I met her this weekend in Athens at the Bouzoukia, where she was performing, and her voice was absolutely captivating- we all got goosebumps! Later, she came into the audience, and I had the chance to briefly speak with her and wish her good luck. I told her that I hope she gets chosen, and she was genuinely the sweetest person you can imagine. I also took a picture with her! I really hope it’s going to be her. The song "Asteromata" by Klavdia, when viewed through the lens of the Asia Minor Catastrophe (1922), takes on a much deeper and more emotional meaning. Symbolism and Connection to the Asia Minor Catastrophe "Mother, don’t cry for me" → This phrase evokes the painful separation of families during the refugee crisis. Thousands of people were violently forced to abandon their homes, leaving behind loved ones and belongings. Mothers mourned their children, whether because they were lost or sent alone to Greece. The "Asteromata" mother → She could symbolize the motherland, Asia Minor, mourning her lost children. Alternatively, she could represent the countless mothers who had to part from their children during the catastrophe. "A ship will come to find me" → The refugees of the Asia Minor Catastrophe fled by sea. The ship here may symbolize salvation or even the hope of returning to their homeland- a hope that never materialized for most of them. "The wind will become a sail" → The wind could symbolize fate, which swept the Greeks of Asia Minor into a new, unknown life filled with hardships. However, it also signifies their resilience and determination to move forward despite their displacement. Nostalgia & the pain of uprooting → The song carries a melancholic, nostalgic tone, reflecting the longing of refugees to see their homeland again- a dream that remained unfulfilled for most. Conclusion The song "Asteromata" can be interpreted as a tribute to the memory of the refugees of the Asia Minor Catastrophe. Through deeply emotional lyrics, it speaks about the pain of displacement, loss, and the enduring hope that never fades. If this interpretation holds true, then Klavdia, with her song, is not only representing Greece in Eurovision 2025 but also honoring a significant part of history that should never be forgotten.

She spoke how this song is a homage to people being displaced. She was on a Greek morning TV show and described her ancestors being refugees (Pontic Greeks, from the former Soviet Union), and how that drew inspiration for this song. Klavdia also spoke of how people are displaced from other countries and coming to Greece as refugees and the contemporary relevance of that reality. I think this song will resonate.

No mater which of the 12 songs we will choose, this is not the year for Greece to aim to be at the top. It's more "showcasing" as you mentioned. If we will choose Klavdia, there might be a small chance to make a difference like Portugal's "Amar pelos dois", which did not put any effort on staging but got everyone's attention. Klavdia enchanted me with her song, I hope that it will be chosen and as I see, many foreigners are amazed, too.

It is a lamentation of a person leaving home to migrate to a far away land, saying last farewell to his mother and loved one. It has greek ethnic vibes, modern elements, great vocals.

My translation of the lyrics Oh, my sweet star! Do not weep for me, my sweet mother, Even if they make you wear black, My fading body, is invincible by flames. Even if they cross oceans ablaze, the soil that bore them, the swallows never forget! Oh, my little star-eyed girl, Bow down so I can kiss you, So I might quench my thirsty lips with your hallowed tears! Oh, my little star-eyed girl, bow close so I can touch you, And my forgotten wings can rest one last time. Oh, my star, my precious jewel! My sweet mother, don't weep for me, My life is like a ship, Whose sail is seeking for a homebound wind. Oh, my little star-eyed girl, bow close so I can touch you, So that my forgotten wings can rest one last time. Oh, my star, my precious jewel!

Claudia has known her story since she was a child. the history of her ancestors! and this accompanies her to this As for today, Claudia bravely took all the risk on herself and came to lift us up with this song. Claudia came to resurrect our moral memory. This is the most important reason we are grateful to her.

Well personally i don't care that much about the position it lands on (even though i have to admit that my heart breaks a little bit when a song that speaks to my soul doesn't do well in the contest) but nevertheless i want to see entries that i can tell the country that they come from. That's in general what i come to eurovision for. Diversity and cultural distinction. This songs touches me so much and all i want is to represent us and have the right support to do so(fingers crossed 🤞)This songs deserves that because this is art.
@loukas_gr13 күн бұрын
The song is somehow a dialogue between a mother (could be the homeland) and her star-eyed daughter who had to flee, the bonding between them that goes through all the hardships... It could be a mourning of departing and a lullaby of longing to be back. Traditional, still modern... simple, still poetic and deep. I believe that it is closer to the greek soul than a football anthem intended to dance at a beach bar of Mykonos 😆 I love the quality in it, even though it could not deliver a high score at the ESC. Thank God, at least there will be a live performance on TV, where the dynamics of each song will be delivered on stage and that would make the selection probably easier.
@loukas_gr13 күн бұрын
BTW, Klavdia was nominated to represent Greece again in 2022 with the song 'Holy Water' (with the same composers, dealing again with migration), but Victor Vernicos was selected as known. Maybe it makes sense why Deban thought that Asteromàta could be a part of an EP. 😊

First of all, this is leagues better than Oniro Mou, also to people saying “Cyprus 2022” didn’t qualify, she did with the public, it was the jury that flunk it, and that’s not a problem anymore. This is on the scale of Grito from last year and that finished top 10!

"The World is Greece expanding" (Victor Hugo) This is how "jewels" and "jevaeria" like "Asteromata" (= Star- Eyed) are born, taken from the "tsieria" of the Greek psyche and destined to adorn the soul of the entire world. The "little asteromata" from Aspropyrgos, with the "Mouschouristic" glasses (which make her even more "asteromata"), the oriental "rhizomes" (in Pontus and Russia) and the Hellenized "Roman" name (Klavdia), will travel like a "swallow of fire" (see related myths) to the West ("foreignness") to share with her archaic crystalline voice, the timeless and universal pain of foreignness and separation in a sacred, mystical, both joy and sorrow way. The lyrics of "Arcade", "in the language that was given to us, Greek, on the sandy beaches of Homer", touch with their powerful images, repeated metaphors, verbal contrasts and all kinds of extensions, the most sensitive strings of human existence. In the dramatic responses of mother and daughter, with all our senses tense, we are introduced to the timeless drama of the separation of loved ones (mother and daughter), but also to the power of their love (the music beats seem like strong beats of a beating heart) that manages to tame the entire world, fire, air, earth and sea. With a song like this, you don't go ("emigrate") to win a Eurovision. You go so that Eurovision can win something!!! Have a good trip and a safe return "My little Asteromata" "wind in your sails"!

I firstly wanna thank you for all your effort and maybe, the study you're gonna put in this song and why it's written and sang! It has to do with the extinction and genocide and their rememberance of Greek Christians from their Motherland, Asia Minor, modern day Turkey, where they lived for more than 3.000 years. Asia Minor is the Mother, while Greek people, from babies to elderly whipped out of the face of the earth are its Sons and Daughters lost! Sending all the love and care from Greece to you
