Did anybody else felt really lonely after finishing the game, like you spend hundreds of hours and then theres nothing more to do, when you spawn in Kaer Morhen after completing the game and there is no one there but you and then you remember Vesemir was the only one who took care of the castle and now there is nobody to take care of it. Also at the very beginning of the game, when you and vesemir were headed to White Orchard, he asks Geralt whether he will come back to Kaer Morhen, now theres nobody there anymore.

This feels like more realistic ending though. I first got the witcher ending but felt everything too good to be true, and the whole game was far from fairy tale. Then I went for the empress ending and saw the detail and effort the developers put in this ending. I say the witcher ending was made for the players who wish Ciri to be happy, but the empress ending was what the developers had in mind.

xLetalis Anywhere. After getting so involved with the game, it was heartless for the DEVS to just make the main characters disappear. People on game forum had idea on how to still have the main character for example, have the option of conversation (even if repetitive), usual relationship staff. I felt depressed in Kaer Mohan after the end of the game (Ciri became a witcher in my ending) and instantly fast travelled out of there. And yesterday, I fully uninstalled the game. Maybe being alone is the true witcher life. Sigh.

Me too, actually I think I did tear up if I'm being honest (not the only time this game brought those kind of emotions out in me, which is rare!) After 3 games, 7 books, I became very close with these characters. I also believed that I had made fairly good decisions, at the time I didn't know what the 3 endings were and how you achieved them, so I was a loss for words at the time, I didn't think that could be the best/good ending which I was hoping for. Unfortunately I made the mistake of looking up what determined the endings that you received, I didn't want direct spoilers, just a subtle nod in the right direction out of curiosity wondering what lead to my empress ending. Of course the person's post that I read on the official Witcher forum didn't format their thread ideally. They had written the 3 different endings in such a way that it was unavoidable to skim over them while reading, and it didn't take a speed reader since they were written in only a few words, so long story short, I was technically spoiled on the other 2 endings! :( learned my lesson the hard way. I still plan on doing at least 2 PT to see the other endings myself and to make other decisions differently. Such an incredible game, series of games and books, I love the Witcher universe.

TheDarkSider Radovid didn't win anything in my game. Knowing what a fanatic viper he was, I jumped at the chance to assassinate him instantly. Phillippa Eilhart killed him and Temeria was free. Also, realizing that Ciri was wanted by Emhyr to rule in his stead (since he planned on giving the throne to her), Nilfgard conquering everything was better by far. They had a way better economy, and were way more civilized when it came to treating non humans. With Ciri as Empress, a dawn of a New Age begins. Something similar to what Ceris did in Skellige, but to a much higher degree.

I think you hit the nail on the head. The "Empress+Triss romance" ending is basically the "Happily ever after" scenario, similar to Lord of the Rings with Aragorn becoming King while Frodo and Gandalf leave the world behind and those that remain live comfortable lives for the rest of their days.

Ciri is alive and that's good but the state of the land is worse than it was with the Nilfgaardian invasion. It was a great ending. All of them are.

Realist ending. Making Ciri a Witcher to make Geralt happy is pretty selfish. Especially as empress, Ciri can pretty much end all war almost instantaneously. I prefer the witcher ending. As empress Ciri will be a bird in a golden cage, married to Morvran Voorhis and manipulated from the shadows by her father. She will not be happy. A witcher's life is hard but she will be free and she will be happy. It's more in line with her personality and she will find new friends on the road just like Geralt has. Maybe even true love just like Geralt has. And I just don't buy all this talk that Ciri *must* be empress for the greater good etc. Look at how much Geralt and Ciri have accomplished as Witchers. They've lifted curses, reunited loved ones, stopped mad rulers, ensured good rulers came into power, saved villages, stopped the Aen Elle invasion, stopped the white frost.... they did all this as witchers, not as rulers of countries or men. Besides - Ciri is the lady of space and time. She can literally go anywhere and do anything. Saying that she *must* stay in this universe and be the ruler of Nilfgaard is frankly incredibly narrow-minded. In my ending she becomes a witcher and spends a few years on the path honing her skills. Then I imagine her going to other places, and finding new challenges and new civilizations to help. There will be places in time and space that need her more than this one.

I don't think that you even know about Witcher universe then. All the stories may have Geralt as protagonist but ultimately, Ciri is the prime focus. She completely changed Geralt and brought him closer to Yen. The moment Geralt invokes the Law of Surprise, Ciri and Geralt got bonded through destiny. It became Geralt's destiny to find and care about Ciri. Witcher 3 is just the acknowledgement of this very fact. Geralt, Yen and Ciri are meant to be together, it's what their destiny is.

