I remember watching this show years ago and the traps would sometimes have hundreds and hundreds of crab. Maybe different species

Yeah those are King Crab, Opilio crab (AKA snow crab) are the ones I believe that they could have 300-400 in a pot and are smaller.

In the Sig Hansen segments, the clip of the first pot of both the first and second string is exactly the same. Identical footage at 3:51 and 7:26. They didn't even change the audio.

Google/Deadliest Catch wiki says it was a newly converted Norwegian crab boat going into open ocean for the first time (most Norwegians crabbers fished in the fjords). Sig was there as an advisor/de facto trainer
