Another Dutch singer who is also a rising star is Davina Michelle. She started as a cover singer. She did a cover of Pink ' What about us'. She was in a video with Season 12 Beste Zangers favorite of mine, and fellow KZbinr, Emma Heesters & another male singer who's name I'm blanking on right now. The video was for the King's Day, all-dutch music radio celebration I think.

Sharon den Adel is autodidact. She studied on a Fashion Academy and makes her own outfits. I think her name was pronounced "Ahn-nikka" and yes this was from Within Temptation's concert Black Symphony back in 2008. Didn't expect you like orchestral ballad..but songs like Forgiven and The Swan Song from this particular concert are another level of divine. You should check them out 😊

These two ladies are amazing, together and apart. Cooperation is quite normal over here in Europe and special in Symphonic Metal scene. Listen to the Ayreon project of Arjan Lukassen, there you can listen and see what I meant.

Anneke (annuhkuh) (the 'u' pronounced like in wonderfull) was the front singer of the Gathering, started in 1995. One of the first metal/rock/gothic bands with a female frontsinger. She is a trained singer. Within Temptation is inspirered by them. Anneke toured with Within Temptation in 2011 as a supporting act. The Gathering toured in the USA also. Did you expect that she also sings Amaricana with the band Lorrainville? I met Anneke once (her hometown is nearby) she was doing a masterclass. A wonderfull nice and modest person. She sang some acoustic songs also.... that was a great day! If you want to check out Anneke with The Gathering then this is the best performance to watch. It was shot by fans but at the 25th anniversary shows but the audio is from the live album of those shows. Best of both worlds. Her band The Gathering and their 1995 release Mandylion, specifically the song Strange Machines, Floor cites that song in particular as showing her that Metal was so much more than just anger and screaming, and that she wanted to do what Anneke did.

We Americans tend to want to say "ann-NEEK." But I was once corrected that it should be "ONN-nikka." Her and Sharon are both Dutch. Floor Jansen is Dutch. Simone Simons of Epica is Dutch, Charlotte Wessels of Delain is Dutch..... Notice a pattern? Must be something in the water! …. I much prefer to listen to "emotional reactors" like you, because that's what music is all about to me also. It has to stir something in the heart. And therefore it is fun to share time with somebody who reacts similarly. Technical reactors I sometimes enjoy also, but more often than not I find them boring because I don't understand the technical aspects of music the way they do and care about such things only sporadically. I only know what stirs my heart and what doesn't.

For sure I suggested it several times :-) Sharon den Adel is such a great singer and Anneke, the guest singer, as well. Together they are just awesome, switching high and low parts during the song. Two of the at least five great Dutch symphonic metal singers. Just by the way: Anneke is pronounced slighliy different: It's difficult to write. The "ke" is pronounced like the "ca" in catch.

Great reaction....oh yes our dutch singers are amazing! Another dutch female fronted band is ExLibris. The leadsinger is opera singer Dianne van Giersbergen. They released an album about 3 historical figures all called Ann. Ann Boleyn, Anastasia Romanov and Anne Frank. Listen to The Courtship for example. Too bad you didn't hear this at it's best, this video is probably the worst version of this performance because someone messed with the sound resulting in that strange hollow sound that makes sound like they're in a cave or something.
