Sheryl Swoopes was also an NCAA champion in 1993 and the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. She scored 47 points in the Championship game, which her Texas Tech Red Raiders won by a score of 84-82 against the Ohio State University Buckeyes. She was First Team All-America in 1992 and 1993 when she was the 1993 Naismith College Player of the Year.

I watched her amazing professional career after she moved on to the WNBA. I also watched and followed the amazing career of Katie Smith, who was a sensational freshman on the Ohio State team that Sheryl Swoopes defeated for the 1993 title. Katie Smith went on to become an all-time great college, Olympic, and professional women's basketball player herself. I didn't need CC and AR to get me to watch the WNBA. I appreciate them. I respect them. But the women's professional basketball world doesn't revolve around either or both of them for me. Neither one of them nor both of them have to be mentioned in interviews with other players who have past or present affiliations with the WNBA. It's okay to celebrate Sheryl Swoopes and her unparalleled college, Olympic, and WNBA greatness as a pioneer, ledgend, foundation builder, role model, winner, and champion without mentioning CC and / or AR.

@timetraveler434 absolutely no doubt Sheryl is a legendary and excellent player of the game. A pioneer for the generations to come in every aspect. I would never deny her impact because it's real and she worked for that. What I'm pointing out is that there's absolutely no doubt the views for the W have increased astronomically this past year BECAUSE of this rookie class. Sheryl Swoopes being the legend she is and the older example for young girls wanting to play the sport, should want to talk about that and point out these girls doing the thing this year. Yes what she accomplished is amazing 100% but you're on national TV promoting not just yourself but the W as a whole. Give the flowers to these players growing the game is all I'm saying, why be so dismissive about it? Yes like yourself and others, the W had fans following players like Swoopes before this year. But for myself and many others we paid no attention to the WNBA for a lack of basketball stars that had something generational and special like the NBA does (Jordan, James, Bryant etc.) Yes there's going to be drama with fame. Comes with the territory. But I think she should embrace these stars still and promote them to help grow the W to greater heights. I understand your argument and that you're tired of hearing about these girls but if they don't get talked about, what are we watching this game for if its not to see them shine?

And what's funny yet sad to me is that when CC was on SNL, a very highly nationally viewed show, she gave respect and flowers to these amazing pioneers, Swoopes included because she wouldn't be there without them. And to me, for her to go on these podcasts and these tv shows and not only not show love to these girls, but when asked directly about them , tries to downplay their success. That ain't right to me :/

Oldest daughter was only 17 when she discovered a lump in one of her breast. It was removed, tested, benign. Thank the Lord 💪🏾🙌🏾 Side note: female doctor explained why she cut where she did so when my daughter healed it wouldn't cause any issues. My daughter is now 30!
