I couldn't resist at the low price point and got the first one. I must say I'm enjoying it a lot. Most of what Das explains in this vid goes for the first one too. The tooltip/help system makes this super playable/accessible. Give me this over lengthy tutorials any day. I bought it basically to get used to how these types of games work, and for that it seems golden. Eyeballing Conquest of Elysium and maybe Dominions for some point in the future when I'm trained up for some more complexity.

This game will be better than civ 7, I'm not joking either

Most magic paths the tier 1 mage would easily defeat some scouts. Especially the ones that can do combat summons. Holy is the exception because their mages are healers/buffers.

Fanatics are great chaff if that is your goal with them but early game they are also very cheap attack density. Put them all off the sides so your much tankier swordsmen can go up front (more efficient use of your healing). The fanatics will come in from the flanks then and take a lot less damage. After upgrading units they are complete garbage and you'll want to put them front and center to die off so you can use their upkeep somewhere else. This all is a lot better if you send some mages along and get the low hanging fruit in enchantment. Holy has some really good buffs so you can set your mages to prioritize buffing while the healer units do the healing. Rushing down conjuration isn't as good at you think. Upkeeps go up a lot and are tuned assuming rather high tier cities with lots of income. All those buildings that give income per population have higher tiers that give even more. Makes supporting a Paladin, which has at least 5 mana upkeep (I'd need to double check), much easier. Evocation and Enchantment will get you more power that doesn't have an upkeep.

Interesting, might buy this one today. Would be nice if you had a Steam referral link so you could get a couple cents out of recommending it! 😅

No link to the game ? With Dominions, it's not about complexity, there';s not much to it really, my issue is that it's highly multiplayer-focused and utterly worthless in single player.

The original Wizard Warfare is an excellent strategy game. Solo experience was good. Low price point, too

Dominions worthless in single player? I bet you can beat the highest difficulty AI then, I am always amused at these statements.

@@adhabens Dominions is indeed vastly superior as a multiplayer game though? And artificialy making the AI stronger doesn't help in the enjoyment. Weird take. edit: calling it worthless is also a weird take though

Dominions is definitely not worthless in single player, it’s a very deep game, I guess it depends what you want out of it tho. It is more multiplayer focused tho, I love the game, I’ve never played it multiplayer and probably never will.

@@bosshogg3279 compared to multiplayer, the single player IS pretty worthless though in my experience. Mostly because the multiplayer is more tactical than the mish-mash of units zerging at you that the AI does in my experience. There's nothing quite like having your sense of superiority utterly crushed by one turn of mass-assassinations by stealthing undead knights armed with just burning sword and vined shield, mind-hunt cadre strategically sniping your generals leaving your army making horrible engagement as half the units either rout or never make it to the battlefield due to lack of leaders... Or having your "invincible" communion annihilated by a single titan/elemental king dropping earthquake on you then leaving the battle unharmed. I think I've won one multiplayer between Dominions 3-5 combined (flying sacred griffon-riding knigts that turned into zero upkeep sacred griffins when killed were pretty OP after all), but it's always good fun, if a bit time-consuming.
