Some are silent because they actually don't have a lot to say, some are silent because they are practicing Buddhism. Others are silent for other reasons. To assign great profound reasons as to someones silence is often not true. Talking is a beautiful thing too, it allows us connection and sharing. Be very careful not to assume what is happening in another person. They could be mute, or cowardly, or not too bright.......or they could be a person practicing silence. What other behaviors did your Grandfather take part in, was he wise? Was he kind? Those are good too.

Through observing my narcissistic husband's need for noise, I have learned just how valuable silence is. It is now my challenge to exercise silence during the frequent moments where I want so desperately to say something when I'm being hurt.
@janinedevilliers510

I validate what you are saying. I was in an abusive narcissistic relationship and suffered extreme abuse. Learning how to be silent during a narcisstic rage fit directed at you is very difficult. It wears one out to constantly be the target of abuse. We become the proverbial punching bags. It took me a long time to leave the narcissit and years to recover. I am still learning and recovering. I learned how to go no contact. And now that I am used to not having the total chaos of the narcissit in my life, it is so much better for my wellbeing. I can think. I can now look at the situation from a more detached place because I have healed enough to see how harmful it was and what lessons I learned. I still get easily triggered when I find myself in chaotic peoples energy and I must retreat. It really takes time to heal from this trauma. May you give yourself the gift of healing and gaining knowledge to the path that best serves your highest good. Children are seriously harmed by living on eggshells around constant parental chaos if children are involved. A narcissit may hit their rock bottom, but they will never change. Ever. That is the biggest lesson to grasp. We can't change them, control them or cure them. We can choose to accept that, and once we do, we can choose in silence, what we want to plan to do & implement to save our own lives. Silence is key for safety reasons. I wish you a very blessed life, peace and tranquility which are very precious. You deserve a beautiful life. 💖

Their is no human emotion that is not part of the survival mechanism, to say being silent during angry emotions, is far to simplistic. Sometimes anger is very useful for survival. The real state we need to achieve is emotional intelligence, knowing the difference between anger caused by petty squabbles and serious threats. That’s true enlightenment.
@curtrod
@curtrod 10 ай бұрын
anger is never good, that's true enlightenment
@penelopemargaretjones
@penelopemargaretjones 10 ай бұрын
@curtrod Anger is unavoidable and necessary. It's what you do with your anger that is important. Emotions are not inherently "Good" nor "Bad" We are humans and we will experience all forms of emotions. Sitting in silence gives us the opportunity to not immediately react. It gives us the opportunity to transform, to learn and to avoid mindlessly reacting.
@twistednerve444
@twistednerve444 10 ай бұрын
I'm not so sure there's anything simple about disciplining yourself to exhibit self-control during a moment when it's easy to spew venom and physically hurt yourself or others (including destruction of property). Fight or flight/fawn or freeze are survival tactics that are inherently in all of us (and I feel like that's what you're describing a bit). I've struggled for years with suicidal ideation, but I know that if someone were to break into my home right now and threaten to kill me, I would ferociously fight for my life. I would cling to life. Anger is a secondary emotion and beneath that reactive behavior lies more undesirable emotions that make us feel small and vulnerable like jealousy and fear. Our ego wants others to see that we aren't to be messed with: "Do you take me for a fool? I am not weak. I'll show you." And there's no need to prove anything to anyone, especially during an absurd argument. Make no mistake; a person is not weak or simple for choosing to remain silent. They're being smart and safe. But, of course, ask almost anyone and they will tell you it is necessary to defend/protect oneself when it comes to their safety and possibly the well-being of their loved ones if being attacked physically or verbally. Even then, no need for fisticuffs or harsh words. Setting boundaries will suffice in most situations and sometimes setting that boundary looks and feels like complete silence. As the narrator mentioned, sometimes silence alone shows our refusal to participate in harmful activities like gossip and slander. By remaining silent, people get the hint--even if they don't have the words for it. They'll feel it: "Yikes. Seems like someone doesn't like this topic of conversation. I feel kind of stupid now because I thought they'd at least agree or back me up on my bullshit." And they may think twice the next time they want to come around and blather incessantly about utter nonsense or hurl secretive insults at others. Silence isn't the cure-all and the narrator did also mention there are moments when silence is actually not the best solution. Silence should be practiced accordingly in certain situations but not every single time.

