1995 Silverton on the Tennessee River. Full coverage is $1200 a year. Was $1500 but I insured the dinghy. Got a multiple boat discount. Yes, I have an inflatable dinghy with $300K liability.

35k 1972 Grand Banks 36 woodie, 500k liability, 50.00 per year with underinsured boater coverage in case someone plows into you is 80.00 a year in the PNW, 130.00 total per year. Florida, Bahamas, carribean, all vacation boating, way too much money down there, let alone dealing with the freaking heat., lol. Thanks again for another informative vid capt,

Why pay full coverage on a 40 year old boat that is paid off? Especially in Florida where the Sun and salt tear it up. Full coverage is ok if you have plenty of cash to burn.

But if you pay even just $40k cash and a storm blows on the hard and totals it the next day, wouldn't you want to get a pay out? All insurance is simply gambling anyway.

1996 Bayliner 3988 on the Ohio River insurance cost is $3,000 yr with 150k replacement value and 500k liability

Informative video at the right time for me. So there is no real difference in cost for a 20 or 40 year old boat? I was thinking a $250,000 budget to purchase and prep the boat.If I have liability only, can I stay in FL. It is noticeable how empty St Augustine gets in the summer except for the charter boats. I am trying to figure just how much I should spend on the boat itself. Thanks for the video!

I have a 1980 Pearson 40 and 1967 Bristol 27 both are covered together with Progressive. P40 is worth 40k and Bristol 8k ony have liability. All my boats have been covered Progressive and I’ve owned 3 liveaboard style boats.

Nice share! btw, can you use a land/home address from a state that doesn't have ocean front such as Vermont and get full boat insurance coverage for a trawler that would do most of its boating from Cape Cod to Nova Scotia? Thanks!

Our initial motivation is for our own personal safety. However, based on your experience, can we get full-coverage boat insurance in advance of getting our 100-ton Captain's license?
