Your work is always top quality. I would not apologize because the binding isn't perfect. I can't imagine how you sewed it. Lots of bright colors to make lovely coasters, pot holders. I have been at MSQ twice today. Once through the app, once through my phone and now I am on my desktop where I can really see the products. I am looking at fabric, of course. Even though this morning, I told myself no more. The Kaffe fabric deal keeps calling my name. 💖💖

After looking at the notions I checked out the templates, clicked on ugly sweater, scrolled to the bottom & found a free pdf template for the larger size sweater. In notions; I liked the 'star with dowel hanger'. I had an idea long time ago to make pretty blocks and hang them on the wall. I like the block at 8.34 - something been on my to-try list for a very long time! Some of those large blocks could be cut corner to corner and sewn back tog, for hot pads. Love the colour on your needle. When I knit a hat I use 40cm circular needle. Your patches bag turned out great; love the colours.

I’ve gone back and forth trying to decide if I need that ruler. How will I know if I don’t try It out?😉 🤣. I find the more pins or quilt clips the better. I have a lot of both but I’ve used them all in a project many times. Sometimes more is better.

SOG= Straight of Grain. I used your MSQC link to get some wide backs. I end up using the widebacks for piecing. So $5.00 a yd is a great deal. Assuming my math is correct. Today who knows! LOL
@rsislandcrafts

I love wide backs for general piecing. MSQC tends to run sales regularly for their wide backs and at $5 a yard it’s a good stock up price. Math. So necessary and so easy to get wrong accidentally.

Don’t be so hard on yourself Robin. I am in the process of making that same bag for a niece. Thanks for the tips. I think I will take at least 3- 3 1/2 inches down from the😮 top of the end pockets and make a row of pockets on one side of the linings. Also great tip for the binding. I’m using Tula Pink fabric so we’ll see what happens.❤

I am much much happier with the end binding on the duffle than when I tried to make other projects with a similar area. This time I caught all the seams 🥳 I don’t hide little imperfections because for what my customers pay I want them to know exactly what they’re getting even if what I show isn’t noticeable or an issue. Also, It helps anyone else like yourself that is making the same or similar project. This way they can adjust the binding or be prepared ahead of time for what’s coming. I’m very pleased with how the duffle bag turned out. Dance around the studio pleased 🤫. Happy sewing!! ✂️✂️

I checked out your MAQC link. I’ve always wanted to try those fancy lacy-look zippers and Kaffe Fassett is one of my favorite fabric designers. I bought a Ashford rigid heddle 16” loom and I’m loving it. I’m working on a scarf. I think the little animal on your hot pad is a groundhog. My birthday is Groundhog’s Day so I love seeing them. Happy birthday to you on February 7th which is coming up. I think tassels on the duffle bag would look great and make it easier to open and close.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I have some of those fancy lace zippers. One day I need to sit down and find projects for them. Kaffe Fassett is one of my favorite designers too. Congratulations on the Ashford Loom!! I fell in love with looms when I was 8 years old and saw a huge room sized one on a school field trip to one of those old time New England towns. I’ve seen knitters weave scarves on them and they look beautiful. Have fun! Yes! It does look like a groundhog. Happy Birthday!!

I have been asked to set up a craft booth this spring. I am a bit slow getting things done. Oh no. I think we all fall into that trap. The shiny new toy or project gets me every time. Went through your link to MSQC to notions and looked at the aurifil thread - the majority of my friends prefer piecing quilts with Aurifil thread, looks like their prices are good and they have a ton of colors! I prefer good old Coats & Clark ... lol I've made quite a few bags, majority of patterns from Sew Sweetness (Sara Lawson does a phenomenal job of pattern writing and video step by step), also have made quite a few from Vanessa of Crafty Gemini. On the bag binding I found it helpful to trim down the seam allowance and to use a stiletto and I am a big Elmer's glue fan as well but some of my friends prefer Ailene's fabric tac. Beautiful job you've done on your projects - super cute! SOG - straight of grain. Thank you for your video - enjoyed the chat :) Happy crafting!

I’m a little picky when It comes to pins. Which is funny because I don’t use them often. Being in Australia, I'm mostly only interested in the 2.5" and 5" rulers. I must say, I don't think I've ever seen so many of their notions out of stock. Have they just had a really big sale? Good luck with the affiliate link. If you have the rulers I mentioned and are scratching for video content, I would appreciate a comparison between using say the 5" and a 6.5" ruler. Does the 2.5" really make a difference when cutting strips for jelly roll patterns? Thanks.
@rsislandcrafts
@rsislandcrafts 9 күн бұрын
MSQC does seem to go out of stock on their notions. Like most things I think it’s personal preference with the rulers. 5” rulers are nice for cutting charm packs from scraps but I use my 6.5” ruler most often. I do have a 2.5” square ruler that I only use for boxing corners of bags. I find I have more control when the ruler is larger than the size piece that I’m cutting. We can have a ruler chat at the end of a live stream for an in-depth conversation if you’d like. Then everyone can share their opinions. Rulers have been a popular conversation. Anytime you’re in the live chat just remind me to chat about rulers.

No I didn’t read It that way. They had changed It up before Jenny left on her mission. My thoughts are they accepted everyone that applied. I think It got a bit out of control and they didn’t get the results they wanted. I think going forward instead of allowing us to choose what comes in our box they will curate It based on what they want to showcase. Maybe choose those channels that show the most traffic 🤷‍♀️ I don’t know what their process will be. It would make sense that way though. I think based on what they’ve done in the past overall is that they try new things. Then adjust based on their results. Which is smart of course. I was only in the partnership program for a short time but I did have fun.
