Thanks for the video, you’ve answered a lot of questions I had about wiring in the Jackery in practice. I had the theory, but you’ve demonstrated how it is done. Enjoy!

Great progress! Remind me how you keep water from coming in the side vent grate while driving down the road in a heavy rainstorm. I assume it has a hatch cover?
@BackcountryBanter4 жыл бұрын
The top vent is sealed in but the bottom vent isn’t. I honestly don’t know how it’s going to do in a driving rain. While parked it has been 100% dry even in blowing hard rains. I think putting a noseeum mesh over it might help a bit but really I’m kind of waiting to see if it is an issue or not. 🤷♂️

It’s a Melanzana, they are sold in Leadville, CO. I picked it up when I was hiking the CDT. I think they sell them online too.

Hey there! Loved this Vid! Question- what gauge of wire connects from your DC Out to your fuse box? I have one coming that is 14 gauge with a 15 amp fuse and I'm planning to do something very similar to yours with a Jackery 300.
@BackcountryBanter3 жыл бұрын
Mine is 14 gauge as well. I couldn't find a heavier gauge available. My plan was to replace the wiring with 10 gauge but I've felt the wires under full load and they are cool to the touch and seem to handle the load just fine. I guess because it's a fairly short distance that 14 gauge works well enough.

Did the two of you have these construction skill before starting this project? Or, are you learning as you go? Some combination of both? I've watched similar DIY videos (like, say, tiny homes) but just never asked anyone.

Hey Allen! I worked in the Woods Lab throughout college so that is where most of my experience comes from. Joe has always been amazing at researching how things work/how to do things and then doing them. We are also learning soooo much of this on the fly! Thanks for asking 😁

Any update on how the 10 amp 12v plug does with all that load? I'm curious how much of a load that output can actually take
@BackcountryBanter3 жыл бұрын
It has handled everything (in our camper) just fine. That said I would not push it beyond its current usage as it would likely trip the breaker in the Jackery. It has been just enough.
@marypoe76153 жыл бұрын
Hi!! Thank you for sharing the knowledge. My name is Mary......I bought a switch panel with 8 switches with USB and 12v. It is all prewired with fuses. Can I just wire a 12v plug on the end of it and plug it into my jackery to have all of the switches working? Or is that not possible ? Thank you
@gspfan733 жыл бұрын
Just wondering is that too much for the 10amp output, if all devices are on or being used won't they exceed 10 amps or does that matter. And do you have a fuse from the Jackery to the fuse block. Thanks.

I had that exact same question! The refrigerator alone puts it pretty close. Backcountry Banter, any thoughts on this after almost a year? Great description of your setup though. I too have had trouble finding similar wiring diagrams/setups.
