I have a 15' trailer with small bathroom and no slides. Despite that, it feels spacious because I have a dinette that folds down as the "door" to a storage cupboard. I only have the table up when I need to use it. I've not seen this feature on any other RV, but I love it.

Well once again as a Newmar owner, four times now. Great job on the video. The first thing is the adage it takes your third coach to get it right. We had our 2018 Dutch Star built from a work sheet. So let me start with your list. 1. You got the sofa thing figured out. We have the same sofa and when we have guests, almost never, I joke that we blow the mattress up fully on the first night but only half on the second and not at all on the third. 2. Having had both the Booth and the table workstation that you have, you are missing an option that Newmar has. We ordered the 2018 with a free-standing table. Looks like the one you have but it is free standing, and it has a much longer leaf. No, it doesn’t move going down the road, has more room for guests and takes up the same space as the one you have when stowed. Did I mention it can be used length wise in the coach so seat six if need be and it does fit through the door so it can go outside. 3. Propane is just one more thing to run out of. Full electric is the answer. The Induction cook top cooks just like gas. The key is to keep the bottom of your pans squeaky clean and you will see no difference. BTW when you get your DS you will see that the Induction Cook top can be taken outside to cook on as well. 4. Convection Microwave is outstanding. The Admiral makes pies and cakes in ours. Just take a bit of a learning curve. 5. One you missed is the Fisher Payel dishwasher. That is only because you haven’t had one, but your new DS will. It is so convenient, and the fact is it cleans dishes better than the $1500 one I have in my house. 6. Yes, the demand for water heaters are great. But when you have Diesel available, Oasis is the way to go without a doubt. Two 110V heater coils, heat from the engine cooling system so when you get there you have hot water or going down the road you have hot water, and Diesel flame as well. The only yearly service is changing the Diesel filter and making sure the igniter is working correctly. 7. Full body Paint and Clear coat is wonderful. DS are not cut and buffed lower than the rub rail. Cut and Buff is when you cannot feel the paint line between the different colors on the coach. To do the Buff and Cut it takes Newmar about 5 hours with four workers to do from the rub rail up. On Mountain Aire and above it takes a little bit longer than the eight to do the whole coach. My guess is you could get Newmar to do the bottom on a build sheet, of course for an up charge. All three of mine did not have the bottom done only the rub rail up. 8. SaniCon pump out is a good option. Your DS will have macerator heads, but the pump will empty both tanks, through an easy-to-handle hose within 10 minutes start to stop. No more orange 4” Anaconda sections to deal with. 9. Lithium Batteries is the answer without a doubt. 10. Can the Direct TV antenna and go with better Wi-Fi. We have a 1000 GB a month plan for $160 a month no throttling and after just three months on the road we are thinking of going to 500GB. We are using about 280GB a month right now so 500 will be more than enough. Of course, we do not use it the same as you do so maybe the1000GB would be better. Now get out there and fix the wrinkles in that windshield Sunshade. Do I have to come over there? :>)))
@AmericanMX4 ай бұрын
The one addition I’d do on every coach I’ll own is to film the windshield. I had ours filmed with llimar air90. It’s clear so it it legal but it cuts 99% of the uv rays and 66% of the heat. I also filmed the side windows (driver and door) 30% it cuts the glare to where I don’t have to wear sunglasses on sunny days. Our dash air is out but with house ac,s running and a stick fan we don’t need dash air. Also when your parked in combination to the window shade or magna shade there is virtually no temp difference inside from front to the back. It’s definitely worth it.

We bought our Bounder new in 2011. It came with both convection/microwave and gas oven. The gas ovens are well known for not cooking even. A lot of people add pizza stones to help. Once I learned how to use the convection, I use it all the time. I even had it put in our winter home we bought in 2018. I also went to induction in the RV because propane had so many safety issues. Anytime we walked by the knobs would get bumped. We set off the propane alarm too many times.

We have a Truma water heater on our 1 year old DRV 5th wheel. Only problem with Truma is that if the unit is not well sealed to the sidewall, it can get water inside in a heavy rain. It has shorted out the main circuitboard twice. Truma's customer service is top notch, and I have been able to get replacement circuit boards within a day or two (still too long with cold showers!) Tech availability takes more time, but the circuit board is user replaceable - I was able to replace the board without further assistance. Once I figured out where the water was coming from, I sealed it, and have had no further trouble. It's a great unit.

Induction for safety and decreasing the heat in the RV. I wish I had induction in my RV. We have it in our home and it' so nice. The flames in the RV put out so much additional heat into the RV and you have to pay for the propane. Our home induction turns itself off if a pot is moved. It also leaves the top pretty cool after you remove the pot/pan from the cooktop. I love the tankless water heater. I put it on 98 and when I take a shower I just turn the hot water side on. The water comes out perfect without having to balance it with cold.

Great vid! #1 check which manufacturer service dealer is closest to you. e.g. who will service your motorhome after you buy it. Remember, the chassis (motor, transmission, wheels, rear, etc) is a different service dealer than the house/home part of your motorhome. For example, CampingWorld will only Service the home. Ford, Freightliner will only service the chassis. (Freightliner “Oasis” Service shops will service both). We owned a 2022 class-a 40’ gas motorhome and traded it in for an “all electric” 2025 class-a 40’ diesel with AquaHot hydronic; much better.

