The TurtleBeach Velocity One tries to do everything at once and just misses the mark. It's still a decent device if you don't overpay for it. It's compatible with XBOX and PC which makes it very versatile. You can also combine it with the VelocityOne rudder set. Have fun watching the review! Thanks! :) Sure - we all want better gear so I try to give helpful feedback as good as I can. And since this stick is kind of "the first of its kind" I expected it to be rough around the edges. The 100-130 flight stick price point still is one big underserved gap. A quality stick would hit like a bomb there. The VelocityTwo with a pincer gimbal for example ...

My personal recommendation to anyone using this is to modify the center return spring to make it weaker. Look up a tutorial video, it’s extremely easy and makes a world of difference!

Thrustmaster really needs to come up with a modern alternative to the T16000 with better centering that doesn't need modding, HAL sensor on the Z axis, more inputs on the stick itself and overhaul the crappy mush of buttons on the base. Oh and no lights on the base, those are just annoying.

That's a 40" iiyama VA. But I usually fly in VR. Will probably replace it with an LG C3 soon-ish.

Compared to the $90 Thrustmaster HOTAS that is known for breaking in under a year, it's an absolute steal and solid quality. The stiffness doesn't bother me at all. But the one thing that I despise is that there's a clear design flaw. The stick will slightly clunk on something inside. I returned the first two I got because of that, and then kept the third. It's something that moves around inside, maybe some wiring connection or something, because the clunk isn't always the same, sometimes it's gone, sometimes it's pretty annoying. Sometimes it's when you move the stick right, sometimes it's when you pull back. I later found out that my dad's stick also does the same thing. Aside from that, I like it. I don't use that track pad at all. I disabled it immediately and just use it as a button.

Worst issue (other than the trackpad which can easily be disabled) is actually the throttle sensitivity - or rather the lack of responsiveness. From idle position to reaction, you need to move the thottle ~15-20%. This is not usually a significant issue when flying a fixed wing aircraft... but makes the device unsuitable for collective control in a helicopter. Compared to the throttle axes on the TB V1 yoke, the Thrustmaster airbus quadrant, or even the Thrustmaster Hotas One (for which build quailty and precision is not exactly something it is renowned for), this is particularly noticeable, making hovering, manoevering, flying at a consitent height, or controlled landings more a matter of luck than of skill. As such, and particularly as there is no standalone throttle quadrant available for xbox (all those above and others of which I have no direct experience) can only be connected to the xbox through the stick / yoke with which they are bundled; I would recomend extreme caution before purchasing this for xbox, especially considering the issues with respect to stick stiffness. IMO, for helii control on the xbox, the most suitable device is the "Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack X Airbus Edition" which generally retails for ~£250 but can somtimes be sourced for ~£200. Otherwise you are better off with the TM Hotas one (despite its terrible build quality)

​@@WatchMysh Yeah - purchased from a friend (2nd hand) to supplement my V1F Yoke, specifically for Helicopters, and replacing my old (much abused, broken and repaired multiple times) Hotas One which I still used for Helis. I, and another friend who also has the V1 Stick, were wondering why our friend who I had acquired my V1 stick off and who had replaced it with the above recommended "Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack X Airbus Edition", had suddenly gone from being significantly worse at flying helicopters, to significantly better... and I meanwhile had gone from acceptable to "sometimes might survive the landing, but will probably need new skids and a complete airframe inspection" I then as an experiment mapped one of the quadrant axis on my V1F Yoke to the collective, and flew with the stick on the floor to the right of my cockpit, with my left hand stretched over to the quadrant on my right... unergonomic to say the least... but I was immediately able to hover consistently and control the height of the Helicopter without too much issue. Needless to say, I was somewhat frustrated, having purchased the stick specifically for Helis. 😡 Hopefully this will prevent someone else making the same mistake and wasting their money (unless of course someone wants to buy my stick... in which case it's amazing 😂)

This stick looks nice...but I am really wanting to see the new Hotas coming out in Feb. It looks like it may be a real nice setup, but since it has a large touchscreen part...it may just be a gimmick.

I'm already looking out for a review sample. But thing is: It's 400€ here on release and the gimbal seems to be the same as the one used in the VelocityOne. This means it's almost as expensive as a Winwing Orion2 hotas system which uses a high end gimbal and very likely is vastly superior in general build quality (cast aluminum grip for example). But we'll see. :) It releases on the 14th as far as I'm informed.

Tough call... if you're already at 110€ I'd rather invest 60 more and get a VKB Gladiator. It's leagues above the VelocityOne. Or invest less and get the same quality for half the price (t16000). It's uglier, though. For 10-20 bucks more you can get the t16000fcs with a dedicated throttle unit.

@@bono622 If you're still checking if you like flight sims or not then I'd suggest to buy a second hand but well maintained Logitech Extreme 3D pro for 30 bucks. The VelocityOne is way to expensive for just trying stuff out. It's also overprized for what it offers. Save your money for a decent stick if you decide to continue with the hobby.

Fully aggree with your excellent review. The stiffness is a no go, I sold the stick again! They should forget about the "touchpad" which cannot work in such a tiny space. Just a gimmick. Making friction/stiffness adjustable would be a game changer. In the meantime a VKB Gladiator is definitely the better choice in my personal daily experience.

@@khrenaud I followed the same steps in the video, but instead of cutting the spring I loosened the four screws holding the metal plate instead. Just make sure you loosen them equally to relieve the tension on the spring underneath the metal plate.

I bought one and regret it. Feels cheap and nasty. I have just picked up the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS combo and the FA-18 stick to go with it as I fly the F18 exclusively in DCS. Oh, and I don't need or want fancy fairy lights on any of my gear either.

I've heard its centering mechanism is not goood. Extremely strong center detent and relatively weak at full delfection. It makes controls very unconfortable and reduces precission. Good stick has linear centering forces. Not like this one.

Nice design but alot of useless thing ( screen, trackpad who is also impossible to rebind, rumble, 3 usb ports ) and lack of others that could be easily add ( 2 stage buttons and trigger, break lever ). They could lower the price by making a better stick. Looks cool but for me, its no worth the price.

I've been thinking about it a bit and came to the following conclusion: Guess they plan to put their stuff on display in retail stores. There's no Virpil, no VKB and no WinWing there. If there's just an extreme 3D and t16000 in the shelf with it along with some cheap random brand devices the VelocityOne and the FlightDeck give the impression of a "premium product".

Does what? The old EVO has two scroll encoders on the base, the new one replaces one with a two position momentary switch. Both have 1 throttle axis on the base. Both lack a trackpad.
