Fun bit about me: growing up, back in the 80's, my mom wanted me to have a diverse taste in music so she had 4 cassette tapes in the car. Reba McIntyre, a Classical collection she found, the soundtrack to the movie Cocktail (HIGHLY underrated soundtrack), and the debut album of a brand new band called...GUNS N ROSES. We'd listen to all of them and sing our asses off to them, not caring who heard. Everyone should be that way. Listen to whatever you want, and sing like you don't care who hears you!

the short story "Without You" by Del James, available in the book The Language of Fear. That short story is inspired by Axl Rose ( Mayne in the story) and his relationship with his ex-wife Erin Everly ( Elizabeth in the story), and describes in it the misery of a blues-influenced professional rock star, with millions of records. sold and apparently has everything, but things as simple as love and happiness can not find. He leaves his old girlfriend a phone message, he realizes that something is wrong when she does not answer, then he proceeds to go to his apartment and when no one answers, he knocks the door down to find who his girlfriend was with a shot in the head, who committed suicide while listening to a song that her lover had written for her, who upon seeing her enters a huge void and tries to commit suicide, but could not since the weapon only had one bullet. We immediately see Mayne sitting on his bed in a great depression, he could never overcome the death of Elizabeth and in the midst of an anger for his love he begins to destroy all the objects in his apartment, including the most valuable like his guitars. In the midst of his anger he sees the piano and decides to play it, a flame is lit creating a great fire, but he never stops playing the piano and there he dies.

You: "I feel safe" Me: "oh dear ..." My take on this video, which is an epic classic and a perfect representation of this epic song is that when the rain comes and the entire wedding gets ruined, it is symbolism for the tradgedy and catastrophe that is her death. Years ago when this video first came out I used to sit and wonder what the hell killed her at her reception. That's too simplified. I think she died shortly after they married, maybe there was rain involved..who knows, a car accident? In any event, he connects the rain and the time period after the wedding ceremony with losing her. I don't think I've seen a better reaction to the end of this video. There just isn't anything that can be said! Btw, his name isnt Alex, it's Axl (pronounced Axel)..like the thing on a car that holds the wheels. 😂 Also..that guitar solo scene was done pre drones. That was a helicopter getting those shots, thus the dust.

It's based on a short story and the implication is that she committed suicide via gunshot. That's why the casket is mirrored - half her head is, well, gone. You can see at a couple points in the video where she looks unhappy and is staring into distance, but is trying to hide it ( 4:08 , 9:15 , 10:17 ).

@@TheCabIe I remember when this video came out, my friend and I were commenting about the look on her face when she got into the car at the church. That was NOT the look of joy or happiness. You could definitely see an underlying sadness in her expressions if you really look. We noticed it, but it didn't click.

Mr.Video have I told you I love your reactions ☺️. I was obsessed with this video when I was a teen and it first comes out. The guitarist is Slash one of the greatest too! It’s sadness contributes to the beauty! Keep going down that GnR road, and enjoy!

Couldn't help but see you were kinda lost with this one. Never seen that before. Now, have ya, homie? Now ya be discovering our music. This is talent. This is sheer talent on display. No auto tune. Real instruments....no computerized/digitized musical sounds, here. These boys wrote and sang their own stuff. This is called entertainment. It is cool to see your generation seeing how our generation rocked with it. Stay cool, brother. I like your style. You are funny as hell. Big shoutout from just this old, longhaired, southern boy in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Much peace and lots of love. Bless you and yours. Be seeing you on the next. Later.

In the early 90’s when these guys were all on top of there game they were the biggest band in the world, they were bigger than Metallica and it looked like they would be the next Rolling Stones, I no that’s a big statement but I was there as a witness, unfortunately ego’s and drugs derailed what seemed like an unstoppable force. Thank you Mr. Video!! BTW Slash is the guitarist, top 5 metal/hard rock guitarist to ever pick up the instrument!!!👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻🤘🏻🤯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😎🐐
