Used that tent in Ireland last year. It is a great size for one person and all their bike paraphernalia. Also great for moving around every day, so easy to put up and pack away. But... it was the coldest tent I have ever slept in!. It really needs zipped flaps over those big mesh panels in the inner.

Hi there, thanks for sharing your comment that this tent was cold, I’m thinking of getting one and was wondering what month did you use it in Ireland? And what sort of temperature did it drop to outside overnight ? Thanks so much if you can reply. 😉👍🏻

I had a Khyam tent like this back in the early 1990s for motorcycle camping - it was so easy to put up, just click a couple of polls into place, peg it out and job done. The tent was around £200 back then which was pretty expensive, but well worth it. The only negative was the weight of the tent, but apart from that it was great. It's good to see the concept is still around and now seems a decent price now too.

If you mean the Khyam Highlander, I still use one. I've also got a Khyam Biker Plus, a great tent. The Highlander is still one of the fastest small tents to put up, love it!

Seems there’s a few ultra fast setup tents about at the mo but the only benefit they have I can see over other tents is the time to set them up, they aren’t bigger or more spacious, or better in the wind. Personally I’d much sooner take something like the Vango Galaxy which is only about a kg more in weight but gives you way more room, you can stand up to get dressed etc and cook inside away from the British weather. Great video tho, interesting to see other peoples setups, thanks

I would not like to use that sleeping bag below 5°c the stats supplied by manufacturers usually out by anything up to 5°c forget the minus range its the comfort range that is important. Do love your logical method of packing the kit, well done!

loving these relaxing camping vids as always , hears a few things you might like ps i know you probably will be sick of me and my suggestions by now lol , but if you get a chance have a look at the thrunite ts1 survival light , its a brilliant multi use bit of kit , i use mine as a inner tent camping lantern but it was a total life saver at storming the castle where i had to pitch the tent in the pitch black where i used the magnetic tail and attached it onto the givi treker 42 top box and used it as a flood light , works brilliant and doing any repair work on the car or bike in the dark as a flood light is a life savor, and its a handy emergency power bank as well all in a very small package, very useful thing , i will take mine to every camping trip from now on , ive never been a fan of self inflating things as i find them very big bulk heavy and a pain in the bum to pack up but instead have a look at the inflatable but insulated equivalents such as the exped dura matt 9 with down insulation which is about a quarter of the size and weight of outwell matt and combining that with a exped inflatable pillow you end up with a set up with 9cm of matt instead of 5cm and down insulation instead of synthetic all in similar size and weight to the eurohike pillow alone , thats a massive saving in weight and size while increasing comfort , hope that all helps , but the thrunite ts1 is the best thing , im sure you will like it and find it very usefull

My wife an I have just started motocamping this year, but I really want to try going solo camping (no offence to the wife!) but the tent we have at the moment is too big to use on my own. I'm stuggling to decide between the Cub 2 and the Gobi 3. At 6'3" and 16 stone, I'm a big unit and have a big sleeping mattress (Thermarest Mondoking XXL) and I am wondering if the Cub mught actually be a bit on the small side for me. What do you think Nick, as you are a tall chap too (but slimmer than me!), would you have preferred a bit more space?

Are you people riding trikes or outfits that you think this is a good motorcycling tent, quick set up but like carrying a body in a rolled up carpet across my back seat, when the largest item on my bike is this tent something is wrong, by the way it weighs 4.5kg and with footprint and porch poles it's a whopping 6.5kg

I have the decathlon 2 second tent which is a similar concept, and price. It looks as though the decathlon is longer and narrower - at 6’1” I can lie straight with no problems. There’s plenty of space beside you for kit, but it is for one person really. It’s lacking in functionality and overall space compared to the slumit. There’s no vestibule or porch mechanism, which is a big advantage for the slumit. The decathlon looks marginally easier to erect.
@paulmcintyre4235
@paulmcintyre4235 Жыл бұрын
Bought one of these for this season. It won’t see another. It’s bulky, flimsy and I’ve set other tents up just as quickly. The porch is inadequate for anything but the smallest bits of gear. Probably ok for one night but I used it for a six day trip and found it awful. It dosent perform well in any wind even with the guy ropes wrapped around the poles. Mine ripped on the very first day. The material feels weak. I’d have some experience as I’ve been motorcycle camping for 20 years. It’s actually quite cramped for one person and gear and at 6 foot tall I had to lay in the tent diagonally. I wouldn’t recommend this tent at all.
