Robin thanks so much for putting so much time, effort and fun into this build! Your comments about build order and inconsistent instructions are well taken and will result in a rework of the manual very soon! Also as you picked up there is an error in the resistor array silkscreen in the first production run (and the BOM) - they should be A104J and A471J. Glad it all worked & was fun in the end!

Cool, and yeah, thanks for sending it in

My only wish is that it would have fit together without having to nip off the pins. LOL You have remarkable skill and patience ... and a great sense of humor! Thanks.

I really enjoyed building the basilisk. Everything works instantly. And of course you have then a beautiful unique power synth 👍🙂

Really like the design on this, sounds and looks like fun too! :)

55:52 “Slightly Terrible” sounds like the hitchhiker’s guide entry describing the manual 😅 (adding another point to now-copious notes for improvement)

I've always read that IC sockets should be soldered in before everything else [original comment posted before I heard you say you'd usually do sockets first, too], presumably because they have a lot of soldering points and so heat will build-up on the board around them. If heat-sensitive components are nearby, they might be more susceptible to failure as you solder dozens of socket pins. Probably not a very likely problem, but I've always gone with sockets, then resistors, capacitors, LEDs/diodes, transistors. I love soldering, so IC sockets are my fav! Watching you put modules together is not only relaxing, but it makes me want to get back into the 867 unfinished projects I started years ago!

I think, for me, it's purely down to the height of the component because i turn it over to solder and it hleps hold things in place.

@@MoltenMusicTech Yeah, that actually makes more sense. It definitely makes things easier.

great build and a proper kit with resistors etc. basic question do you use tin/lead solder and what temp do you set iron at?

Yes and 370

I'm sorry dear, but I have spent all of our money on a new synth and now we can't afford to heat the house.
