I don't know which port I'm sailing to and I like it better that way tbh. "No wind is favourable"? I'd disagree cuz when I have nowhere to go I actually do not mind going wherever the wind takes. I try to keep things simple and as much in the present as it can be.

canigetachannel what a weak excuse. It’s a getaway as to why you are not seeking to be the greatest you can be, because you know if you tried you would probably fail before succeeding, but because you are afraid you will never try, and in doing so, you have become the failure you seemed to avoid.

@@50shekels Ad hominum attack, what a cop out. Your intellectual vigor is waning. You assumed to have 1st hand knowledge of me, which you do not. You attempted to grasp my coat tails to gain notoriety. You have failed, as most trolls do, because you lack the intellectual strength to maintain coherence in your argument. I'm sorry I don't possess the dressing to décor your word salad. No matter how strong you "think" you are, there's always someone stronger. This is an adolescent lesson that hasn't yet penitrated your meager ego. You will probably miss everything worthwhile and die angry. Good luck with that. (filthyrags, 2020)

The paramount importance of the individual, and the divinity of speech, were the most important values of Ancient Greece and today of the Western World. This makes me proud of my Greek heritage and gives me hope that humanity will survive and prosper. Without the scared individual and the freedom of speech, we will not be able to overcome the obstacles that are ahead, and we would not have been able to overcome the obstacles that were put in front of us in the past.

Greek here also, brother remember, No one is excellent, our ancestors would be proud if any of us (not only Greeks, but we Greeks more than anyone) became day by day better as persons. You see life is full of lessons, and through those lessons we examine our choices or "failures", and by that examination, we become better, but also we become students, and in life, any one battles its own hard battle, so a student becomes a disciple, and the disciple is disciplined, and a disciplined disciple becomes a warrior

*"The strong do what they can, and the weak suffer what they must"* That quote is great, but the context does give it a certain bitterness, as it was said by the Greeks when they excecuted all the adult men of Melos, when Melos wanted to stay neutral during the Peloponnesian war. The fact that most of these quotes still hold true today all these 1000s if years later just goes to show that humanity has really not grown much or learnt much at all. I believe that you have to be born with a heightened sense of morality and understanding in order to achieve philosopher level wisdom. I do not believe the masses are able to comprehend this level of being.

For me I have regretted my silence more than my words ! There are things I wish I never kept silent about.

I agree, same with me. I really think these types of quotations are too simplistic and not based on reality.

@@embracinglogic1744 yo right, being too silent can be just as bad as speaking too much

@@revelationtrain7518 Agreed. In my life it resulted in another person getting the job or promotion over me, being disrespected in my marriage because I did not assert myself, and disconnections from family members. Nonsense propaganda such as this proverb implies and/or contains the ideology of 'being a nice guy', which almost always results in failure.
