Wireing a M101A2 military trailer for civilian use

Thanks for the info. I have one of these. I left the trailer lights alone. Picked up a set of tow lights with magnetic bases and have drove all over the country with them.

@fishontro Well why rewire if you don't have to? Just tap a four wire plug into the existing wires. If you decide to replace it all the Military lights can be sold on eBay to recoup some of the cost.

does the trailer have any wires that effect the trailer brakes?

@acme663ryo I decided to do it your way and am glad I did. Took me about 45 min total to get it all done. My biggest dilemma was actually getting the 24V lights out...Everything else was easy, thanks for the link!

Thanks for saving me tons of time!! I'm about to tackle this project and know what a nightmare trailer lights can be. Would it be easier to ditch all NATO wires and plugs in favor of a 4 plug kit?

I am going the magnetic light route because I intend to buy a MTVR and want to stay stock.

Why not use a voltmeter to figure out which pin is which? Or am I missing something? Thanks for the info though.

I didn't have a helper to hold the meter and I wanted to wire it inside where it wasn't so cold.

WOW you made that harder than it needed to be!! Just like the turn signal that you had backwards... just wire the plug according to your trucks diagram and play a little trial and error on plugging them in!! Never once needed a wiring diagram for a trailer!! Done about a dozen of these without a diagram!! Just a little common sense!!

You are an ass, chasing wires through redundant circuits in a military trailer with a faulty wiring diagram isn't that easy and only someone who doesn't know what they are talking about would say that... just to be an ass. You are probably talking about getting some sort of CarQuest trailer light kit, the grownups are talking about keeping what is already there and making it work.
