Is there a rule of thumb as to how big to make the spirals depending on the bead and how long to cut the wire accordingly? I'm guessing you need to make the spirals as big in diameter as the bead. But how to make sure to cut the right wire length? That's the only question keeping me from diving in and caging a bunch of my jumbo sized plain lampwork glass beads for more visual interest on bracelets and pendants/necklaces. Please advise.

That's a good question, Michelle, and honestly, I haven't figured out an answer to it. The best way to approach it would be to experiment with an inexpensive craft wire, measuring it before coiling. Then you'll be able to judge from there if you need more or less.

Try it out with cheap craft wire (half hard usually). Wrap, unwrap, measure, done. Transfer to regular dead soft quality wire. Unless you are a mathematician adding up circumference of bead in spiraling sizes, large to small, this is the fastest and most accurate way.

Great tutorial and beautiful bracelet! This is such a good technique! Audio and visuals are very poor, low resolution and sound is very fuzzy. Get a good microphone and camera. These are the wrong wire cutters. This type is used in electrical work. You want the wire snips for jewelry that are sharper and more precise.