It's funny, I knew that there were some good and bad endings, but ended getting the one I knew nothing about. I was very sad to see her go, but at the same time I was so proud of her. Let's take the mind reading thing for example. Geralt hates it when sorceresses read his mind. Understandable, who enjoys their privacy being invaded? Triss respects this and has, to my knowledge, only read his mind once: in TW1 when she found him unconscious in a swamp and needed to know what happened so she could know how to treat him. And IIRC she apologized for even that. Yennefer does it constantly with absolutely no regard for Geralt's wishes. Her insulting reasoning is that he shouldn't have secrets from her. Not 5 minutes after she says that, she demands his help stealing something from Ermion and refuses to tell him anything about why. He's not allowed secrets from her, but she's constantly keeping things from him. *Constantly*. Just about anytime you see her, she's demanding Geralt do something or other for her and doesn't deign to even let him know why he's assigned his task. Like a dog. I doubt she will even marry general vohris (even tho he's a nice guy), as he state in the game, if she won't want to. Geralt is not really "giving" her to Emhyr, she decide it herself, if he keeps his word to the emperor, who gave him resources to find her. She knows what her father did, but she doesn't go there to love him, she says she goes there to change the things are. As a player you can force any conclusion to this story, but IMO this is the one that heroes would draw themselves given the choice.

As a witcher ciri does impact the world and does help people but in a much smaller scale while also having fun and enjoying herself. As an empress the opposite might be true, less fun and less enjoyment but a much broader impact on the world while also helping many more people. This ending is so sad. Even though it's sad, I kind of enjoy this ending. A happy ending is good but I also like when things go a different route, this is a balanced ending, it has happy and sad as well. It's better than Ciri and geralt dying. But this is really a hard choice, sacrifice your happiness and wishes to help other people, or live as you wish and have fun. Many people say "the point of living is to help people and have an impact on this world." Many also say "what's the point of living if you don't live life however you want to?" I think the witcher ending and the empress ending are similar, the difference is the balance of the elements but in different ways.

I personally feel the whole “they’ll basically never see each other again” thing a bit of a reach. I mean it is what seems to be happening, she doesn’t see him until blood and wine, but... why? Emhyr seems to care (for the people bringing up the books, yes it was effed up what he did but note how he p much immediately let her go, planning something is not the same as doing it and I’m not gonna condemn him for the equivalent of a thought crime), I don’t think he’d be like “and now you shall never see Geralt again.” I mean if he DID do that he’d probably lose her for good. And she can TELEPORT, surely she could just pop out and see Geralt at some point? Or even have him stay at the palace, who’s gonna stop her or Emhyr? Just felt far fetched that this is an almost permanent goodbye. (Also for those saying this is good because it’s “realistic” to how unhappy The Witcher is, no. Please stop. This is how we get crappy downer nihilistic endings all the time. I don’t go through over a hundred hours to find my lost kid so I can lose her again in the name of “deep” bittersweet/depressing endings. Happy endings aren’t bad or shallow).

There comes a point in time where one must grow into their new life, one of duty and responsibility rather than adventure and happiness. It's a tough viewpoint, but I believe this is the best ending. Throughout the story Ciri has proven that she's capable to do what she needs to do, this is her moment, crossing the threshold of adventure into duty.

She's just a perfect storm that will lead to that child. The White Frost is just a natural calamity, not an extradimensional threat. It's essentially global warming. Ciri's child will not defeat the White Frost, but will lead others through a mass evacuation. Others want Ciri for her womb. The game completely glosses over that Auberon died because of an aphrodisiac overdose to rape Ciri. The Wild Hunt wanted her child too. Cause elven supremacy and such, I actually forgot about that part lol. Ciri basically ends up leaving behind everything, escaping from the shadow of Destiny. Her own path. But the game just makes her the chosen one to save the world from an extradimensional calamity. That and they fuck up her relationship with Yennefer too. They mess up quite a bit of Yennefer in general. I recall Book Ciri saying she wants to be known as Ciri of Vengerberg. But Game Ciri says "Yennefer has plans for me but Avallac'h is different" like throwing Yennefer under the bus, and glossing over a character that wanted her to be raped because he's a racist asshole. Speaking of Yennefer, don't get me started on The Last Wish! The wish wasn't love, Geralt and Yennefer truly love each other, no wish needed, and the comments by CDPR about this quest is mind boggling and stupid. For the same reason of Ciri escaping destiny is why I don't like the Empress ending either, that basically spits in the face of her development in the books, where she just submits to the destiny laid out by her father. And now everyone knows that she's his daughter, no mention of him marrying a fake Ciri. Yeah the ending is well directed, and sad, and it's fine if all you got is the games, but with the context of the books it is pretty bad. The bad ending is much true to the books, so is the Witcheress ending, although it's very much a happy ending. Think of the bad ending as the novels, nd the Witcheress ending and Blood and Wine as the non-canon short story "Something Ends, Something Begins". Everything else is pretty good though! Especially Hearts of Stone. You could have told me that Hearts of Stone was an unpublished manuscript by Sapkowski, wouldn't have batted an eye. Shame he doesnt like games, he may have an aneurysm from the main quest, but he probably would like the Bloody Baron and Hearts of Stone especially.

