Wodan Timbur Coaster Review, Europa Park Great Coasters International Coaster | Europe's Best GCI

Wow, the footage in this review convinced me this is one of the best-looking wood coasters in the world with all of its theming, landscaping, and queue interaction taken into account. Europa-Park and GCI killed it with this ride, and knowing how the Macks don't really like the rides in their park to be very intense this looks like it sits right where they were looking to place it on the intensity spectrum, a perfect fit for the park.

Heard it's a mid to top tier GCI, definitely first or second best at Europa Park. It has a very unique twister layout with even a station fly by. If it's intense enough for me then it might be my favorite at the park.

This is my favorite GCI. I have not ridden any in Asia but for Europe and the US this is my favorite. I also wish GCI made more drops like this too. Apocalypse kinda has a miniature version of this drop

I just rode Wodan for the first time this past week and man, did I love it. The other GCIs I've ridden (Heidi, Joris en de Draak and Troy) are all great, but Wodan's pacing is something else. This is in my eyes the best coaster of Europa Park, although my fiancé says Silver Star is better.

I was stationed in Germany from 2015-2018. Lucky for me, I was within reasonable driving distance to Europa Park and visited 2-3 per year. Wodan was my favorite coaster in the park. The station fly by is incredible.

Wodan is good during the day, but at night this ride is downright insane. I love this ride and it's Ride Op Crew. Also I agree with all your points. Also, this coaster is soon 10 years old.

This coaster looks INCREDIBLE! Love the theming! GCI is a great choice. I remember B&M having to have every other road wheel on Tatsu Polyurethane (as the coaster ran to fast) LOL! This is a TRUE masterpiece of showmanship of the park & GCI. Love station "flybys!"

Great review of my favorite coaster at Europa Park! I'm not exactly sure, but I think at least in Winter, this coaster runs on steel wheels - and this way, the ride is louder and more aggressive than ever \m/

I've ridden Troy in both 2019 and 2021. I rode it in the front, back, and middle. I rode it at the start and end of the day. I liked the ride, but I prefer Wodan.

I get that mythology will yield different spellings for deities, but I think the name Wodan was chosen because it combines Wotan (Odin, etc.) with wooden. I realize that "woodan" is an English word, but Countries in Europe are less insular than they used to so English is ubiquitous almost everywhere there. In 2009 you could survive Europe only speaking English as a tourist; in 1983 you couldn't. (Not that you'd get die or anything; you'd just never want to go back then unless either you or someone you were with spoke the language of any country you'd visit). Thanks for this review; it looks like a great coaster from an elite park and the best GCI in Europe, but not as good as the two biggest GCI coasters in China or Ghostrider (Which I realize was originally built by CCI) Thanks for posting!

I wish more GCIs had that scenic turn before the drop. Outside of China I think the only ones are Wodan and Apocalypse (correct me if I'm wrong ofc) and having only ridden Apocalypse it's my favorite first drop on a wooden coaster.

My son and I attending opening day at Great America. We were disappointed that Gold Striker was down. We found out it is being re-tracked though. I was optimistic about this idea, my son however, was not. We both enjoy the out of control rattle and wonder how they could improve such a great coaster. Do you have experience with re-tracked wooden or GCI coasters? What do you think?

Gold Striker has an amazing layout, but it was running rough in 2018.

Because of this and no one having anything with them I experienced a 12 second dispatch. My closest GCI, Wickerman rarely gets dispatches 10 times that speed!

If anyone who is scared of big drops is considering not riding this, I will say the first drop on Matterhorn Blitz is considerably more violent than Wodan's, and it's worth getting over your fear for if you like twisty coasters. Such a blast!

I liked Woden but I think it’s a middle of the pack gci. I’d probably say this is my 6th or 7th favourite coaster they’ve made. Very fun ride though, just not super intense in my opinion.

This GCI wooden coaster uses the same Millennium Flyer trains as most GCIs, and I don't mind the wheels.
