Two things I forgot to mention… YOU WILL NEED INSURANCE AND STORAGE figured out before you go to pick up the RV. My insurance with Progressive ended up being around $950/yr, and covered storage is $150/mo.

I would recommend getting your tires are wheels balanced on your new r.v. to cut down on vibration inside the r.v. as you travel. It really does help a lot. Good luck and have fun.

Both of my brothers are linemen and the linemen that travel for work are called tramps which is what they did for years and they both have 5th wheels and they both half 3/4 ton trucks. They both drove semi trucks before that. I have a 34' travel trailer for recreation.

I actually have a printed spreadsheet I made and use to make sure everything is ready for moving. It may seem silly, but I do not want to forget some simple little thing and have it turn into a big problem. I recently looked at a used fifth wheel I was considering buying but the thing was trashed (door and TV on the floor) because it was not ready for towing when the moving company brought it to the dealership. The spreadsheet also gives me piece of mind while driving. I am not constantly questioning, did I remember to do this or that. Congrats on the new RV. I hope you love it!

In regards to TOWING since it have been mentioned a few times… in addition to what I said, you’re adding more weight to your vehicle so you need to allow more time to stop. Double check all your hitch connections to make sure the RV is secured properly (I’ve seen trailers pop out of the hitch and damage the vehicle), and do some research on how your brake controller works on your truck so you understand how to set the braking power.

I’ve been watching your channel for a while I’m going to be a new owner hopefully next year. You really covered both sides as you mention at the beginning. For example, you talked about financing and I will just pay for it in full. And then I realized that you gave many points of you throughout the entire video. I’m torn between a motorhome, preferably class a. I would prefer the motorhome, but hold my little car, but I will also consider just a fifth wheel, not a travel trailer. So I’ll start taking notes now what I like about each vehicle, so I’m prepared when I shop, thanks Miles you did a great job

I've watched a couple of your videos and you keep saying that the payload is the stuff you put in the bed plus the hitch weight, but that's not entirely correct. The payload capacity of a truck is with the truck totally empty with nobody sitting in it. You and your passengers are part of the payload as is the weight of any hitch accessories such as a weight distribution hitch. So, you need to subtract your weight, your passenger's weight as well as the weight of a weight distribution hitch, if one is used in order to determine how much capacity is left for hitch weight and other stuff.

Im guessing you have gone down the rabbit hole looking at different trucks to tow with. If youre really traveling long distances, a 3/4 ton diesel would be perfect. There are starting to be more used late model rigs on the market, lol, shop till ya drop!

That’s a great choice… the separate bedroom is really nice in a small space… it makes it feel bigger… if I were young and just starting out I would start my life in an Rv… whether it be a Van or travel trailer… go for it. At least look in to the process and see if you qualify for a loan because you can stretch those loans out for years if you had to… you can always pay it off early if you can….

Congrats on being an RV owner! That differentiates you from MANY other RV reviewers (and even most manufacturers and RV designers!) on KZbin. ChatGPT doesn't know about newer RV manufacturers like Ember... thanks for pointing that out! Your floor plan pick looks very similar to Ember's E-Series 24RLD (it's a very popular setup). We always thought you'd end up in an Overland Series after your videos last year. Best of luck and travel safely!

BIG congrats on your new RV. Consider your fuel cost towing your trailer. The cost of fuel for your truck alone would be little less than half, plus when you factor in hotel rooms (avg $100 per night), plus eating out for meals vs staying in your RV at a park. It's my experience you will break even, or even come out ahead. The price of staying in your own "home" when you travel is priceless.

Congrats Myles--looks like Blue Compass gave you a smoking end of year deal to fit within your budget--that's awesome, man! I didn't watch your entire 54-min video, but love that you bought an Alliance. I think Ryan & Coley have genuinely built a better RV company and it shows. The only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on a Delta is that they have leaf springs and I'm smitten with a (Dexter) torsion axle/suspension. Planning to speak with the bro's at the Tampa RV show next month to see if they have any plans to upgrade to torsion suspensions in 2025, otherwise I'll most likely end up with a similar Rockstaff product instead.

My husband and I have owned four travel trailers over the years. We are looking for another RV and I have been researching actual fibreglass mold travel trailers. I wondered if that was something you ever even considered ? They tend to be smaller so loss of space would be a compromise but I believe quality and longevity of the unit would be the trade off. The one I am considering is a 23 foot Escape.

Congratulations, Myles. I’m in a similar situation with my 2020 tundra. When I do the calculations on the potential payload capacity, I find that many many modest-sized TT’s will exceed that capacity. To start, I factored in my truck with two passengers and a full tank of gas weighed via a CAT scale. I’d love to know how you calculated things given you also want to have a cycle in the bed. Also, wondering the effect of a weight distribution hitch and the model you chose. Thanks and safe travels.

Cool video, congratulations on your new RV. One thing I would not advise people to do is to bundle the cost of the accessories into the financing. Why? Because you end up paying interest on those items for the duration of the loan. It's best to pay for it separately.

We bought a new Tiffin and it was a horrible buying experience. And the service department was so incompetent my husband brought the warranty parts home and did the work himself. Tiffin themselves have been fantastic and helpful, so there’s that 🤷‍♀️😂 Glad yours was good, congrats it’s wonderful! 🎉🎈

If I was buying a motorhome, I’d go through Motorhome Specialist in TX as they are one of the largest motorhome dealers in the Country. Glad you guys are able to figure stuff out yourself though! That helps a lot.

yeah for a new truck its about $13-20 per thousand on financing per $1000...on an RV probably bit more as the terms and rates are higher and longer typically purchased a new GMC 2500 HD truck a few months ago and getting an RV to live and work out of....going solo on the road, still researching....as a home builder tool storage is the biggest hurdle... paying cash for the RV as well and there are some pretty good discounts currently
