I was a volunteer for some of the FIRST events in Maryland. I remember these kids. Overall, they were super supportive of one another. Good luck, guys!

Pretty cool robot! quick note: you can avoid the bending in issues by putting standoffs on the inside of the channels to add support.
@WizardsexeFTC97946 жыл бұрын
Yes we would recommend doing that, but it wasn't just the channel that was bending it was that the xrail joint was also getting lose and the channel was twisting.

I am glad you moved on from the free fall idea. I hope to brainstorm with our teams soon!
@WizardsexeFTC97946 жыл бұрын
The free fall idea is not a bad idea, it just requires bracing the chassis. It's much easier than creating a fully functional linear slide mechanism, especially for rookie teams. It's also a lot faster. While we may not use it in competition, it's not a bad idea.

I brought up the freefall idea day one but my team did not like that idea glad to see someone using that!
@RatLabGuy6 жыл бұрын
I agree it is good for rookie teams, but it also leaves you with now pathway to lifting back up later. Our rookies came up wit ha simple and easily implemented idea with a hinged arm, a spring to push it up, and a remote motor pulling it down like a winch...

our first challenge is in six days and we have so much to do! Hopefully we're ready in time. Awesome video btw! this is a very well made bot!

Thank you! This video was made to help teams that might run out of time or that don't have the resources of other teams. It's a successful robot and with a little bit of tuning, it could win some competitions.

Hi, we are a rookie team and we really appreciate you making this video. It helps a lot.

Thank you for your kind comments. If you have any other suggestions about videos your team would use, let us know and we would be more than happy to try to make some.

great video! your ideas are amazing! are you sure using the phone is legal? I thought its just a connection to the robot... manual 2 does not say anything about usage of the phone but have you read manual 1?
@WizardsexeFTC97946 жыл бұрын
The video we are using is a Nexus 5 which is legal according to game manual part 1. Game manual part 1 also states it's legal to import your own libraries

From the 2017-18 Using Vuforia Vumarks "The 2017-2018 FIRST Tech Challenge game includes special vision targets that contain secret clues that can be used to score extra points during the autonomous portion of a match. These special vision targets are known as VuMarks. The VuMarks use PTC’s Vuforia computer vision technology to encode hidden information within each picture. This information isn’t easily noticeable to the casual human observer. However, the FIRST Tech Challenge software for the 2017-2018 season includes special functions that let a robot read the VuMarks using the Robot Controller’s built-in camera. www.firstinspires.org/sites/default/files/uploads/resource_library/ftc/using-vumarks.pdf

Which linear slide is that that you use for lifting? Is it a kit? Some of the kits apparently have been banned this year making choices difficult for a new team to know what is legal and what isn't.
@WizardsexeFTC97946 жыл бұрын
This is the actobotics cascading X-Rail kit.

The snow glows white on the mountain tonight Not a footprint to be seen A kingdom of isolation And it looks like I'm the queen The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I've tried Don't let them in, don't let them see Be the good girl you always have to be Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know Well, now they know Let it go, let it go Can't hold it back anymore Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door I don't care what they're going to say Let the storm rage on The cold never bothered me anyway Let it go, let it go Can't hold it back anymore Let it go, let it go Turn away and slam the door Let it go (go, go, go go, go go, go go, go, go, go go) Let it go Let it go Let it go It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all It's time to see what I can do To test the limits and break through No right, no wrong, no rules for me I'm free Let it go, let it go I am one with the wind and sky Let it go, let it go You'll never see me cry Here I stand and here I stay Let the storm rage on My power flurries through the air into the ground My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals all around And one thought crystallizes like an icy blast I'm never going back, the past is in the past Let it go The cold never bothered me anyway Let it go, let it go And I'll rise like the break of dawn Let it go, let it go That perfect girl is gone Here I stand in the light of day Let the storm rage on
