The technique you use and your knowledge are unsurpassed. As a technician I can tell you that I saw almost everything but the techniques you use are admirable. And the best thing you have is a unique humility to show your work in detail. Many congratulations is worth calling yourself a teacher ...

curious about the angle irons on the bottom. I've been told constraining wood across the grain will cause it to split, would this happen with this table?
@richardparsons70123 жыл бұрын
Looks lovely. How has the table lasted? All the wood movement being held by the metal angle sections bolted on will have caused great stresses through the seasons.

This table seems to ignore expansion, especially the glued "backing plates" perpendicular to the grain. Aren't you afraid it will tear it apart? Other than that I love the wire stitching, well done!
@Jules_735 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. Those ends are going to pop or end up cracking the end grain.
@volkerpetersen26715 жыл бұрын
Was about to comment...here in Germany its a fundamental rule, never glue straight and perpendicular together. Dry or Not...seasonal expansion is around 1cm / per meter width. Max you can get away with is 10cm width...so a picture frame would be ok.
@@volkerpetersen2671 So if I glue up 15 of 8cm boards, I would be able to get away with it? ;)

Now I know why my rivets are not as stable as I imagined them to be. That's 2K glue at 08:50, right? Also why the metal bars under the table? Are these for stability or to keep all planks in position horizontally?

@createdesign4 жыл бұрын

Not my style, and I don't like the wire legs. But you sir are brilliant. The staples are a genius idea, I liked the "drill stop" and I think I saw a sanding block like that way back in the day but forgot about it. Thank you
