I found a Wii Twilight Princess crash of my own a while back. If you go the river boat mini game and place a bomb next the lady who runs the game, and then start the game before the bomb goes off, your game should crash after a few moments in the mini game. The audio goes nuts and you can’t exit the game or do any inputs. I think I had to unplug my Wii U to fix it.

@@alexsnightmare I dunno really cause it handled the original Hyrule warriors fine and the second one didn't feel any more demanding but it just ran so much worse even in like menus but it would occasionally freeze on a loading screen or just getting overloaded in a level/cutscene and then if I didn't manage to close the emulator fast enough the whole laptop would just blue screen which was odd cause it had been ages since my last blue screen from anything. Like the laptop is getting old but the SSD everything is running from is pretty new and is a good quality Samsung one so it shouldn't be hardware failure since it runs other stuff fine too but it was crashing pretty regularly, like it auto saves hella often so it didn't matter that much but it was weird how bad it ran cause I pushed the original Hyrule warriors to 36 hours straight playtime twice in a row with the same setup without crashes and it felt like there were more enemies on screen at any given time besides maybe the divine beasts missions

Yet somehow it remains one of the longest zelda any% speedruns out of any zelda, and the longest 3D game by almost two hours. I imagine it like a tattered old rug hanging from a clothes line and a bunch of speedrunners trying to knock it down with swords. Each blow rends the fabric more and more but the rug just hangs there, because it doesn't matter how many holes you cut into it, it's still hanging out of reach and refusing to come down.

Cadence of Hyrule speedrunner here. Somewhat relevant to your video here, puzzle mode *does* require you bought the final DLC package. If you want to be able to crash the game without it, there are a few ways to do so. V1.0 did have a very funny crash, but somewhat time consuming. Once you get to Hyrule Castle, the last floor of the dungeon has wooden practice dummies of assorted NecroDancer enemies which can be knocked over, the largest of which - The NecroDancer - damages you if you're standing in front of it when its hit and falls over. By using a bomb (or enemy or other source of delayed damage) to knock it over at the same time you use Nayru's Love as Zelda, you set up an infinite loop where the dummy tries to damage you, has its damage reflected, triggering the fall animation again, and so on and so forth, resulting in a crash. This takes a while to reach, but v1.0 did also have a barrier skip technique to reach the dungeon immediately using, if im remembering correctly, the ice rod, cane of somaria, and hover boots, allowing early access to the dungeon. There's also a crash where if you attack a Fire Keese with a moving attack at max range to your left on a Glass Flail while the Fire Keese is burning, the game will *sometimes* crash. This always seemed random and i cant recall offhand if it ever got patched out or not. Probably a lot more I'm forgetting about - other people broke this game way harder on the glitch front than I ever did - but those are a few methods I know of!

not quite, the 3DS doesn't have the exact ARM7 chip from the GBA, I believe what it does is downgrade(?) its main CPU ARM11 chip to essentially act as the ARM 7 for native DS games (alongside the ARM9 they share) and on its own for GBA games.

@lpfan4491 - Yeah, my bad, I for some reason thought this was referring to the gba game, when in fact it was referring to the GBC game. @RAFMnBgaming - No, it IS true. It really has 3 CPUs: 1. Dual core ARM11 chip 2. ARM946E-S as a co-processor and main processor for DS. 3. ARM7TDMI, used as DS co-processor and main processor when running GBA games. (Even with GBA bios). That TFH crash was, unfortunately, somewhat well-known. I caught a few players trying to do it and had to totem them out of position (cue them mashing the "Nooo!" emote). There are a handful of soft-locks that work consistently as well. One is in the 3-2 (Hinox Mine) boss fight where you start the mine cart with one Link standing on the railing in the very bottom-left corner. The cart gets stuck in an infinite loop of starting/stopping and you can't even pause the game to exit. I would consider that a "crash", as opposed to the "can no longer proceed" variety of soft-luck, but I don't think it's any faster to reach than the Silver Shrine hammer crash.

ah, i can add to the animal crossing info! in the japanese version theres separate items for the famicom and disk system versions of zelda 1, but that rom doesnt exist in the files of the other versions (except maybe ique idk) so the game just crashes trying to load it if you hack the FDS version's item into your inventory at that point you're really only crashing animal crossing, but you're technically crashing it WITH a zelda game, even if the crash happens because said game isn't actually there... still pretty cool tho