In the Ismaili faith, our spiritual leader has said: "Never be angry, never show displeasure or be mean." In regards to gossiping, we are taught that gossip is the biggest sin worse then killing someone bcz we are killing that person while they are still alive and sin is equilent to like eating the flesh of your brethren. We are not even allowed to listen, we should move away from anyone gossiping bcz hearing gossip is also a sin.

What if someone encouraged you to take your money from the bank to invest in something you later found out is like gambling and the thing collapsed and they told you that if it didn't work out they would give back your money,now they are avoiding you and when you're in the same space they turn their backs to you and avoiding eye contact with you, I've been keeping silent for 3 long years while watching their actions, the things I had the money to do when COVID was over is now coming through and I don't have the money to do my business and as a result my children and I are suffering,my 12 years old son goes to school with only bus fare no lunch money ,I'm waking up in the middle of the night fretting over the fretting because that money was my help after COVID and I must say I lost my job during Covid now I must ask at what point I should break my silence ?

Being extra vigilant over the things that make brain chatter worse will help. It is boring but true that these things are important...proper nutrition, good sleep, excersise, natural light exposure, positive social interactions, meditation. These things are possible to achieve with an ND mind, it just takes a different, unique to you, path to achieve. Make sure you are getting the right vitamins and in the right amounts, we need far more than officially accepted. B vits, magnesium, omega 6 are ones to focus on for overestimated mind. Find the right method for you to prioritise sleep, there is adhd specific advice out there for this. Same for excersise, what works for NT might not work for you but there is ND specific advice for incorporating more movement into your life. Avoid people who cause you anxiety or trigger your overthinking often, it's totally acceptable and your wellbeing is worth it, these ppl probably won't agree but this is exactly why they aren't good for you. Meditation /mindfulness can come in other forms than the traditional. I find that working on art projects shuts down my chatter and I get into a flow state, I think this is similar to meditation. I am not aware of myself but neither am I thinking, I am just being a person making a thing, so it's positive. Dancing can be a way to escape thought, again because you are being physical rather than thinking, your body is moving to express emotion as a response to sound, not typical dancing but ecstatic/tranceform dancing with intention, not as a performance for others but for yourself to feel. I'm sure there are other forms that might resonate with you, the main idea is to spend some time not being your thoughts, if they come up the practice is to notice them as though you are someone else listening to someone talking...to disassociate from your thoughts and not identify yourself as them. Your thoughts are part of you, part of a triad (mind, body, soul) but they are not entirely YOU. They are your conditioning, they are your tool for navigating existence, they are a mechanism for surviving, but they are not YOU. It is extra hard but extra worth it for your ND mind, prioritise your peace and do not judge yourself when it proves difficult. Any tiny progress is still progress, just trying is progress x

@@MissNoonooify Do we speak if we are wronged at work?
@MissNoonooify
@MissNoonooify 10 ай бұрын
@@Nicole-gb4ze if you go by what this video teaches, it seems it is best not to speak in the moment your anger is triggered, but to think upon it and then speak when you have found the right path within yourself so that you know what you are speaking is for positive change and not an egoic reaction. It is worth meditating upon these points ...why do you feel wronged? Why might the other person have behaved in a way that wronged you? What needs of yours are not being met? What needs of the other person are they trying to meet by doing you wrong? How can both of you get your needs met simultaneously? You must stand up for your needs, it is how you approach it that matters. What you decide to do might not be agreed to by the other, we cannot make people be sensible, but it will make a difference to your soul and your wellbeing that you offered an empathetic solution. If you are working with people who are completely unwilling to compromise or consider your needs it might be the best action to walk away from that job. It may be very difficult but so is spending every day with people who are harmful to you, it takes a high toll over time.

However!!!! If u grew up without any love or wisdom, and u felt helpless and victimized and were not allowed to speak, there is a possibility to develop the ability to psychically attack others. Psychic attack requires silence and rage. Focus. Focus on the one hurting you. What im getting at is once you realize you are doing this, it is difficult to stop bcuz it is a habit. And to acquire wisdom and new awareness, make new choices takes time. It takes time to stop living and expressing as a victim in life, to even become aware this is happening….

Suggest removing background music, it is distracting to messages. Essentially you are putting forth “2” issues to have thoughts upon; thus listing thoughts are divided and not getting the full Buda teaching. The background music NOT relaxing at all, if reason; it is “thought splitting”.
