Fun bit about me: growing up, back in the 80's, my mom wanted me to have a diverse taste in music so she had 4 cassette tapes in the car. Reba McIntyre, a Classical collection she found, the soundtrack to the movie Cocktail (HIGHLY underrated soundtrack), and the debut album of a brand new band called...GUNS N ROSES. We'd listen to all of them and sing our asses off to them, not caring who heard. Everyone should be that way. Listen to whatever you want, and sing like you don't care who hears you!

They did quite a few albums, mostly damn decent, but it's one of my favorites... AND yes, before you ask, you CAN sing along (when you get the words which ain't hard)... AND (finally) if nothing else, they ARE different. ;o)

I don't know how many times I listened to this after my best friend (aka Dad) passed in 2012. I cried so many times. @@MrNicky6 they don't make sense but I went and did a little research just to be sure and read an interview as well as a few other articles and that is the right. It's a start in the middle with a flash back kind of order. The story, at least from what I gathered was: them meeting, dating, and the wedding from November Rain, the fighting, the breakdown of their relationship that is rumored to be the cause of her death via suicide, and Axl's own fight with his demons from Don't Cry, then the funeral from November Rain, and ending with him dealing with her death in Estranged. Then again I could be completely wrong. Music is interpreted different by each listener and these videos have some crazy imagery. 😁

Some bands burn so bright they eventually burn out. Sadly these guys fall into that category. They did some truly great stuff but it couldn't last and it's a deep and tragic story as to why. But what we got was some very cool music covering several albums that are still looked at as musical milestones. I'm glad I got to see it while it was happening.

I've read the books from different perspectives and after learning the story of these young guys coming together, it was inevitable that it would all come apart. the short story "Without You" by Del James, available in the book The Language of Fear. That short story is inspired by Axl Rose ( Mayne in the story) and his relationship with his ex-wife Erin Everly ( Elizabeth in the story), and describes in it the misery of a blues-influenced professional rock star, with millions of records. sold and apparently has everything, but things as simple as love and happiness can not find. He leaves his old girlfriend a phone message, he realizes that something is wrong when she does not answer, then he proceeds to go to his apartment and when no one answers, he knocks the door down to find who his girlfriend was with a shot in the head, who committed suicide while listening to a song that her lover had written for her, who upon seeing her enters a huge void and tries to commit suicide, but could not since the weapon only had one bullet. We immediately see Mayne sitting on his bed in a great depression, he could never overcome the death of Elizabeth and in the midst of an anger for his love he begins to destroy all the objects in his apartment, including the most valuable like his guitars. In the midst of his anger he sees the piano and decides to play it, a flame is lit creating a great fire, but he never stops playing the piano and there he dies.

I'm so happy you listened to your subs after "Welcome to the Jungle" & followed up with this. It's a masterpiece & watching you absorb it was amazing. Definitely put another GNR on your list. "Sweet Child of Mine" & "Paradise City" will make you fasten that seat belt. And yes... I'm gonna mention it again. Foo Fighters "The Pretender". Bad ass video. Bad ass lyrics. 🔥 Ps. Someone mentioned Axl has 7 octave range. Its actually 6 but its one of the greatest in music. And Slash is AMAZING.

Came specifically for your reaction to the outro. Your face at 12:32 is exactly what I had hoped for!! You can just tell something awesome is coming right when Slash hits that chord. And 12:49 is the exact face I make every time that solo comes in haha.

“November Rain” is based on the short story “Without You”, written by Del James The story is about a rock star, grieving over the death of his girlfriend, who had committed suicide. It was inspired by Axl Rose’s troubled relationship with Erin Everly who's father was Don Everly of the Everly Brothers. "Wake Up Little Suzie" is my favorite Everly brothers song.

He should be on the list. Nobody played within the song better than Slash...PERIOD! Also, he came up with some of the best solos ever. Who's solos were better? Ritchie Blackmore is the only one I can think of. Flat-out technical ability means little compared to the things that make Slash so great.

You: "I feel safe" Me: "oh dear ..." My take on this video, which is an epic classic and a perfect representation of this epic song is that when the rain comes and the entire wedding gets ruined, it is symbolism for the tradgedy and catastrophe that is her death. Years ago when this video first came out I used to sit and wonder what the hell killed her at her reception. That's too simplified. I think she died shortly after they married, maybe there was rain involved..who knows, a car accident? In any event, he connects the rain and the time period after the wedding ceremony with losing her. I don't think I've seen a better reaction to the end of this video. There just isn't anything that can be said! Btw, his name isnt Alex, it's Axl (pronounced Axel)..like the thing on a car that holds the wheels. 😂 Also..that guitar solo scene was done pre drones. That was a helicopter getting those shots, thus the dust.

It's based on a short story and the implication is that she committed suicide via gunshot. That's why the casket is mirrored - half her head is, well, gone. You can see at a couple points in the video where she looks unhappy and is staring into distance, but is trying to hide it ( 4:08 , 9:15 , 10:17 ).

@@TheCabIe I remember when this video came out, my friend and I were commenting about the look on her face when she got into the car at the church. That was NOT the look of joy or happiness. You could definitely see an underlying sadness in her expressions if you really look. We noticed it, but it didn't click.

It is cool to see your generation seeing how our generation rocked with it. Stay cool, brother. I like your style. You are funny as hell.
