The plan to extract troops was there since Obama's time, even trump during his campaign mentioned evacuation which ofcourse he didn't do...it's long overdue and Biden did it....sure planning was not the best cause US thought that after 20 years of training the afghan army they will atleast be able to fight the Taliban's for couple of months while they evacuate but who knew that 300k trained afghan army will give in to about 75k Talibans in few days....that being said America should have evacuated during the 2nd term of Obama after doing the needful to to prevent any further 9/11s..keeping army for 20 years wasting trillions of dollars which is our hardearned tax payers money is not what we American citizens want ....we don't want any of our American soldiers dying for a lost cause...we want our tax payers money to be spent in house, to improve on our country's infrastructure, more security for cyber crimes and issues like primary education...I hope after the evacuation US doesn't meddle in these terrorist infested countries again.Biden did the right thing which was supposed to be done by previous presidents ....his only mistake is not having plan B if afghan army failed ....

That is right! Terrorism is the real threats of the region, and that it can be exported beyond their borders. This issue is not that simple. Taliban do not have spare parts and mechanics. They probably have pilots but many more things are needed to keep an aircraft in top condition and even then it crashes.

So, stop being furious and be grateful that the US Armed Forces have people in charge who are way smarter than you think they are. All those aircraft are good for are as background for selfies. they can't get off the ground ...and don't, just don't, - say that an Army General who has been in Afghanistan and faced the dangers over there could be stating falsehoods to the press. Owning the military hardware and using them are 2 different things altogether. Besides pilots, spare parts and mechanics are needed in order to make use of this hardware. They break down and need to be repaired. What evidence do we have that the Taliban are actually using these? I'm not upset that this stuff was left behind and won't be until I see that it's used in combat. The US and allies made the same mistake we committed in Iraq. We tried to make a nation out of what were a collection of tribes and clans, in which the people do not really think of themselves as citizens of a nation. Besides, both states were run by corrupt officials. Why should their militaries fight for such people? The US & Co. did not lose the war against the Taliban; Afghanistan did. Our biggest accomplishment was leaving after 20 yrs. of futile loss of lives and treasury.
