Ever since it appeared nearly 80 million years ago, the bee has occupied a special place in evolution. Untiring worker, essential to the development of vegetables, it is one of the foremost species maintaining our equilibrium on Earth. Mankind is fascinated by its perfect organization and its incredible reproduction process. And the relationship between people and bees throughout the world is equally plural. In a world where the climate is changing and biodiversity is gradually disappearing under the effects of “human activity”, the bee is in danger and so is our relationship with it.
This series is equal to this exceptional story and to the last men who are still sharing a close life with the bees for their mutual survival.

Its nice to see a family beekeeping endeavor in New Zealand. Theres a lot of inaccurate information in this however, for example at the 16+ minutes mark when you talk about guard bees defending the hive you say its impossible for a foreign bee to gain entry. How the hell do you think varroa mite and American foul brood spread😂 guard bee's will allow other workers to pass, especially if they are carrying nectar. Thats called drifting. A weaker colony can be overwhelmed and have all its honey taken by other stronger hives. Thats called robbing. Manuka is a North Island and coastal southern Island plant, it doesn't grow in central Otago in the south Island unless its been planted. Our main honey crop plant is Thyme. This is peppered with misinformation.

Comercial bee keeping is not doing the world any good . Here in Canada a beekeeper had 4600 hives over filling the environment with domestic pollinators. He also filled the environment with foul brood ' contaminated everything through miss management wiped out all the backyard beekeepers then quit . Now ..... no pollinators of any kind . Money managing money never works .

Whats the problem? why don't you go around and plant more trees like a mix and diverse flower plants and fruit trees? always take and take and nothing giving back now complaint why its getting harder, how stupid is that?
