I think what really made this house iconic wasn't just that the movie itself happened in it ( there are many movies in which that happens and the houses are forgettable ), not just because Kevin used its rooms as death traps lol but in my opinion it was because it really transpired the family vibe right off the bat. The introductory scenes with people running around, the big dinners, uncles, cousins and brothers being obnoxious... We all experienced that in our own way, most especially during Christmas time. Kevin wanted to protect all of that when he waged war against those bandits, it wasn't just about the house itself but what it represented for him.

@ShanesAutos4 жыл бұрын
Most likely. I’m sure they were limited with the things they could do in the real house.
@bellthandian4 жыл бұрын
Yes they did. Only exterior shots were used for the film, though they did mimic the inside layout of the house. As far as decor goes, a lot was done more over the top than the real interiors, as they chose to use a color palette of greens and reds to fit in with the overall Christmas vibe. From the last listing when the house was for sale, you can see that the layout was almost 100% the same minus a few details. I believe the entire house set was all built in a gymnasium from a behind the scenes clip I saw a few years back about the making of. Would’ve risked too much damage to the real house had they used the interiors for many of the shenanigans in the movie

(she was in her late 40s) can come eat with the cast and crew when we call for lunch. instead, we gave them a plate and then told them all to fuck off when it was time for us to eat, cuz we were done filming anyway that felt SO good lol this was my longgggasss story time with the answer to your question hidden somewhere in there :D

They never even filmed inside the house. That build a replica of it inside a school gym.

I was about to go look that up, thank you. I figured they would only do the outdoor shots here.

Very nice! I love this movie and I watch it every year at Christmas time. I've probably watched it 100 times. This is a true classical movie and forever will be.

Not to sound ungrateful, but did the owners of this footage explain why they waited so long to share it?

they probably just had no idea how or felt like they didnt have a reason to up until the news crew came by and asked the neighbors questions about the house which was likely the original piece they were gonna shoot until they got the JUICEEEE. ok that was lame of me sorry

So the people who brought the house had no interest in its story and has no interest in the fans, but they undoubtedly paid well over the market value for the house because it's such a famous house so I don't know if I'm missing something..

Exactly!! People are saying it’s their house, their privacy, etc. But seriously? Obviously they paid more for this house knowing it was in a famous movie. And they don’t want a bunch of people looking at it?? Maybe should have thought of it before buying a famous house?

Maybe they're big fans themselves and it was their dream to live there but they don't want to have to answer to people coming every single day.
