Israeli Holocaust and Genocide scholar Raz Segal says Israel’s ongoing assaults on Gaza are a "textbook case of genocide" against Palestinians.
Mark Seddon: "Are there acts of genocide now taking place in Gaza?"
“Without a doubt in my view… If we understand that genocide requires the special intent to destroy.. we’re seeing it now across the board in Israeli politics and society and culture. Anyone who follows Hebrew language sources, see it everywhere - annihilatory, explicit, unashamed language.”
From our latest show with Raz Segal, Chris Doyle (director @caabu) & Karim Ali, Co-founder @gazasunbirds. Watch in full: • #83 STOP THE GENOCIDE ...

Thank you for your analysis of Israeli genocide against Palestinians, but I am very surprised that you made the analogy with the Russian intervention in Ukraine and suggested that Nazism was not a big problem in Ukraine. It clearly is to any unbiased observer, and Ukrainian officials were openly genocidal against the ethnic Russian population of Donbass, targeting civilians and waging war against them leading to 14,000 deaths in 8 years. From the Nation: "February 22, 2019 Neo-Nazis and the Far Right Are On the March in Ukraine Five years after the Maidan uprising, anti-Semitism and fascist-inflected ultranationalism are rampant. Lev Golinkin Five years ago, Ukraine’s Maidan uprising ousted President Viktor Yanukovych, to the cheers and support of the West. Politicians and analysts in the United States and Europe not only celebrated the uprising as a triumph of democracy, but denied reports of Maidan’s ultranationalism, smearing those who warned about the dark side of the uprising as Moscow puppets and useful idiots. Freedom was on the march in Ukraine. Today, increasing reports of far-right violence, ultranationalism, and erosion of basic freedoms are giving the lie to the West’s initial euphoria. There are neo-Nazi pogroms against the Roma, rampant attacks on feminists and LGBT groups, book bans, and state-sponsored glorification of Nazi collaborators. These stories of Ukraine’s dark nationalism aren’t coming out of Moscow; they’re being filed by Western media, including US-funded Radio Free Europe (RFE); Jewish organizations such as the World Jewish Congress and the Simon Wiesenthal Center; and watchdogs like Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Freedom House, which issued a joint report warning that Kiev is losing the monopoly on the use of force in the country as far-right gangs operate with impunity. Five years after Maidan, the beacon of democracy is looking more like a torchlight march. A neo-Nazi battalion in the heart of Europe “Volunteer Ukrainian Unit Includes Nazis.”-USA Today, March 10, 2015 The DC establishment’s standard defense of Kiev is to point out that Ukraine’s far right has a smaller percentage of seats in the parliament than their counterparts in places like France. That’s a spurious argument: What Ukraine’s far right lacks in polls numbers, it makes up for with things Marine Le Pen could only dream of-paramilitary units and free rein on the streets. Post-Maidan Ukraine is the world’s only nation to have a neo-Nazi formation in its armed forces. The Azov Battalion was initially formed out of the neo-Nazi gang Patriot of Ukraine. Andriy Biletsky, the gang’s leader who became Azov’s commander, once wrote that Ukraine’s mission is to “lead the White Races of the world in a final crusade…against the Semite-led Untermenschen.” Biletsky is now a deputy in Ukraine’s parliament. In the fall of 2014, Azov-which is accused of human-rights abuses, including torture, by Human Rights Watch and the United Nations-was incorporated into Ukraine’s National Guard. While the group officially denies any neo-Nazi connections, Azov’s nature has been confirmed by multiple Western outlets: The New York Times called the battalion “openly neo-Nazi,” while USA Today, The Daily Beast, The Telegraph, and Haaretz documented group members’ proclivity for swastikas, salutes, and other Nazi symbols, and individual fighters have also acknowledged being neo-Nazis. In January 2018, Azov rolled out its National Druzhina street patrol unit whose members swore personal fealty to Biletsky and pledged to “restore Ukrainian order” to the streets. The Druzhina quickly distinguished itself by carrying out pogroms against the Roma and LGBT organizations and storming a municipal council. Earlier this year, Kiev announced the neo-Nazi unit will be monitoring polls in next month’s presidential election. "

I still cant understand why this is called genocide. Yes, hamas stopped the civilians that were urgently asked to move to the south, and indeed civilians die at the bombing locations. The holocaust was quite different. The Germans deported the Jews to secretly kill them (preferably all). The germans didn't warn the Jews. And on the other side: are there moslim countries that are willing to live in peace with the Jews? Or would there be a genocide among them? For as far as I can check: probably.

This is why Israel is waging war on Gaza and not because of Hammas. In 1999, BG Group was granted an exploration license by the Palestinian National Authority, and in 2000, BG Group discovered the Gaza Marine gas field. The field has enough natural gas to supply the Palestinian territories and still have a surplus for export, making the Palestinian territories more energy independent.