There is no bad ending though, all of them are good in their own way and this ending is what's best for the whole world and she can even help Geralt much more. Here’s the thing, witcher stories typically end in bittersweet notes. Therefore this ending “feels” more like a witcher ending. But it is the least canonically likely because of the characters. Geralt is unlikely to bring Ciri to Emhyr. He cares about her, and cares not a bit for Emhyr. Even if he did take her to Emhyr, she would not have chosen to become empress, seeing as Emhyr killed her mom and tried to rape/impregnate Ciri herself. I could actually buy it that Ciri took responsibility to make the world better. She showed great maturity in facing the white frost too. But I don’t necessarily see her wanting to. Emhyr May simply continue trying to control her, as she knows. I also don’t get her whole “if i want to change the world I can’t do it hunting monsters” thing. Change the world how? No one in the Geralt’s crew has ever desired to change the world, and furthermore, Ciri just saved the world. Plus as much as he’s an asshole, Emhyr is a good ruler and will bring order to the lands he conquers. There are just a lot of things that lead up to the empress ending that I doubt would ever occur in the books. I do believe Ciri could be a world changing leader, the “queen Elizabeth” of her world, but I don’t think it would come about like this. Furthermore, she actually probably can and will do better changing the world on the path. Geralt himself has shown, time and again, how a witcher with a good heart may change the course of history. This ending is beautifully crafted though, and invokes far more emotions than the Witcher ending.

I actually enjoyed that ending, not actually enjoyed, but thought it was a well written ending. Usually those endings are short and poorly written compared to the other ones. It was the highest point of Geralt's emotional state. You can tell he changed from losing Ciri. Most dramatic character development in the game. The fact that the game doesn't even mention Yen or Triss in the epilogue suggests this affected Geralt so much so, that they had a falling out. It's a powerful moment as Geralt portrayed what most players were feeling at the time without even saying much. Sad, angry, remorseful, and lonely.

At least for the world of the game. Ciri as the new Empress would literally be the best chance for a united kingdoms under her rule. She's intelligent, Sassy as hell, a master swordsman, and has crazy multidimensional powers where she can send people to another world taken by the white frost as punishments.

While she might be a fair and good empress. Not many would rejoice being under the governance of Nilfgaard regardless of who sits on the throne. There would be bloodshed until the Kingdoms are fully pacified. No way peaceful. Best thing she can do is just leave Northern Kingdoms and return the lands that Nilfgaard took, but I doubt the Nilfgaardian nobility would agree with that. Ofc as an empress she has the final say, but making enemies with the nobility leads to assassination attempts and paranoia. Paranoia leads to what Radovid was doing in Witcher 3. Executing people who looked at him funny. Executing people who look at her funny leads to the common folk getting agitated and ultimately riot. Still the best ending when considering peace, but peace is a fragile thing. "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely"

I got this ending after finishing the game a few days ago and I absolutely love it. And I love how Geralt said this isn't goodbye, and that Ciri can always find him... amazing game!

When i saw the snow i got nervous and i even got more anxious when ciri acted irritated after killing the wyvern saying "there won't be a next time!" i thought she didn't stop the white frost and they are just experiencing their last moments would've been very depressing ending.

It's actually best ending. Ciri will be much more safe as Empress than a witcher. Also it's her personal decision. If we didn't take her to Emhyr she wouldnt have possibility to consider this choice. I think that Geralt will always protect Ciri and if anyone try to hurt her or overthrow he will arrive and fight for his beloved daughter.

Something I dont understand is when prople argue that the Witcheress is the best ending because that's what she truly wanted to be, but reading the comments I found out that you only get her to be a witcher if you dont take her to Emhyr. With that information i can only conclude that, if you actually give her a choice, she decides to become empress rather than a witcher (given that you're a good father so she doesnt die). Perhaps her becoming a witcher is the happiest ending for Geralt but, if she knows she has an option, she chooses to be empress, and perhaps that's the best ending for her? I hate that she gets married to some dude and doesnt get to be with Geralt, and that Pillipa remains involved, but honestly I was satisfied with this ending, bittersweet but sill great.

