Lookin' good .. and a great tip on stud wall transference. Keeping our living spaces comfortable, or even livable is the largest expenditure of energy .. and I don't like chopping wood if I don't have to!

Checking back in with you for additional info …. So the GFCI outlet outside has a wire coming to it from the inverter and is wired into that outlet and pigtailed from there to allow it to also continue into the cabin … from there I assume it goes to your service /breaker box ? Then on into the circuit of plugs etc And for using the inverter power you simply turn the switch on for the inverter and it powers the gfci as well as the inside circuit plugs 110v AC IF you want to use a generator you have a dual male plug ? To go from generator to that same gfci plug and plug into it And when you do that what keeps the power from going back into the inverter ? Just simply turn the inverter off ? I assume you wouldn’t want to unplug the wire from the inverter to the gfci box or that will be hot when generator is running …

Hopefully I can answer your questions without sounding too confusing. Whenever I use the AC power from a generator I always make sure that The power coming out of the inverter is unplugged and the inverter is turned off. In the last two years I haven’t had to do this very often but I use it as a back up for cloudy days. Right now I am only using the breaker box inside the house as a junction box. I just put it in incase if I change things in the future. All of the AC wire is pigtailed at all of the outlets so basically all I have is a great big extension cord. I felt I would be safe doing it this way because the wiring is feeding such a tiny space.It’s a very simple basic set up for beginners and it works perfect in this application. Thanks for watching

@@karlsoffthegrid1378 sorry to bother you but if you are using the generator and it is i assume plugged into the GFCI outside outlet (do you have a dual male plug for that connection??) and inside your garage where you have unplugged the wire going back to the inverter ISNT THAT WIRE now hot from the generator ?? Dude this is Kick A$$ thanks a lot Im having a ball with this

I am curious of your solar components . What size Renogy battery do you have ? I saw you said it was around 250 dollars . I also love the controller for your lights and USB port ? Where did you get that ? Have any info on it ? The harbor freight systems ? 2 -100 watt systems ?
@karlsoffthegrid1378

The battery I have been using since I made this video two years ago is a Renogy 200 Ah 12 volt AGM battery. Since I have made this video they have shot up to approximately $400. I have been powering the system by 2 100watt Harbor freight kits. It’s a great way to get started out on solar without spending a lot of money. I have easily powered all of my lights, charged cell phones and computers, and powered miscellaneous battery chargers for my power tools.Now that I am starting to understand how solar works and what I can expect out of it, I will be upgrading the system this spring. most of my wiring supplies, fuses, and the control center were all purchased off of Amazon. Thanks for watching!!

The 12 volt wire coming from the charge controller goes into the cabin and straight to the switch panel that has the various switches and blue lights and from there the circuit goes to the various lights and such
@karlsoffthegrid1378
@karlsoffthegrid1378 2 жыл бұрын
Just a couple of things to remember. Behind the blue panel is where all my fuses are and I also had a negative busbar back there. Unfortunately when I was making the video my electrical supply house did not have the main fuse for my battery. A week after I made this video I added a 60 amp fuse To the main lead that comes off the positive terminal of the battery. I hope this helps, have an awesome day
@smittyturksmith8812
@smittyturksmith8812 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for your time and insight! Are the fuses for your 12v lines in each h individual line ? I guess like an in-line fuse on the hot wire and then all the ground or negative side goes to the bus bar ? What size fuses you using like 1 to 5 amps ? Sorry but on the blue panel each switch gets a hit and negative wire connected to each switch? I’m fixing to purchase a blue panel just like the one you have
@karlsoffthegrid1378
@karlsoffthegrid1378 2 жыл бұрын
@@smittyturksmith8812 You can basically do the same thing by putting a main fuse on the Positive side of the battery. Then at the spot where all of your lines tie in together you can put a fuse box and branch off to each light or fixture. I Purchased a small DC fuse box like what a car or boat would have to accomplish this. A lot of the blue switch panels nowadays come with their own fuses too. You can do it either way

Found your channel through Arkansas Woodcutter. I envy those who can truly go off grid and are not dependent on the power company. Florida does not have laws favorable to a desire to go off grid as it would adversely effect the power company income. They also argue by controlling the grid inputs, it protects power workers from back fed electricity. So we went to a 23k backup generator versus solar - funny think is the generator switch isolates the power input just like a solar switch would. Its all bureaucracy. I have subscribed to follow along with your channel. If you get a chance, check out our small family farm channel and consider subscribing. Thanks.

I have a 2000 watt inverter. You would never have enough power just to run the refrigerator alone.Refrigerator and air conditioning have some of the largest draws you would need to spend thousands of dollars to get a system big enough to power those things. Sorry

Running some A/C outlets is a good idea. Keep in mind that using an inverter to go from DC to AC to DC to charge electronics you will have a 20% reduction in efficiency. Just a suggestion, but consider running some DC wiring, and mount USB ports on the wall. Much more efficient for you solar power!

My philosophy is, that it's better to have and not need...than to need and not have. Smart choice on putting the box up high to be hid by the TV, nothing worse than ugly cords hanging down. Your right about not needing a 100 amp panel, but hey, you'll have it if you ever need it. Boxes are in and now time to pull some romex. Really enjoying your channel!
