I had the same issue with the Bluetooth sometime doesn’t connect to the Apple car play and I thought it could be because my hotspot was on or that my phone Bluetooth is broken. I got down to one reason why it might do that and it was because my phone was connected to the main android bluetooth. I disconnected the Bluetooth on the android and now it’s connecting to the Apple car play Bluetooth fine for a week now.

what is the install setting car type for your unit.

Your on-screen A/C controls look better than your first video. How did you change them to this look?
@scotsessions4 жыл бұрын
@homediary, I just got a px6 for my ‘07 GX 470 and I also noticed that your A/C controls changed from your first video to your recent one above. I think your original was like mine is now. How did you change that?

Did you have issues with sound working when installing your head unit?

no issues...

@HomeDiary, did you install this on a Nav + ML audio system? Or was it a non-nav system? Everything I've found on this indicates installing this system on a Nav+ML system is not possible. Cheers!
@KrisCone4 жыл бұрын
My car had ML and Nav so certainly can be done. As I go through in the video, the only "screen" thing that did not (and still does not) work is setting the temperature via the screen - I have to do that via the physical buttons on each side. But that is how it was done before, right? Supposedly it can work so maybe I do not have the right cord or something but other stuff works. The wired carplay via the dongle works but I did find my set up with some 90 degree cords was impacting performance so right now I have it plugged right into that cigarette lighter USB port without any other extender. I am going to try the wireless carplay again (I sent one back). Carplay is nice and my son like it for his music which is always at hand, and you can use any maps program (Apple, Google or Waze) and works well. There are newer units now than the one I got - a 6 core, 4 GB of RAM and they have wireless carplay/android auto built in so you do not need the dongle I have. Overall I still like it and adds a modern touch to a 2003 vehicle which is pretty cool frankly.

Does anyone know what the rca out voltage is on this thing? The specs are so vague and don't cover the most important specs someone in car audio would be looking for.

On your backup camera, maybe the lower screen is for a 360/bird view camera? Can anyone confirm this?

awesome video. the best so far showing this product in the gx470. one question. how well does the screen look at night when you turn the lights on. Does it still look good when brightness is dimmed for night driving. The reason I ask is I dont want a huge bright-ish screen glaring at me going down the road at night. Thanks again for the great video and information
@KrisCone5 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg. You can turn down the brightness via the little "sun" icon in the top left. The brightness is not an issue as we use it because we have apple CarPlay running most of the time and it has a black background. With CarPlay it auto connects and that is what we see most of the time. I think Waze and other apps do allow for automatic night shift as well. I just did an update to the wireless CarPlay dongle today, while connected to my hotspot, and worked. I am testing out iOS 13 so I have some issues but my son's phone on 12.x works good and connects automatically. I did test iOS 13 and the update to CarPlay on about a 700 mile trip back east using a rented Audi Q5 and I do like the new updates to CarPlay. Dashboard is good and you can multi-task. It does need an update to let you pick which nav app you want - right now still defaults to Apple maps and it was inaccurate several times and that is what defaults to show in the dashboard view.

@@KrisCone awesome info as usual. does it change the screen brightness when turning on the lights at night(or the light sensor dims the lights). In other words are there 2 brightness adjustments, one for day and one for night. thanks again for the info

there is a night and day setting but I am not sure it makes a huge difference...@@Greg-gz5bg

would you recommend this upgrade for an audio lover im looking to buy a 08 gx470 thx a ton -peter

I still like it. I am sure I could tweak the sound more...sounds fine to me. Others have said it is crap. I would say maybe not as good as the original but I like all of the other functionality the unit provides so it is good. I did install Sergey's firmware. I will probably do a video on that at some point. I was going to upgrade to the PX6 but keeping the older unit for now. Those with the new say the built in carplay has issues so I can't opine to that..

You may of said it but I don’t remember hearing it but does this system use the factory mic in your car for when you talk on the phone or does it come with a new mic
@KrisCone5 жыл бұрын
It has its own mic...you can see on the top left of the left side it says mic. Not sure if there is a way to connect it to the factory...

Kris Cone awesome I just ordered one today. I ordered the px6 and got it for 15% off and is supposed to have built in car play. So hopefully everything runs smooth

@HomeDiary, what settings did you change to turn on the backup camera? Mine does not trigger the back up camera at all. Also, what cable did you use? My SUV is a 2006 GX470 with ML & Nav. Thanks!
@KrisCone4 жыл бұрын
There are two configuration menus. The advanced menu code should be 8861 (some others I have seen if that does not work 666888, 1680, 1688). The other menu I think is 7861.... there is a setting for aftermarket camera... I have heard some units will not power the original camera if yours had one. Mine is an aftermarket license plate camera.

Can you link the parts you used both for the Garlink and the TPMS sensor?

one other thing...make sure the unit you get does not have a specific TPMS or OBD sensor they recommend....

HI, what do you call the unit that have in your suv. where did you buy it? thanks
@KrisCone5 жыл бұрын
I bought it off of Aliexpress but as I say in the video, my suggestion is use someone like Phoenix Auto as they have a US operation so it is a lot easier to get support (the reseller I bought from was absolutely NO help in the issues that I had). The newer units (6 core, 4 Gb RAM) are on Aliexpress now and probably just a matter of time before Phoenix gets it. Contact them with questions.
