You won't believe it but my neighborhood outside of Nashville has a yearly free summer concert series... Can't remember the year but The Steeldrivers were one of the acts that performed. It's the only time I walked right up to the stage at the end and bought the CD that they were selling.... literally out of a box at the side of the stage.... They were AMAZING!!! I had no clue who they were but definitely left an impression.

I know a couple people who have been following him since his time early on in Steeldrivers and have even spent time with the guy and they have nothing but positives to say about him as well as his wife Morgane who is a breathtaking woman in her own right, beautiful voice to compliment Chris. To me, they are a power couple like Faith and Tim, Garth and Trisha, etc. I have never imagined I'd ever want a guitar only album but I could listen to Chris on guitar and Ren on guitar with no vocals and be happy!

"Either Way" or "Fire Away." Watch the video for Fire Away, though. Chris has created the video to bring awareness to mental health and the video 100% brings a visceral reaction that just leaves you feeling ... some type of way. I rarely use that expression because I like to dig into my feelings and truly identify how something has impacted me, but it's very appropriate here.

Listening to his concert from Biloxi, he said that this song was his first release on the radio, and he was so disappointed that it only went up to 46 on the charts. And it was the same month he lost his dad (listen to Daddy Doesn't Pray Anymore, which he wrote in 10 minutes). His wife suggested a trip, and he wrote Traveler while she was sleeping while he drove, and won a Grammy for it. Then his appearance on the 2015 CMA's with Justin Timberlake, which he put together because JT wanted to work with him and he was trying to figure out something for them to do together, so when he got called to fill-in at the awards for someone who couldn't make it, Chris called him up and suggested that they do it together, which resulted in the Tennessee Whiskey/Drink You Away collaboration which blew everyone away and, along with the awards he won that night, shot Chris off on this current trajectory! Hard won and well deserved.

This was the first Stapleton song I heard and still my favorite- just don't ever listen to the studio cut after hearing this superior version. Oh - and check out Cold or Watch You Burn off of his new disc.

He’s written all the songs you’ve reviewed that I’ve listen to so far. He’s also written hundreds of songs and recorded by other artists.

You pose an easy and hard question at the same the time...what should you listen to next... If you want hauntingly beautiful vocals:some times I cry. If you want a great groove, big voice and Chris showing more of his guitar skills: I was wrong A young nerdy Chris: fool me again. Chris' had a fling with a rock band called "the jompson brothers" Angry Chris: watch you burn. Smooth Chris: you should probably leave. A song where the vocals far far outway the quality of the video: barely alive (live version) Chris doing another masterful cover: whipping post (originally Allman brothers) You won't be disappointed, he is a genius imo. Thanks for another masterful reaction.

Chris has been a songwriter for Grammy winning country artists for a long time before he put out his first solo album. Dude knows how to pen a tune.

I love the way he usually says thank you after the song. NO, thank you Chris! Humble and real to the max.