People should know we are all vulnerable. Here is a brief story. A Christian family experienced death at the hands of the Palestinians 20 years ago. A young Marine took a high-paying job in Israel to pay for his wife’s cancer treatments. He was in charge of the mission to escort an American Ambassador into Gaza to present Palestinian students' scholarship to American Universities. He was driving in a three-car caravan with two other Marines in the middle car. At 4 in the morning, we received a call to turn on the TV. I saw with my own eyes the shocking scene of his blown-up car with three dead Marines as children as young as six years old, dancing and chanting “God is Great” in Arabic. Are these the children in America today?

There are literally billions of Muslim people around the world that just go about their business, love their families, live their lives. This kind of attitude pushes Islamophobia which leads to hate crimes which leads to bad actors using that to radicalise vulnerable people that have been victims of said Islamophobia.

It's completely dishonest to consider only 2% of history. Frustrated by confusing & contradictory information, I researched the history of the land we call Israel and Palestine today. Who lived on it first? Israelites lived on land 1,658 years before the ancestors of Palestinians. Palestinian ancestral land is the Arabian Peninsula. Palestinian is a modern word from the 20th century. "Palestine" was the name given by the Romans to Judea after the Bar Kochba revolt, although the name's origins go back even further, perhaps being based on Philistine. Only the Canaanites and Philistine predate the Israelites. The descendants of Canaanites and Philistine is complex and not entirely resolved. The Israelites arrived C1300 BCE and established the Israelite Kingdoms of Israel and Judah. The Kingdom of Israel fell to the Assyrians in 722 BC, while the Kingdom of Judah was conquered by the Babylonians in 586 BCE. Next the land changed hands many times, until Arab Muslims conquered it in 638 CE and established an Islamic Caliphate. The Arab population, increasingly identifying as Palestinian particularly in the 20th century, has been a significant part of the social and cultural fabric of the area, especially during the periods of Islamic rule and the Ottoman Empire. A timeline: Canaanite Period (c. 3000 - 1200 BCE): The earliest known inhabitants were Canaanites, a Semitic-speaking people. Philistine Period (c. 1175 - 604 BCE): Philistines settled along the coastal areas, mostly in the Gaza Strip. Israelite Kingdoms (c. 1020 - 586 BCE): The Israelites, also a Semitic-speaking people, established the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Assyrian and Babylonian Periods (722 - 539 BCE): Assyrians and Babylonians conquered the region. Persian Period (539 - 332 BCE): Persia conquered the Babylonian empire, including this area. The Persians later reinstated Israel as a country. Hellenistic Period (332 - 167 BCE): Conquest by Alexander the Great, followed by the Ptolemaic and Seleucid rules. Hasmonean Kingdom (167 - 37 BCE): Jewish rule restored after the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucids. Roman Period (63 BCE - 324 CE): The area became a part of the Roman Empire, with Israel remaining a kingdom within that empire, with Rome appointing the king, until AD 44. Bar Kochba Period (132 CE - 136 CE): Simon bar Kochba let a Jewish revolt and for a short time revived Jewish sovereignty over land, until it was brutally crushed by the Roman Emperor Hadrian, who renamed Judea as Syria Palaestina to remove any trace of Jewish connection to the land. Byzantine Period (324 - 638 CE): Christian rule under the Byzantine Empire. Islamic Caliphate Era (638 CE - 1099 CE): Arab Muslims conquered Jerusalem in 638 CE, introducing Arab rule and Islamic culture to the region. Arabic gradually replaced Aramaic and Greek as the dominant language. Crusader Period (1099 - 1187 CE): European Christians captured Jerusalem and established the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Ayyubid and Mamluk Periods (1187 - 1516 CE): Saladin, a Kurdish Muslim leader, defeated the Crusaders. The Mamluks, who were of various ethnicities including Turkic and Circassian, succeeded the Ayyubids. Ottoman Period (1516 - 1917 CE): The Ottoman Turks controlled the region, and the Arab populace lived under Ottoman rule. British Mandate (1917 - 1948 CE): British control after World War I. Increased Jewish immigration leads to tensions between Jews and Arabs. State of Israel (1948 - Present): Established in 1948, leading to ongoing conflicts with Arab Palestinians. The ‘West Bank' is in fact ancient Judea, the land of the Jews. The 'Philistines' lived along the southwest coastline, nowhere near the Judean hills. But with all this, there has never been a Palestinian state.

