If they fix some underlying issues (lock-on staying on defeated opponents, too much hyperarmor on coop partner revival) then it's easily among the best souls like pvp experiences. The fact you get rewarded with high quality gear and accolades is just a cherry on top. It's funny how Team Ninja just did an invasion system that scales up and down while Fromsoft only limits it to passworded summons.

I disagree entirely personally this pvp is kinda like niohs pvp with just sekiros parry mechanic which is hot garbage cause niohs pvp is by far the worse pvp I've ever seen... so since wo long is basically copy and pasted nioh it's fuckn terrible.....oro (and probably u) just has bad taste in pvp he just likes to run in and spam R1 instead of playing strategically with skill. (Like ds2 and bb pvp which is the best) 😆

I found out if you block with your weapon your holding and switch to your other weapon you still hold the block and the switch is instant. could be good if you switch to the dual sabers with 133% parry window timer after using a heavy weapon.

That is not how deflect difficulty works. It just effects how much spirit is consumed when you deflect. It does not change the parry window at all as far as I know.

One of my first and favorite games was the origional Ninja Gaiden for the origional Xbox. Also I want to thank them for helping us cope with the wait for ER dlc. I'm still waiting for Ninja Gaiden 4. A lot of changes make this system a lot better. One would be reviving players are at risk of a fatal strike. This is a universal punish anyone can access for brute force revivers. Add an extra half second to revives, and voila, tank builds and spam revivers in general don't get unduly rewarded for bad decisions.

Is a Stealth/Water build any use in PvP? I was wanting to use the Invisibility spell to set up easy backstabs. I can't really tell if the backstab/stealth mechanic applies to PvP or not....

Water would still buff your stealth damage and you can stealth deathblow people. I've gotten the prompt but the conditions aren't always clear.

My earth build was the primary one I used throughout the game. Full Zhao Yun Set(Unparalleled Spear plus Armor of Boldness set) rocked. I ended the game with my build being 60 Earth, 25 Wood, 25 Water. Absolutely smoked most of the endgame PvE and still goes strong in NG+. Focused on inflicting status in a chain of Chill(Water) > Heaviness(Earth) > Shock(Wood), which really destroys the enemy spirit bar and doing it in that order has a special benefit - as fully applying an element weakens the enemy to another element. It's always for the status that your currently applied one is weak to. So applying heaviness(Earth status buildup) makes the enemy weaker to lightning(Wood), since Earth is weak to Wood

God pvp in this game is so much fun. I wish they'd buff npc allies though. Whenever I invade a player with two npc followers, it is way too easy to kill them. I feel a little cheap killing the host with no backup, since a lot of those players (not all!) are not prepared for pvp. A bit more armor for npc allies against invaders would fix that

He's been a fixture in the fighting game community for a very, very long time, though he really got widely known because of the original Dark Souls, where he created one of the most devastating anti-meta pvp builds out there, to the point that basically everyone and their mother, me included, either copied it completely, or made some kind of variation on it. I wish I could invade. I've tried like 12 times since I started the game. I could only load into 3. Everyone else either gave me errors, or died before my 9 minute loading screen was over. Idk if it's because I am still on Xbox one or what, but it takes forever to actually load me in, even when playing solo.

I play on Xbox one and the time it takes to load vs the number of times people disconnect or go straight to the boss when I finally get in makes me not invade. And I was really looking forward to invasions. Is there a way to let people invade you solo and just lure invaders in to get constant pvp?

I'm pretty sure there's a way to adjust the settings but I never fiddled with it so take it with a grain of salt. Xbox one players will take a bit of time as you already know so try to find an area you feel like you know best and experiment to see what triggers the invasion system.

I'm new to wo long and my main complaint is it feels more passive than elden ring and ds3. Wait for opponent to attack. Parry/deflect. Move in, attack and repeat. Could be skill. I'm still learning to aggress.

If you mess up parrying the first light attack and get comboed, you end up at a spirit deficit. Your risk increases. The risk/reward is sorta balanced against passive play because of this. It still kinda favors being passive, but its not bad enough that proactive play is no good. The big issue is you get fatal countered for committing to certain martial arts because they are too easy to read and parry. I wouldn't use anything other than low windup martial arts unless the opponent is totally open, in which case its better to just fatal blow them.

Wow, I’m grateful Sekiro didn’t have PVP. But while Wo Long is tamer on its mechanics. We can’t at least now see how a developer vision of it would play out. I can see it, as clear as day. The moment the hardcore master this game, Martial Arts will be forbidden in PvP. Nobody will want to sacrifice their entire posture for some descent damage.

The morale system is why I stopped playing PvP. Its absurd to be put in a world where other players have much higher morale and kill you in 1-2 hits while it takes 10-20 hits to kill them. Literally nothing you can do about it.

see, the big difference between this game and dark souls games? Voluntary pvp. And yet people leave it on. So that basically means the ones who leave it on are less inclined to back out or something like that cause they WANT the smoke. Far better then people DC'n and quittin out when invaded in souls titles.
