She died last Sunday (24th of July 2022) at the age of about 90. إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون May her soul rest in peace. She will always be remembered as a brave lady with strong nerves and great memory. With her we have lost an entire encyclopedia that we used to refer to whenever we needed to know more about the elders of the family.

This is my father's dialect - Potohari/Pahari/Putwaari. It is spoken across the Rawalpindi district and also in the southern parts of Azad Kashmir (up to Muzaffarabad). In the last census of united Punjab (1941) Rawalpindi district was 20% Hindu and Sikh. I once met a Hindu whose mother tongue was Potohari. Sadly that generation will have passed away by now (well almost all of them).
@umairumairii62863 жыл бұрын
Pothwari is not language. It's dialect of Punjabi. I am from Mirpur. We don't speak Pindi type Pothwari Punjabi.
@talwaar0073 жыл бұрын
@@umairumairii6286 I literally called it a dialect? And the Potohari spoken in Mirpur is essentially the same as that in Rawalpindi. Otherwise you might as well subdivide Potohari into a hundred different subtypes, with each village speaking it’s own version.

This is the pothohari/Kashmiri/Pahari dialect of Punjabi. Districts Jhelum, Chakwal and pindi had a high concentration of Hindus and Sikhs. As the name of the villages suggest... choa khalsa, thoa khalsa etc. 2 former Prime ministers of India (IK Gujral, Dr Singh) were from District Jhelum, Gulzar poet, Sunil Dutt, Jaswant Singh Neki and many many more. Krishna Sobati was also from a nearby village in District Gujrat Called Jalalpur Sobtian.. hence her name sobati... P.S. I saw a few years ago, there's still a Gurdwara standing in Ali Baig Gujran Bhimber AK. Despite 75 years of neglect it's still standing. It was probably constructed long before.

All Hindu and Sikh people of Rawalpindi, gujjarkhan, chakwal, jhelum, Lahore, gujraat, Gujranwala sialkot, layalpur of Pakistani Punjab are presently scattered all over Northern India mainly in Eastern Punjab and haryana. Thereafter in sriganganagar and alwar of rajasthan. In main cities of Utter Pradesh and madhya Pradesh. Union Territory of Chandigarh. In Pakistan mostly they were farmers and Land lords and in Army, police Khatri people were also landlords and businessmen. But in India majority of them are not owner of agricultural land as in India they could get only 10 percent of their total agricultural land left by them in Pakistani Punjab. Khatri people are presently very rich in India and maximum of them are industrialist and big business men and rich shopkeepers. Their young generation is on highest position in multinational companies. Mohiyal Brahmins and khatris both have gained their status same as they were in Pakistani Punjab before 1947. But one major thing they lost their Pothohar culture and sabhyata can't be regained. Those who are above 40th of their age speak Pothohari Punjabi but new generation can't speak Pothohari Punjabi but speak in Indian Punjabi or Hindi. Respect to elders and love to my younger brothers and sisters of all the Pakistani Pothohari Punjabi

Lodhi are not from Kashmir or Punjab they initially migrated from Afghanistan. Lady in this Video is my maternal aunt. It’s known in our family that our ancestor was Ahmed Khan Lodhi, brother of Ibrahim Khan Lodhi. Both brothers died at Panipat in 1525 or 1526 fighting against Zaheer ud din Babur. Three sons of Ahmed Khan Lodhi fled northwards trying to save their lives and of their families from Mughal Armies. One settled at “Sehotha” a village near old Mirpur. Two crossed River Jhelum at Dhan Gali. Second Settled at “Matore “ a village near “Kahuta”. Third brother along with his family moved into Hazara area presently called “Manshera”. Some Descendants of these three brothers are still living in said areas. This is a family story. I do not have concrete historical evidence except that it’s a known fact that Lodhis have lived here for centuries.
