Highly, highly underrated song. The line about the Willow turning his back on inclement weather gets me everytime. The Willow (trees) of course, are the most resilient of trees. A perfect analogy. Sadly, there _is_ an end, and it came for Denny Laine yesterday (5 December 2023). He's the leftmost one on the _London Town_ album cover above. He died of interstitial lung disease. Laine was also a founding member of the Moody Blues. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with that band in 2018, and he also gets a songwriting credit - alongside Paul McCartney, of course - for _With A Little Luck._ It is always sad when an artist dies...

I was about 14 when this came out. Eagerly anticipated by me. I saved all my paper-round money to buy it. I still have it now and I’m 60. The thing that I remember most vividly about this song when it came out was it was the only ray of optimism on the charts. I didn't care SO much for this song when it first came out - the Fender Rhodes, the mindlessly sunny optimism, weak lyrics like "the willow turns its back on inclement weather" (um, trees have backs?) - but here I am turning up the volume when the song comes on in my McCartney stream on KZbin. Very good song! Beautiful!
