It’s not that simple. There have been conflicting court/government rulings in different countries. And the real issue IMHO is that the percentage of potato in pringles is the _dry weight_ of the potato powder used, while in real potato chips, the weight of the potato is of _fresh_ potatoes, which are 77% water. So the actual amount of de-watered potato in the finished product is very similar.

Honestly that extra pointless step has me confused. It is literally easier to make fresh pasta if you want that. You buy pre-made pasta to REDUCE your prep time, since most people can't dedicate lots of time to cooking.
@uosdwiSrdewoH Жыл бұрын
That one had me confused. Perhaps they like the taste of the dry pasta better but then why not just cook it from the pack? Was it the extra thickness? Dry pasta is pretty much just semolina which can be bought in flour form from your local grocery store and it's most likely cheaper since you aren't paying for the extra process of turning it into pasta. The extra step of ruining your blender is completely and wholly unnecessary.

@@echopeak5953@echopeak5953 growing up I used to ask people whenever I would go over to their house. Where is your line? Line? You know? To hang your pasta on. Of course my mother would always cook a lot so we had a few lines. Pretty smart system. She glued a heavy duty magnet and a hook. And she'd pull her line across the kitchen. I thought everyone had them in their home.. My friend's mom had dry pasta.. It was the first time I had ever had it. They thought I was crazy. No. Why would they think I was mentally ill I thought?.. gnocchi and spaghetti tortellini.. fussilli Which is a twisted pasta..tagliatelle a flatter noodle. Like a linguine. All was made by hand.. And you're right it's so easy to make.. Even the lasagna strips. I'm so happy and grateful for the way that I grew up. .. from my uncle's farm. To my other cousin's farms. To my great-grandfather's Italian pastry shop. For all the hard work every family member put into every meal. My first marinade... I had it down pat with meatballs by 11. Chef's kiss. And I nailed my focaccia and my sourdough by 8 years old. My husband when he met me. And found out that I could cook. First meal I made him. Herb-crusted veal with a mustard cream sauce. Smash garlic potatoes. Grilled veggies. He thought I bought it for my restaurant.😅 He made a really nice rule. If you cook I'll do dishes. If I cook you do dishes. He started cooking and I never said anything. I got tired of eating the same flavor profile with different proteins. But it was nice while it lasted. He went on strike That was 23 years ago.😅 I must admit. He's revisited cooking. Boy he didn't get back on the bike well on that. Nope forgot how to ride a bike. How to cook. It's okay. I'd rather eat my food.😂😂😂😂 It shocks me today how people really don't know the fundamentals of cooking and how simple it is.. One thing I did within cooking in my home. As much variety as possible. Of course we had our favorites. But... There's so much to eat around the world. So many delicious recipes. My mother kept it conglomerated. I love the valleys and peaks of the world's food. Each one mirroring each other. Different ways different varieties.. A tweak here and a tweak there and you have a whole new world. I love cooking. It is the one thing that you can bring people together. And if it's a good meal. No one is talking everyone is just eating. Makes a chef happy. Of course there could be talking. But when a meal is incredible. Normally people are quiet😂😂😂😂. I must say my son has a very refined high palette. And I'm glad I've raised him that way. Good protein fats. Sadly expensive but good grain. Good milk good cheeses. Good tomatoes. Good anchovies. Food. It is what bonds us together. Brings us together for those laughs. For the tears. For the years and years, it binds us. With family friends and even strangers. It is one commonality that I find so soothing. And as an Italian. You can't come to my house without me feeding you.. No questions asked. If you say it smells good. And you walk in and it's lunch or dinner. I will serve you. Service to others. Something humanity needs to do a little more.. I guarantee it's coming soon. Yes I think that is coming soon. Cuz where this world is going. We need each other more now than we ever have in our own lifetime. Young middle-aged and old. Especially against this oligarch bully AI don't worry AI will do all our jobs. Make your games. Make your movies. Sing your songs. Write your papers. You don't even have to exist. The visceral reaction I had when she said it was supposed to be shepherd's pie! I know how the Italians felt seeing the pasta being defiled in the first recipe. Like, there's so much wrong with it, but for starters... do they not realise there's no pastry involved in a shepherd's pie? Omg I'm still gagging at the pringle mush. Some people should be banned from the kitchen. The originals have to be some kind of rage bait, right?

As someone who lives for years in the UK, it’s a complete stereotype that UK don’t use seasoning. Herbs and spices are regularly used and Brits love their curry - the spicier the better. I shudder more at white US people and their cooking far more. They use waaaay too much fat and cheese. Also, I showed the “shepard’s pie”!portion to my northern MIL and she looked like she was ready to reenact the war of 1812 because of that bastardisation.

As a Brit who grew up with shepherds pie as my favourite meal, I'm pretty sure a chunk of my soul disintegrated when cali said that the monstrosity on that counter was supposed to be shepherds pie. For those who aren't aware, Shepherds pie is not really a pie and does not have any crust and pretty much always has lamb used as the meat (hence the name Shepherds pie). All it should have is ground meat (usually lamb) mixed with some veg and mash potato on top. THAT IS IT.

Practical cooking tip for beginners, always put pies on a sheet tray. It's easier to get the pie tin out if you don't need to grab it directly. If the pie overflows, you don't need to clean the bottom of your oven. Related to last one, if you manage to just grab the frozen pie crust, but not the pie tin, the mess it makes when it thaws and collapses is contained.
