The idea works but not on a large clay pot. I almost give him a thumb down, but when I did this in a smaller clay pot I noticed that it worked! So, yes this is a must for emergency situations.

@Random_YT-Username
@Random_YT-Username 3 жыл бұрын
Bro no one replied and idk if you tried it. You can use normal water, thats the whole point I mean if you have cold water then u must have a fridge but if u put cold water at some point it will become a bit warm like 11 degree in this video. You need to keep it in dark and on the floor. If you can make a cement container and out the earthen bowl(is that what's it called?) the it will be way cooler cause the cold from the ground will help. Also if u are just making it to store milk and cold drink it's best to fill the bowl with water too. When I was a kid we had one like this. Mom made a square container out of mud. But it was fixed to the ground and the rest is same but we use to fill the bowl too. And man the water was cold.

It would have been better if your outer vessel was a big earthen ware pot and not a plastic bucket. It would have increased the evaporation rate and kept it lot cooler. The covering lid should have been a non metal to stop the outer heat from getting in. You seem to have missed out on the whole evaporative cooling process. Sorry!

It’s the pot.. in our country we call it LABU SAYONG but in a different design made from clay, used for to keep cold water in the old days. Now it’s an antique item and quite expensive..
@ShaneChanka
@ShaneChanka 5 жыл бұрын
The sand acts as an absorber to hold water. What happens when water evaporates? Water absorbs heat and leaves the cold. Heat travels up while cold stays down. Because of the rapid but steady evaporation of water, the cold is trapped by the clay pot as the water evaporates with the heat. That is why you need to keep it wet. It needs water to suck up all the heat. Theoretically, any temperature of water would work using this method, it’s just that hot water my take longer to cool, because there is soo much heat. Long story short, the heat from the clay pot is transferred to the water when it evaporates. I hope this makes sense and helped you!
@GregVasquez777

@@ShaneChanka Very nicely explained. I am just confused about the use of plastic for the outside pot. I assume the water will be trapped because of the non porous property of this material and therefore, will have no chance to evaporate. Am I right?