Hamas is like a local government in the Gaza Strip, which is still de facto Occupied by Israel, as well as blockaded, with severe rationing of essentials (95% of the population had no access to clean water even before this latest conflict and food, fuel and medical supplies were strictly controlled). Palestine is not just the Gaza Strip, which is a tiny section to which many Palestinian people fled just after the declaration of the Zionist State of Israel in 1948. (Most of the population there are still refugees.) The rest of Palestine has been under brutal occupation, with homes razed to the ground by tanks and land stolen for illegal Israeli settlements, crops poisoned and cut down, communities cut off from water supplies, severely-restricted travel which can cut people off from work, education, essential medical treatment etc and other Palestinian communities. The clearly-stated intention is for Israel to continue to expand across Palestinian lands and drive the Palestinians out completely.

The appeal to authority is so strong on this one but they fail to come with a concise argument accompanied by all the key facts that lead to this situation. This so called "Scholar" fails to address why Hamas uses hospitals and residential areas as their strongholds, when it could be built around the open areas of Gaza. He also directly offends Israel and the jewish people when he throws around buzz words such as "genocide" when they're the ones who actually suffered an ethnic persecution around the world and at this moment witness antisemitism going through the roof while he's out there pushing factually incorrect ideas to say the least. And speaking of genocide, if the Gaza people has heen deliberately targeted as he says in a "genocidal" way, how does he explain the fact that Gaza is among the highest growing populations in the world? Isn't the premise of genocide to *anihilate* a certain group and not letting them breed and live? If Israel's intention is to commit a "genocide" in Gaza, why did they build Gaza's infrastructure from the ground and when extremist groups tried to kill them, instead of killing all the civilians they simply withdrew from there? Matter of fact, Israel is one of the strongest military powers in the world, if they want to commit a genocide, why didn't they do it already? There are so many questions that can put in check what this guy says and I'm not even trying.

Israel's history is full of massacres and genocide, you Jews know very well how to cry while slaughtering people, and the western media is supporting you.

"Genocide"does not have to mean wiping outall the members of a group. The Genocide Convention of 148 establishes 5 Prohibited Acts (actually some of these are groups of behaviours) which are recognised as representing Genocide. You can look this up in detail under "Genocide" on Wikipedia. Among these are, "subjecting a group of people to a subsistence diet, systematic expulsion from homes and the reduction of essential medical services below minimum requirement", which Israel has been subjecting Palestinians to ever since it became powerful enough to do so. In fact, 95% of the population in the Gaza Strip had no access even to clean water, prior to the current actions by Israel. Breaking up the cohesion of the group, either by internal displacement and confinement into separated, designated areas without free movement between, or forcing huge numbers to flee abroad (there are 6.4 million registered Palestinian refugees) is also "clearly designed to bring about it's destruction" - we're talking about the group here, not killing of individuals. "Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group" is self-evident by easily-found information on the huge numbers of deaths suffered by Palestinians over decades, and the detention without trial, sometimes including torture, of adults and children, often as young as 12. Seeing family members, neighbours or friends iinjured or killed also counts towards this category, as is being under occupation or subject to a Blockade. Netenyahu has always been very clear in his intent to expand across the whole region and drive the remaining Palestinians out. Israel was in fact formed under the Zionist creation myth of "A land without people for a People without a Home", despite the presence of well over half a million Muslim, and 71,000 Christian, Palestinian people in 1922.

Because the Israeli government has oppressed, dispossessed, ethnically cleansed and brutalised the Palestinians for decades! I’m not condoning at all what Hamas did, that was atrocious, but what Israel is now doing since 7 October is a continuation of ethnically cleansing the Palestinians unashamedly as the world watches. They seem to think what Hamas did gives them the right to destroy and remove the Palestinian from Gaza and likely The West Bank too. They will not stop until they possess all the land around them, watch it unfold and then tell my that 7million Palestinians being forced out of their country isn’t ethnic cleansing

In the 15 years prior to Oct 7th, 96% of deaths have been of Palestinians, 4% Israeli. That's not even counting those who have died of deprivation, lack of access to clean water and only very basic medical facilities, with access to appointments for essential treatments beyond checkpoints being frequently blocked, even for desperately sick children. Please explain how these deaths are all the fault of Hamas? In the entire history since the declaration of the State of Israel, Palestinian deaths have consistently been many times higher than Israeli deaths. Who was responsible for those in the decades before Hamas was even formed, far less an organisation of any consequence? And how much responsibility do you lay at Netenyahus door for supporting Hamas for decades, in order to split Palestinian allegiances and sabotage the chances of a Peace Agreement?

they are bombarding every day more than 1000 bombs per day. They cut off food, electricity, medicines, internet... Worst than the ghetto of Warsaw! they are the new nazis! Half of civilians death are children. I can tell you than the vast majority of the world support the justice and stand with Palestinians. The position of western governments particularly in France and the UK do not represent the public opinion in those countries.
