Chris has been in Southern California for a long time now and appears to have been influenced by some of its crazy progressivism to the point where I think he has accepted it as normal. Gary rightly pointed out how bizarre and illegal such an event is, and the fact that Alan goes to these events without Chris while Chris claims that Alan is like a brother to him is pathetic. That _Dune 2_ trailer gave me serious "Chani -- GIRLBOSS" vibes. And that is NOT in the book, as far as I recall. In fact, I don't think Chani does all that much in the second half of the novel, and I certainly don't remember any passages describing her constantly fighting in battles.

At one time used to do this stuff and you are right some trailers are very deceptive....It also seems in recent times when they do not have much of a movie they throw a lot of stuff in them that gives it all a way as well.....Knowing that is why I said "seemingly"....I loved the books and have seen the adaptations and it is one of those books that is open to interpretation in many places....That part of the trailer just struck me it does not mean that I will not see the movie though...I will tell you the truth though....I have seen enough of the trailers and I just want to see the flik....@@bz6046

I see bad things in the Dune trailer that may confirm my worries were correct. I see a feminist empowered Chani and a minimized Paul. Having Zendaya play Chani was always a bad choice, and I think it indicates how the character will be portrayed. The little shown in the first part was bad enough, but "Chani" could entirely ruin part 2.

Agreed. In the first movie you had Mother & Daughter both put down Paul in their few lines “What don’t you understand? You’re a boy hiding in the desert” & “They say you’re the Mahdi, but you look like a little boy”. Isn’t Chani a little Girl? Hasn’t Paul just lost his Father and entire Atreides forces. Why would Kynes mock and insult Paul in this way at this moment? Gender swapping Liet is disrespectful to the source material and it matters if one wants to count the prequels written by his son and co-author. They are changing the book to give her more agency and Paul delivering lines such as “I would like to be equal to you” are so out of place. No one says weird things like that in normal speech. They should have hired Sophia Boutella to play Chani despite her being older than Timothy and Kynes should have been Alexander Siddig. The director knows how to make a cinematic masterpiece but he straying from the book and changing things to push Chani’s character to the front. It’s Paul’s story.

Immediately leave the area the gun is in. 3. Find a responsible adult and tell them about the gun. You could replace the word "gun" with any other dangerous object, and the rules would work just as well. For example, when I was a little kid, blasting caps were unregulated and we were taught to follow the same three rules if we were to ever encounter a discarded blasting cap in the wild. This sounds crazy, but blasting caps were commonly used to ignite explosives on construction sites in the 20th century, and idle construction sites were like giant slightly less-than-lethal playgrounds for kids back then. There were warnings and identification guides in the backs of comic books on how to identify discarded blasting caps. I never personally saw a loose blasting cap, but I knew what they looked like!

California most likely has more conservatives than Texas, but they can’t compete with the power bases within the coastal cities in California. The desert, sierras, Central Valley and the north are all conservative areas for the most part, more so than much of the east coast.

I don't know to me Brie Larsen was as bad in Kong: Skull Island than she was in Captain Marvel. Same emotionless face. No engagement, no sunlight coming from her, not even seeming to having fun. And it was an adventure movie! Only place I liked her acting was in "Room".

RE: Civil War, always accuse the other side of what you're doing. As far as CA and TX, they have most of the people and a huge chunk of the economy, so I could see them joining up if only go get rid of a federal govt, but then sorting each other out after that. There were two black employees at Dollar General and they were talking to each other about the front door being broken and a white customer broke it. Talking about how white people are that way because they won't get in trouble for it and all because of white privilege. If they were white employees do you think they would have the same thoughts?..
