Thanks for your review of those Duke 850. A friend of mine in Maine bought those traps and they didn't hold up on a bear. It was a non intentional catch. The trap is now scrap metal. The bear was not there when he got there in the morning but it pulled the springs off like you were saying you were afraid of. Seeing that you had the modifications done I hope you have better luck on a wolf. Love watching your videos.👍🏻🇺🇲.

Great video, great traps. Best of luck and keep us posted on those new Duke 850s. Also the new professional series Duke 550 and 650s are awesome cat and coyote traps designed the same as those 850s . Duke has improved there line of traps 110 percent compared to the old days so definitely try out there new traps 👍✌️🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🦊

I'm not a wolf trapper, but I handled one at our trappers rendezvous and my conclusions are pretty similar to yours. Didn't think of a spring keeper though! Trap on! God bless!

That game call, what is that? I have never seen one like that. Predator call? A spike nail makes a good J-hook. I haven't heard about those traps. They look pretty good really. I was going to suggest welding a nut over that spring bar, but you beat me to it. I'm on the phone, and might have missed it, but what do these measure? Strange shape, they really slope where the spring levers go. Cost about the same as an MB-750?

As always a great video. I drove 5.5 hrs down too West Point MS to Duke Traps. I bought the pro 850's for beaver trapping. Also bought some of the Duke # 2 SJ offset dogless 4 coil traps. I got home i laminated the jaws on the 2s. Put 2 more mb swivels. Add 10 ft chain and a drag for coyote trapping.

Hey, didn't see where you linked to Mac's business. I need some chain setups done, and having them welded already would be a huge bonus. I wish MB would make an 850 sized trap, I'd be all over'em. Those 750s just struggle coming up through snow when it gets deep, but it's the trade off for having an affordable option made here in the States.

Good video on the Duke. Maybe could thread the spring keeper and weld a nut after threading on. Dog less would be nice as you said. Alaska #9's are not dog less either and those are liked by a lot of Alaskans. I like to weld the j hooks together too. My bet is they will work pretty good. On a side note, my neighbor was telling me about seeing a camp with a deer hide and hash marks near his elk camp. I told him it was you. Small world.

From the base plate I put 7 inches of chain then the first swivel. Makes bedding easier. Tack the base plates and weld a nut on for a spring keeper. Wolf killers in AK this year for sure;

@@lobopropredatorcontrol definitely slower than a no. 9, but 1/3 the price. They are faster than my mb750s when coming up through the snow. Those are the only two I have to compare to. I hope you make a catch with one!

That’s probably the best trap I’ve ever seen work ,,,the only problem is they work to well….we got a dam cat in one a itty bitty cat like 110 pounds and it took a very long time to get it off ….AND TO THE BEAR CATCH ,,,,,,120 pounds is way different than 500 pounds…. These are not made for bear …

I definitely wouldn’t want that box swivel right under the trap, that would be a pain to bed it. I’d also not want that big pan up on the top corners, you’d get some catches that would possibly just get a toe or two because the pan gets too close to the jaw. Maybe shave them on the corners.

I’ve never ran one not tack welded but I’ve had them break a drag ear off of one so I wouldn’t risk it, I believe they are 8 inches but haven’t taped one yet but I will

I think these are a beaver trap at best I can’t figure out how to tighten the pan to 10 lbs without taking the whole trap apart Lame 😒 other than that a tank of a trap for wolf I drilled a hole and put a bolt n nut tightened it down got to about 8lbs. These traps need too much modifications to be of great value in my opinion. Even the MB 750 is a beaver trap made into a wolf trap. Like you said there is no perfect wolf trap…. Double long spring 4.5 by sleepy creek so far is my fav wolf trap

Awesome video I just found your channel. What do you think of the levers? They look pretty lite weight. I have ran montana #3s on coyotes and they bend the shit out of them. Just got some 850's from Mac, How do we get the pan tension up on them ? Working with one of the traps and there is so little tolerence from the dog to the pan its very hard to make a adjustment with out totally changing the Pan. The pan sets very low out of the box. Thank you for your help.

You would be better off asking Mac about how to adjust them, you can file the dog but I don’t have any experience on it

I really like your videos and the way you trap. We don't have wolves in Georgia, but I trap coyotes here and I know you have them and trap them as well. I may be wrong but I don't think any trap comes with that last j-hook. I know the MB750's don't come with it, and I don't think any of the Minnesota Brand traps do. I really don't think that there is any trap company that supplies those.
