Solid video brother. That take-home about the differences between being able to study information for regurgitation vs studying information for memory and actual application is always true. I preach this all of the time. Keep grinding.

I've been watching a lot of your videos recently. I'm currently in pre-nurs and Im going to start a BSN program pretty soon. I've been experiencing a lot of self-doubt lately. The minimum exam and grade averages have been weighing on my conscience. It's hard for me to believe that in 2-3 years, I'll be knowledgeable enough to work in a hospital. I realized something that I want to share with anyone who's doubting themselves: everything is in your power. If you put in the work, the results will show. Plain and simple. Ima go hard in nursing school. I hope these words help anyone else experiencing self-doubt.

I subbed because I applied for the nursing program at NSC for the second time and wanted to know what it was actually like on the inside. I had a whole mental breakdown over grades. Really felt like I wasn’t smart because I always struggled with my exams but would do well on my labs and practicals. So this was really great wisdom to share!
@kaynenbrown51025 жыл бұрын
KenishaDenise Hey, sorry to hear about that! NSC is a great school and my girlfriend is actually on her first semester there right now. Nursing school was much better than the requisite courses for me....you are no longer competing with anyone. Everyone helps each other out:)

Kaynen Brown, BSN, RN Thanks! I meant like last week I put in my application for the second time there. And found your videos right after and binge watching some while I wait for a letter lol Congratulations to your girlfriend! I know a couple people who just finished and are almost done. I had the roughest time with prerequisites. It’s been like 6 years since I’ve been taking classes and retaking. Trying to turn C’s into A’s and B’s into A’s. Just tried to be perfect focusing on grades and feeling like I couldn’t do it even though I’ve known at the age of 10 it’s what I’m supposed to do. It really messed me up. But I’ve realized I’m just a B student. 🤷🏽♀️ also being a first gen student is hard! But doable. Like you said in this video we learn differently and the hands on stuff is easier for me than taking exams. I can’t wait to finally be in and get started! Your videos have made me feel more confident and answered so many of my questions about nursing school. I’m sorry for the super long message lol but thanks for this channel, Kaynen!

This is so motivating to me right now! I'm in pre nursing taking psychology, English, A&P 1, and A&P LAB all during this summer semester. I've been stressing like crazy and working very hard to get this done. I've been stressing about grades cause I want to make all A's. This has really motivated me to take it easy and go with the flow. I will continue to shoot high for my grades but where I land I will accept it and keep striving for excellence. Thank you for your insight, This nursing journey is no joke but its good to have people like you giving wisdom about the journey that makes it a lot easier.

I had the same professor that you referred to in this video and he made such an impact on me and the type of student I have become. He was tough but his side lessons on not being too hard on yourself when I️t comes to exams and such were so insightful. Anyway, really like the videos and happy to see a Vegas local making moves!

I'm glad the semester went well for you, I still have finals unfortunately but next week is my last week. I can finally enjoy my break. In college,it's normal to get caught up on what your classmates got on a test or as a grade. I agree with you .But as a nursing student , it's not about the grade so much, more so passing the class and being able to apply what you learned in clinicals effectively. I know students,who were just like you said got A's and B's in class or on test. However when it came time for clinicals they were unable to apply what they learned to an actual situation . You don't look like, the usual nursing student at the end of the semester Stressed Out. You look so relaxed .I wish my school , had more guys that were going in/ in the nursing program. 1 semester left and you will be Nurse Kaynen 👏👏@KaynenBrown

Kaynen Brown You're welcome 😊, I look forward to seeing you talk about your journey, as a new grad nurse ,applying for jobs,picking up your cap and gown. As well as your advice for nursing students ,in your last semester. I know you will be a great nurse. I have a question do the guys in the nursing program have it easier,than the girls in the program at your school ? At my school yeah ,the guys are favored over the girls since it's not that many of them. I showed my advisor your video and she said you look almost too good to be true to be a nursing student Lol.

That is me, I do well in the theory but clinical not so much. I dropped out of school because of it but I am returning this August, I don't feel it was so much of the clinical pressure but not feeling confident and knowing what I am doing in clinical being that I don't have any medical experience but I am working towards actually being more hands on and understanding what is required of me in clinical as a nursing student

I love this video. I just finished my first semester of nursing school and I really needed to hear this. I'm normally an all A student but this semester I got all Bs. My perfectionist side felt like I failed by not getting these As, but in reality nursing school is nothing like prereqs. It was very different and I needed to change my study habits & I changed them to late in the game to get that A. But I feel like I still learned a lot and that I'm going to kill it next semester! Keep up the great work :)

Great video bro! I love John Balinski! I'm subbed to CME for life, that's his youtube channel. He's so dialed in! I had a similar situation in my first semester. My clinical instructor outed me and told the entire clinical group that I have the highest grade in the class. this made everyone somewhat intimidates when speaking with me and that made me sad because the whole group put a label on me as "genius " and I'm totally not haha!

hey kaynen. I am at a local community collage and am in the stage of making huge decision for my life. I am really confused and don't know what to do. I wanted to apply to the ADN program this spring but I feel like am not going to be accepted. So if i didn't get accepted into a community collage program what should i do?. Do i have to change my major because there is no way i can get a BSN in nursing. I have taken all the pre-classes. Is there any option for people who don't get accepted in the program. THank you so much for helping future nurses with this videos.

Aaron McCray Yes of course. How are you holding up in your program??
@aaronmccray49427 жыл бұрын
Holding up ok, thanks. Finishing up my 3rd class (second semester). I have an 82.86% heading into the final which is about 22% of our grade. Unfortunately though, we have to have an 80% in each class to progress. I'm not too sure how it's going to end, I'm trying to stay positive.

@kaynenbrown51027 жыл бұрын
toni b. Some schools no, when you're in the program they require all A's in order to pass. With that being said, from what I have seen here where I live, those programs tend to be easier to get into and have lower board pass rates. The more difficult schools to get into, all they require is that you pass everything with a 75% or higher and these schools have higher board pass rates.