36:55 cutest laugh EVER. Nice research, great video!
@lpfan449111 күн бұрын
2:22 For reference, this is actually NOT a crash, no exception is thrown and nothing technically gets stuck. What is happening is that due to a bug, the levelup and screen transition just happen to block each other in an infinite loop(Oops). If one pulls up a memory editor in an unofficial emulator, one can even just cancel the levelup and the game will proceed as planned. It really does not matter for our purposes because it is still "blank screen, plz reset", just wanted to share the trivia for anyone who cares. 27:31 Oh yeah, I forgot the HW games. Hyrule Warriors Legends has two crashes that can be accessed by version downgrading the game from a higher version to 1.0(Which yes, the 3DS just allows, unlike the WiiU or Switch). Both of them are related to making a character have no weapons in their weaponslist.
@HelpTheWretched9 күн бұрын
Yeah, that Zelda 2 "crash" is technically a soft-lock (which I had learned about several years ago, but forgot, so thanks!). I was just mentioning in my own comment, I'm fine with considering them to be crashes if you literally can't do anything afterward, as opposed to the "you can still move around but all progress is now impossible" type of soft-lock.

Also, you forgot one Zelda game! Namely, the 1989 Game and Watch game, Zelda. Along with the original Game and Watch, there is also a port of the original game in Game and Watch Gallery 4 on the GBA, and that game is on Wii U Virtual Console (although I doubt you can really crash a glorified calculator). Final thing, you may be able to crash the Majora's Mask Gamecube version by just taking load zones in Clock Town and using the Song of Time, this version is notoriously unstable and it may crash earlier randomly than the guarunteed crash with the Real Bombchu, as I don't think it requires you to become human again.

Amazing video! I think for Wind Waker HD you have a few more obscure options to crash the game without having to get the grappling hook. If you superswim to the forsaken fortress instead of going to dragon roost, you can force the game to make it night time early, then entering the forest of fairies on outset crashes the game, that would be quite a bit faster (you need to get the sword normally first though). There are a few other crashes with varying difficulty. If you can't do the manual superswim you can also crash by leaving outset casually, and on the pirate ship you can clip oob and void-out several times until you die to crash. But yeah, the item sliding crash is the easy solution to crash that game lol.

Been enjoying these videos from you, they're very fun! Think the only one I knew was the Wind Waker one, surprisingly.

Casual Spirit Tracks W I remember looking for speedruns of the game and learning about how unbreakable it is.

Absolutely love the video! I love this so much, but I can't tell if you completely forgot the two Zelda CD-i games Link: the faces of evil and Zelda: the wand of gamelon. Either I'm missing something or you just flat out forgot/didn't know. Either way loved the video!

Most broken thing I got in a Zelda game was with Hyrule Warriors for Switch; I realised that not quitting the game as I close the Switch eventually leads the terrain to be rendered in a desaligned way for sorts (The structures moving differently than the ground on the map, including in engine cutscenes like the victory cutscenes at the end of missions). The lesson here is to always quit the game before closing your Switch to avoid those desalignements.

I'm so glad I stumbled across your channel from this video, this is so cool! I need to find time to watch your other vids too! That part in the Target was pretty funny 😂 (I wish we had the Circle Pad Pro for the New N3DS Systems, the stubby little circle pad we got is HORRENDOUS)

Dude. This is insane! The dedication!!!!!!!! And my favorite gave series of all time too. Also the debug screen is wiiiiiiild. Lol. Gonna have to try it once I get the adaptor to play the Wii on a bigger TV!!!! You also say you dont have an N64, and I'm curious if there are glitches on there that are different. If you find one would you get it? Even if it needed minor repairs? Bcs I rlly love this type of content lol.

absolutely stellar video! I'm looking forward to trying some of these on the GameCube. I recently found a Collector's Edition disc (in-case, plus manuals!) and I've been wanting to mess around with the old emus. Thanks :DD

For the minish cap you could also jiggle the cartridge in the console if you have physical hardware

Me, a newer queer, wanting to ask what gender you are, because I couldn't tell (oh yeah one can never tell oops) but depending on your gender assigned at birth would want to say "you've done a great passing/gender", but then I find your pronouns: OH HAH Ok yes Great gender fam
