Yeah. Game development isn't cheap. MMOs as a whole continue to have smaller and smaller communities, and costs of game development continue to go up. Wages increase, time required increases, and inflow of cash decreases. Like it or not, the Crowns Shop is what funds your game not dying. It's like RS3 or FFXIV. Memberships alone are just not enough to fund a game.

The hatchery went crazy with randoms all giving a newbie TC to sell when he said, "I need to buy gold". The prices for gold are so obnoxious we feel protective of new players and will go out of our way to prevent the purchase. Gold should be available for crowns but as a genuine micro-transaction, eg 10:1000 crowns/gold.

The best way to change crowns-gold exchange is to make it more reasonable price. We all aware that gold is really easy to get and literally took less than an hour to max, but I still think if they make you pay 1k crowns or somewhere around that for max gold will attract players to buy them.

So recently I got back into Wiz cause I played it as a kid and I couldn’t ever go pass triton Ave cause my dad wouldn’t let me buy memberships. And I think it might’ve been before the update but transformations use to cost 300 gold. SOOOOOOO recently I wanted to just transform for no reason... 300 gold is now 75 crowns for an hour transformation that does nothing other than ANIMATIONS. That’s all. No damage buffs or shields or anything like that. Just a simple cosmetic look.

However, before you hang up that wiz hat, they ARE in the middle of a sale and the secondary payment is directly linked to profits. They're in the hard push for profit right now but that could calm back down once that deadline passes...we'll see!

KingsIsle doesn't understand how to price anything and the basics of business, hence why Pirate101 is dead and Wizard101 has been on its last leg for years now. Nobody wants to buy wildly overpriced items from a company that barely produces any content or fixes the issues in the game, and then even when they "do," it's half-assed. Not to mention how jaded they make everyone when they try and market their game as "kid and family-friendly," then do literally nothing but use predatory practices to have kids spend stupid amounts of money on worthless garbage or to speed-up bad, time-consuming parts of the game (like leveling pets and gardening). If KingsIsle actually cared about making their game popular and having people want to play it, then they'd actually fix PvP by listening to those who play it instead of just doing whatever they want when it makes no sense, they'd actually try and making compelling worlds again like they did with the first arc of the game, they'd decrease their prices on everything between 50 and 90%, they'd stop with the predatory practices, they'd stop with the unjust bannings. Basically they'd stop being what they've been for the past decade. But they obviously don't care, which is why when I heard the company was bought by someone else who at least seems like they want to stop dicking around, I was nothing but ecstatic.

One of the main things that drove me away from the game was how jacked up the prices are for these microtransactions. Like,,,, god, they're too expensive and exclusive. Those hoard packs are also very predatory to newer and or inexperienced (regardless of age) players bc they're Gambling Packs. The gold-crown purchase options are also ....cheeky stupid ways to lure in players who don't know any better. Then, off topic, but the pricing of new areas felt like it was just wayyy too much for such little action. If anything, these area pricings makes the membership feel like a better deal which is probably intentional bc then you feel pressured to use this membership + play more of the game at the risk of spending more money on this "premium" stuff.

To address the gold and crowns conversion thing, I think a conversion rate or 100 gold = 1 crown (non-transferable & not usable for gifts) would be fair. I say not transferable and not for gifts cause otherwise this conversion would get ruined by neckbeards who will grind on 20 different wizards for gold to get crowns.

The only bundles I personally find worth it are the Wyvern ones, because they are generally fairly cheap and if you want a specific mount, you could spend 10k, 20k+ to get it from the pack.

Kingsile is doing the same thing Wal Mart did with trading cards, more specifically Yu-Gi-Oh. They took all the crap that doesn’t sell anymore and instead of throwing it out and accepting their loss they pile all of it into a box/bundle and advertise it as a new product even though it’s the same crap you don’t want.

It bummed me out to see the crown shop after it received its first big overhaul. Although I never had the money to buy them as a kid, and I wouldn't buy most of them now, some of the outfits, mounts, and pets were pretty cool and nostalgic to always see there unchanged over the years; it was the only place to get them. I don't know what I expect from this game when it's managed to survive this long, but the recent changes have generally felt, unnecessary.

Rental mounts should be gold only. It can be nice to try out new mounts and may even tempt you to buy the perm, but crowns for a temp mount defeats the point. 1500-3000c for a one week 'test drive' is excessive imo.

Imagine if they had pack items available individually too, or if unwanted crown items could be sold back for a crown value (perhaps even a third currency like crown gems in ESO). Opening packs on ESO guarantees you will get the things you want even if you're 'unlucky'. There are only a few aesthetic mounts that are pack only and extremely rare.

The only reason right now I would absolutely not play this game is because of the swindling/greedy mentality of kingsisle with the crowns and gear items. I cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a practically pay to win (pay to be good) game when I have a real life to take care of. I was just about to fix my pc and return to the game paying and everything but seeing as though they haven't changed with their demands on money turned me completely off. Until they fix this, it's a absolute no for me. Increase the good rare drop rates on packs (at least 20%) and lower the prices on crown items

A couple weeks ago, I would have argued against this, but I gave pirate a try and it is an amazing game mechanics wise! I’ve got all max wiz except balance but I’ve never had as much fun in wiz as I had when I played pirate. It’s got a lot of small issues that need to be touched up but it a a great game and I recommended y’all try it.