Great topic, MJ, Izzy and Jason! We have found that some things that sound good conceptually, don't necessarily work out in actual practice. We had a booth in our previous coach and really didn't like it very much, but that was partly a function of the quality, or lack thereof. We really like the dinette in the DS, the back bar area is much more useable and provides extra storage as well as a place to setup a laptop as you noted. Agree about the two recliners as opposed to having two sofas, recliners are much more useful, at least for us. While I like a gas cooktop and stove at home, I would worry about gas leaks in an RV that is jostled traveling on rough roads. But we do find the induction cooktop cooks kind of spotty, hot spots/not so hotspots. The DS gives the option of heating water with diesel or electric. We usually use the diesel, it takes very little fuel to heat water and we've never run out of hot water for showers, washing dishes, etc. The Battleborn Lithium batteries sound like a worthwhile upgrade, providing more power and much longer lifespan and no maintenance, though I know the installation involves more than just the batteries and isn't cheap. We have a satellite dish on our RV, but I can't remember the last time we used it, we generally just hookup to the cable connection that most campgrounds have.

Third motorhome, 1st older HR class A (gas) not bad few issues fun for weekends with the kids. 2nd Thor Class C no real camping problems but driving was a nightmare, $2K in upgrade to the suspension a lot better but still work. Add LiF4 BB batteries and victon inverter, a coach you could take on vacation and boondock. Now we are full time and stepped it up to a super C Renegade Verona LE all electric I added LiF4 batteries and swapped out the Magnetron inverter for the Victron. living our best life and never had any regrets with our purchase. Love to drive the coach so much easier than the class C. This is our story.

Always great when you guys drop a vid and love this topic. We are finalizing our outfitting choices on an Explorer and your points are helpful. . On the topic of Lithium and in particular LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate aka LiFePO4 I) wanted to chime in. In the last decade or so, the cost of these batteries has fallen by more than 80% and in 2022, key use patents started to expire accelerating the drop in prices even further. Unfortunately, many/most manufactures are not passing the dramatic drop in prices to their buyers. For example, a recent price quote from on a 2025 coach showed almost $20k; worth of batteries that could be sourced for less than $2500. These prices are only going to continue to drop...something to be aware of when negotiating a buy or considering an upgrade. In appreciation!

I chose the Euro booth and love it, but no sleeping option. An advanced to an induction stove top is it cools as soon as turned off. I use cast iron cookware. A convection oven should, by design, cook more evenly than a conventional one. My next one will be ceramic coated before it leaves the dealership, likely NIRVC, and have Rettroband installed.

I am fortunate that it will be just me, so everything in my van (Ford Transit High Roof Extended AWD - lifted and bigger tires) is chosen for me and me only. I got the propane stove - actually a propane range, so I can cook the way I prefer. For safety, I will be using one pound bottles, so if there is any leakage, it will, hopefully be minimal, and I'll be very careful. I bought the refillable 1 lb kegs, as I don't want to litter the environment with little metal canisters. I will carry a 5lb canister in the van box at the back outside of the van, tightly capped. I will have a queen sized bed, wet bath, and an awesome power and heating/cooling system. I have a 48v 10K EcoFlow power kit, which will charge from 300w of solar panels on the roof or through the secondary alternator in the van. My air conditioner is a 48v X3 Nomadic, which is extremely energy efficient, and I have a Webasto heater that sips gas from my regular gas tank to keep my van warm on cold days. My tanks are inside where they are kept warm so I don't have to winterize the van seasonally, as I will be living in it year round. Internet will be through Insty Connect, using their Insty Squared antenna and 5G modem. I looked at many class b and c rigs before choosing to have a van custom built by Drifter Vans in Detroit. It will be so much nicer than anything I could have bought off a lot.
@thechroniclesofmaintenance41924 ай бұрын
Good video, we’ve ordered a couple rigs years past and did pretty good selecting options. Our current RV was purchased at the Hershey show and has every option available at that time so we are very happy with it. I am not concerned about propane in our RV’s. It is no more dangerous than the 80 gallons of gasoline in the fuel tank or the lithium batteries that can ignite if a failure occurs. It helps being a combustion tech who installed & started up a propane plant that required running the liquid into a huge boiler to flash off sufficient volume of gas to mix with air at 15 to 1, then pump into the natural gas lines to run a steel plant when the gas company curtailed them. We fondly referred to it as the Armageddon Plant where I pushed the start button for the first time. Propane is no big deal when used properly.

Dining room Would rather have a table and chairs because my son is tall and his knees hit the table leg - We converted ours keeping the table top, bought bar stools and bar height metal frame This made that section lighter in weight I have a propane stovetop and oven but refuse to use it because of the nightmare our first RV had - I would use it all the time if it were electric I thought I wanted a tankless water heater for the shower but after getting so used to taking military showers, I didn't see the need when we got this 5th wheel One thing you didn't touch on was refrigerator I'll take a household fridge over gas/electric fridge any day - Summertime the heat from outside literally starts melting things in my freezer and fridge when it's hot Having the awning out doesn't help Also in the heating department We had vents in the floor of our first RV We could never use the propane in that RV (used a space heater) but I hated how dog hair would constantly get in the trap So when I saw the heat came out of side vents in our current 5th wheel, I was excited - That was until we spent our first night in there (January) The air literally came out cold out of the vents Glad we have a fireplace in here

Our 23 Tiffin Phaeton XSH 40 is an all electric coach that took some getting use to because our previous diesel coaches both had propane. Our cooktop heats evenly, but it was helpful that our coach came with nice, s.s. appropriate cookware. Our convection micro- wave has an air-fryer and the AquaHot 450D has heat and hot water w/o limits. We do enjoy not having to fill the propane with its dangers, and this seems safer. Heated porcelain floors are wonderful and would be hard to give up. But these coaches are all so expensive and it would be difficult going without these creature comforts once you've had them. The theater seating is unreal and that was the one we had to have. I wish all the rest was FREE!
