This closes the gap I found regarding the founding fathers. Europe was full of monarchies, there were no operating democracies to draw inspiration from. Democracy in Greece and Rome had disappeared long ago and could only be studied in books. The founding fathers had a front row seat to a working democracy that had been around for ages. I think it's a hoot that a women based society with native people had constructed a more complex form of government then what was operating in Europe at the time. It is a shame that as an American, we are not taught this crucial piece of history about the beginnings of our country and its institutions. The truth is so much more interesting then the dry stories we have been fed.

I’m here to learn more as my ancestry dna has now included these indigenous people. Newly added to my Andean, Inuit and the tribes I already knew in the south east of North America. Thank you for the in-depth intro.

my ancestors were doing this long before we came into contact with you all. We also lived in long houses long before we came over here.

That’s pretty ignorant, this History is not in competition with any other culture, but democracy is not found in the world and “America” has its own unique environment for building and Native Americans were some of the last Tribal cultures to come into contact with anyone in the rest of the world

also study women in Celtic culture they had way more veneration than wants to be attested to by the “woman’s” movement. Celts Gauls Vikings all had women in prominent. Check out Welsh. The founders of this country borrowed on long standing traditions of their own. They also lived in long houses and made palisaded forts…..hint, hint….
