It’s great that you show the whole video. Failures are great when you learn from them. Thanks for sharing that.

I've used skateboards to make several hammer handles. To keep from having weak spots and breaking like that, I will drill a hole, length wise, and insert a 1/4 rod and then cap off the ends before turning them. Works perfectly and haven't had any issues with cracking or breaking with significant use. Love your work BTW

Thank you for this video. I found you when I first started out turning pens on that video. Been a fan ever since. Just upgraded to a JET 1221 after a smaller other lathe. Because of the upgrade I am getting into larger items. So, this does help. Keep going. My local Rockler in Beaverton, Oregon just went through a remodel and it's so great! Be well.

@FullRythym3 жыл бұрын
@@WobyDesign Yeah man, they gotta be pretty high quality too to make the kind of stuff you make!
@areo133 жыл бұрын
@@FullRythym Can confirm, Rocklers stuff its pretty thought out and solid quality. What he didn't show in this video is those turning kits all take the same keyway and most come with the hex tool to hand turn the threaded insert into the blank. It's the details like that that make these projects welcoming or more approachable to newer makers than other kits that assume you have those ancillary tools and accessories.

Shame the layers snap so easily. I wonder if wood glue would've worked better for that? If you end up finding a solution, it'd be really cool if you made blanks long enough to make a pool cue.
