If it removes reprojection and allows native 90 or 120 I’m all in. If it doesn’t, then the regular PS5 will stay for me Outside of the US like with all electronics it’ll probably be more like $900 with the drive. So $700 already sounds better! If I know GT7 and COTM, RE games will run native 90 or 120 and future PSVR2 games will benefit or be patched that’s enough for me. I want to get the most out of the PSVR2 performance right now and if that’s with a Pro for the next 4 years then it seems justified. You could also look at it a different way, selling an existing PS5 to upgrade to a Pro, then it’s more like $400 upgrade to get the best out of the PSVR2 on console. Yes I could put $900 to a PC and get access to a larger library of games but there is something to be said for just plugging in my PSVR2 into my PS5 and playing a game immediately without fiddling around with it for better performance or dealing with crashes. Not to forget games are optimised for the PS5. PC support is pretty good for it sure, but lacking full haptics, rumbles and real adaptive trigger support is also feeling rather empty on PC. We just need the PSVR2 library to keep getting fed and the best overall experience for PSVR2 is still going to be on console.

When the new AMD RDNA 4 GPUs come out. Then I'll complain about price. If those are cheaper than PS5 Pro that will be upsetting. GPUs alone for PC cost $800. Not including every else. This is the 1st console with Ai Upscaling Tech like Nvidia. Not FSR

I've been playing mostly modded Skyrim VR with the adapter on the PC side, wich is awesome! But damn i do miss the haptic feedback and headset vibration, this features alone for sure are worth the PS5 price, so much more imersive than just normal vibration that the PC have

I usually upgrade to a pro but this time Sony can get F***ed. $1,200 Aus no disk drive or stand. It wouldn't surprise me if the PS6 is $900 /$1000 Aus at launch. I think Sony have forgotten about the people who are struggling with the cost of living. Also Sony's presentation for PS5 pro was pathetic.👍 Without Parole.

I’d guess the main reason it’s so expensive is the projected sales. So like anything the more you can produce the cheaper it can be. Whatever the reason though I’ll not be touching it. We have no idea what games are even coming the rest of this gen.

Im one who bought psvr2 and ps5 outright because total value was less then PC. I normally never get 1st gen, i wait for pro. My previous was ps4 pro. I lost patience because of psvr2 and settled. I TOTALLY prefer Pro Versions. However, this version gives me no motivation to waste the doe. I can sell the ps5 tomorrow for the Pro, but its not far enough of ANY improvement to consider. It simply should have been skipped, as my eyes (for THAT price), is going PC. My motivations lie squarly on VR for my next purchase choices.

I only bought PS4 Pro (first Sony console since PS2) because it offered the possibility of 60fps as a norm. Once that was back on the table, I came back to consoles. PS5 Pro is insta for me, very excited about the possibility of 4k 60fps with ray tracing even.

Gamecats, Sony is basically seeing how the PS5 Pro does because they know they are heading into a market where people are buying gaming PCs. They aren't dumb. I think if this succeeds, then they have to evaluate the cost of a PS6 and what higher graphics it has to have to be considered a PS6.

At some point they said PSSR would be ported to PS5 but without hardware acceleration, but we’ll have see whether that holds. The thing that’s annoying is that generally PlayStation stays out of the way of AAA game publisher partners during the holiday months, so I don’t even think the State of Play or TGS will show first party new games.

Although I overall go along with the sentiment to wait for sales on software (or even hardware) I still buy before a sale or day 1 if I wanted to support the devs as I know that’s when they’ll make most of their money pending reviews of course. If everybody always waited for everything then I think that could be bad overall too, so, there is that. I’ll be supporting the flat2vr titles on release, etc.

1:15:26 does it actually work like this? Or does the AI upscaler need to be trained on the specific game. And there would only be a benefit if the game dev renders the game at a lower resolution and the ai upscaler then improves that back to the resolution of the headset and gives us more frames per second, e.g. native 120hz. With psvr2, they are probably at locked frame rates e.g. native 90 and render resolution, so I doubt we will see any benefit from the ps pro without some patch from the developers, especially if like the PS4 pro, it defaults to a "standard ps5" compatibility mode unless otherwise specified. If it's using a separate brand new hardware upscaler, which I at least got the impression it was, I don't know whether we would see current VR games addressing it without a patch. So few games were patched for PS4 pro, I really don't know if ps5 pro will be worth it for most people. I guess we just have to wait and see. Unfortunately creators with the rigour of digital foundry probably won't cover VR games for us to know. With the GPU only get a 45% uplift and presumably no real uplift on the CPU, I don't know if we will see much. Maybe 120 reprojected (60hz) to 90 native could be (not quite) possible with this 45% GPU uplift, provided the game is well within the CPU budget. Also with foveated rendering already in the pipeline idk whether the a.i. upscaler really has much to work with. Because it's only going to be hard rendering the foveated portion anyway. Again, wait and see, but I'm not expecting much, because, well they didn't promise anything! And I thought they hand waved AI upscaler support for VR to 'in the future' according to upload VR.

I suppose the sad fact is that if only a few VR Devs port their games to psvr2, and fewer make use of all the ps5 has to offer when they do port their game over, then an even smaller subset will probably spend time eeking out more fidelity or performance from a ps5 pro dev kit and patch to support sales they most likely already made. All for the few customers who support a device (the ps5 pro), seemingly priced to be a hard sell! One motivation to do so might be additional coverage their game could get in media, if they say it's getting a pro patch.

I don't have 1 ps5 but 2 at home + vr2. So far zero interest on pro. Can't justify the upgrade. For £700 I'd upgrade my pc to handle vr games and I'll have best of both platforms.

For the Pro it’s just not worth anything right now. The only true PS5 only first party games have been Returnal and Astrobot. When you look to the horizon of the PS5 and it’s first party studios, do we have any assurance that we’ll even see any more this generation. And for that reason it’s a non starter for me. Why pay for an upgrade for no special reason beside backwards compatible games that run just fine.
