Blessed _are_ the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Mat 5^5 KJV

When you peruse a pure heart, you’re naturally turning from the world and sin towards God. Heb 12:14 is about reflecting that to others. If we don’t manifest it, others won’t see Him in us. Salvation is not of our performance, but by faith in God’s grace through Jesus’s sacrifice. That naturally inclines a response, but we choose whether we act on it or not in the moment. Poor behaviour doesn’t negate salvation or else you’re saved/lost by works, and no more of grace (eph 2:8-9, rom 11:6).

@@myflourishingfam It clearly says Hebrews 12:14 Make every effort to live in peace with everyone AND TO BE HOLY, WITHOUT HOLINESS NO ONE WILL SEE THE LORD. It doesn't say "see the Lord in us" Adding those 2 words is wrong as it changes the meaning of the scripture You must stop teaching that a true believer who is striving to obey Jesus is works. That's not what Romans 11:6 is saying.

Absolutely it's our calling, but our performance isn't a requirement for heaven or else our works are a partial saviour and it's no longer by faith only. "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." Rom 11:6 That's a key distinction, or else Jesus isn't our Saviour in full, but a partial saviour. If we play a part, we're our own little saviours.

@myflourishingfam Obedience is nor works. For a true repentant believer our performance absolutely matters. We find examples in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 2 Corinthians 5:15 Galatians 5:16-24 Ephesians 5:3-11 Colossians 3:5-8 1 Peter 1:13-15 1 Peter 2:11-16 Also James and John, Jude and Revelation.

Thank you dear Brother! Eyes up! Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Acts 16:31 "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." Colossians 1:14 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:" Salvation is obtained by simply believing in Jesus' death (Blood sacrifice), burial and resurrection with all your heart for payment of all your sins, past, present and future.

Good video. Verse 15 gives more insight and demonstrates why we should practice the content in verse 14. "Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;" Showing Christ through ourselves is the first aid to a man who fails of the grace of God (we all do). Righteous living brings up those who are struggling. This was the key issue in the book of Hebrews. These believers needed encouragement due to possible martyrdom. God Bless

The term "holiness" refers to being set apart or consecrated for God's purposes. In this context, it signifies living a life that is distinct from the world, characterized by righteousness, purity, and devotion to God. The pursuit of holiness is a theme that runs throughout the Bible, particularly in the New Testament, as believers are called to be transformed and renewed in their minds and conduct. "without which no man shall see the Lord," underscores the significance of holiness in the context of eschatological salvation. This statement aligns with the broader biblical teaching that only the pure in heart will see God (Matthew 5:8), and that holiness is a prerequisite for entering God's presence. It serves as a sobering reminder of the ultimate consequence of neglecting holiness and failing to pursue a life of righteousness.
@myflourishingfam
@myflourishingfam Ай бұрын
I wholeheartedly agree with your first paragraph. "Without which no man shall see the Lord" is a reference to those earlier in the verse. When it says, "Follow peace with ALL MEN", the "all men" are those who shall see the Lord in our lives as we persue peace and holiness. "Follow peace with ALL MEN, and holiness, without which NO MAN shall see the Lord". We represent the Lord to the world. Holiness is a prerequisite for being before God, but that comes from the shed blood of Jesus on the cross that we have faith in. All our best efforts at righteousness combined are still a pile of filthy rags before God (Isa 64:6). "If my acceptance depended on my growth in grace I could never have settled peace. It would be egotism of the worst kind to consider myself so holy that I could be satisfactory to God on the ground of my personal experience." - H. A. Ironside I don't see the early or middle part of Hebrews 12 as eschatological, but is a reference to our daily walk and progressive sanctification. Only at the end of the chapter does the author of Hebrews make a general reference to the end times.

@@PutGodfirst129 We are called to do good.God is holy and we are holy IF we believed in Jesus and His work on the cross.So after we believed we become holy and now we have a mission to act like we are.We have a duty to act holy,we can do bad things but we will be punished for that.God is saying in that verse to act like we are ,understand? Why to do bad things and fleshly things if we are saved from lake of fire and cleansed from our sins? Simple as that. We have a holy status so we are called to do so,to act holy.

Ya I aim to get to that, just need time lol. In verse 16 notice that the thing that damns a person is unbelief, not a lack of baptism. Some see the "believe and baptised" part as baptism normally follows belief, but I think it's a reference to Spirit baptism that every believer gets at the point of faith. The Holy Spirit baptises every believer into the body of Christ the moment they believe, regardless of whether they are aware of that or not. "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit." 1 Cor 12:13

Our holiness is based in faith on what Jesus did on the cross, not our actions right?
@myflourishingfam
@myflourishingfam Ай бұрын
Our positional holiness is by the blood of Christ at the point of faith. That's what makes us positionally right in God's sight. Our daily walk (progressive sanctification in this life) is our effort to persue God's standard as we grow in Jesus. That effort is what the world sees, and how they will see God in us.

"If you're poor you're not pleasing God!" "God wants you dirty, filthy, stinking rich!" These are statements made by Andrew Wommack. I remember seeing an Andrew Wommack episode where he was talking about all the rewards he will be receiving in heaven and he said those that gave to his ministry will share (in part) in those rewards. It made me sick to my stomach.

I have a question, who are the ones that will live in earth in the millinium (sp) kingdom
@myflourishingfam
@myflourishingfam Ай бұрын
Believers on earth (tribulation saints) who survive at the end of the 7 years are brought into the Kingdom and will populate the earth during that time of the millenium. The rest who come back with Jesus have our glorified bodies then. Rev 2:26 says "And he that overcometh, AND keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:" Overcomers are believers (1 John 2:14, 4:4, 5:4-5, Rom 8:37). Those who believe AND keep God's works get authority over the nations as a reward. That seems to be co-ruling with Christ in the millenium. Also, those martyred will have the priviledge of reigning with Him. "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years." Rev 20:4

I don't understand what you're asking at all. The Bible is meant to be understood, and requires study (2 Tim 2:15, Prov 25:2) to understand some difficult passages. I'm explaining them the best I can. God put it there for us. All scripture is for our growth and edification (2 Tim 3:16).

Yes, I agree it was written to Hebrew Christian believers. They were Christian but severly pressured/tempted to go back to the Mosaic law and the sacrificial system by the persecution they were under. There are still things we can learn from it.
