Even in the first game Water is more utility focused with more about cooldowns for impactful spells.

Only thing this game wanted me to do is to play the old game. Its so much more polished and the vision is so much clearer. Wizard of legends dident need a totaly new game, it needs an overhaul of the old game. Maybe alitlebit more story driven and abit more interaction between spells and ofc some new spells, maybe have hybrid spells inbetween all spells, or have spell combos to make the arcanas scyrocket in diversity. This new WoL2 have youst watered down the choices, the level design aint close to the first game almost everything feels cheap and copied but with a new skin. Im pretty sure the majority of the fans enjoyed the game thanks to being a very fluid pixel art game one of the best out there actualy. Still one pf my top picks, its sad they dident keep building on the existing game. Hope they make a good game out of it, combat feels ok at best.