Funky Goose if you murder radovid and side with dijkstra after u can still take her to emhyr but she won‘t become empress in the end since he‘s dead and redania wins the war.

But you have to force her to go to Emyhr im pretty sure so thats against her choice. I think she only wanted to be empress after she spoke to Emyhr but a witcher was what she always wanted, and what vesimir wanted.

I dunno. I feel her choice gets slightly forced for her in this ending. The whole game she states she wants a normal life and to be free. If you take her to her daddy something she'd never do out her own free will if Geralt didn't mention it and he plants the idea of her being empress and being able to do more to aid people etc into her head, her being a kind hearted/good willed character she would chose to agree even if it ain't what she truly wanted. I guess that's the bitter sweetness of it all her being alive and content but ultimately put back on the pedestal she wanted to be free from. I only completed the game the other day (1st time) and got the Ciri being a free witcher, Geralt and Yen fucking off on their own and radovid dead ending. Being a sucker for a good well rounded love story ending, I'm pretty content with that.

You could think of it that way. But geralt does give her a choice, but she asks for his opinion, probably knowing that he doesnt like him. She was looking for approval not to visit him. Then her father manipulated her into becoming empress, but it wasnt what she wanted. Not to mention she marries someone she doesnt love and she marries a guy even though she's into women.

This is the best ending for me. Ciri keeps her royalty, avoided living in constant pressure from faking her death, and is learning something she doesn't know (how to manage a country). And if everything becomes unbearable and boring, she can use her power to just disappear and visits Geralt and co, and after a bit of refreshing holiday, she can go back to the palace. There is nothing that can limit her freedom actually.

This is the best ending IMO. It's not like they cut all ties, he can still go visit her whenever he wants, and she can go visit him too. She has heaps of spies at her disposal to help locate him, or just send him a message to go visit. It isn't the end of their relationship. Even if she had become a witcher instead, it isn't like they'd stay together forever. Witchers follow the path alone, only occasionally meeting back up. Ciri's witcher ending even says as much, that after Geralt finished training her, they set off independently. So it isn't like they'd be together forever in some kind of fantasy, fairy tale ending. She was his daughter and it is the job of every father to let his girl go and let her choose her own path and that inevitably leads her away from him. Not entirely, but they won't spend their whole lives under the same roof anymore because she's grown up and living her own life. As a witcher she could've been killed by some random monster and left to die alone in a ditch. As Empress, she would have heaps of protection. The sorceresses for example were all made basically homeless and without purpose, they could serve Ciri in Nilfgaard, and with ALL of them together, they would keep her safe and be able to do incredible things together. They had no where else to go, all the other kingdoms fell to Nilfgaard, and Ciri has relationships with all of them. Its a perfect match. And they'd want to protect Ciri because the previous Emperor kept them on a short leash, and they were hated and hunted pretty much everywhere else, so they'd want to keep Ciri around as long as possible to live comfortably by her good graces. Ciri would have the knowledge, the power, and the heart to make enormous positive changes to the entire world. Ciri as Empress is the best ending imo.

Why does everyone forget you can take and give Ciri Vesemir's Wolf Medallion? Vesemir even says if anything happens to him to be sure Ciri gets his Medallion, to show she is a true Witcher of the School of the Wolf.

At first I really hated this ending because i thought it was against Ciri’s happiness. But looking back at it, this is definitely the best ending for her. This ending was so sad and you can feel Geralts pain of losing her again. But at the end of the day, he knows he can’t be her helicopter dad forever. Ciri is finally grown and needs to be independent. With her being an Empress, Geralt has the reassurance that she’s safe and she now has the resources, power and influence to make real changes. Any potential threat will have a much harder time trying to kidnap her again.

Ultimately the best ending for everyone besides Geralt and Ciri. The North is full of savages killing each other for honor, fanatics burning mages and other trouble. The Empire is harsh but this is still war. No one is innocent in this conflict. With Ciri in charge all the bad aspects about the Empire can be changed. What good could she do as a witcher for the greater good? She chose this for herself in this ending. She wasn't forced. This ending is the only way to achieve order and security for everyone.

The first scene of white orchard in the ciri witcher ending with the peace and warm sun is the best. Such a treat to come back home to. Wish there was a white orchard in this world.

First time I got this "canon" ending. It's also my favorite one bc Geralt did his job (as a parent and a pro) and actually helped shape the world into a better place . I like this better than Ciri becoming a witcher - yeah it's cute and sweet but it's kind of self-indulging.
