People seem to be forgetting the irony of the characters in Wolfenstein. You have a pretend-priest that follows Karl Marx's ideology that refused to fight the Nazis (also avoided the draft) until persuaded by BJ (who gladly joined in the draft). You have a black woman resistance figurehead that thinks she's hot shit but got her ass handed to her by a fat aryan lady. You have a black man that wants that fat white woman, but ends up deciding to switch ladies. You have an Alex Jones tier mad man where his conspiracy theories are likely to be right. You have a young veteran turned hippy. I can go on. The only character without that irony is Fergus. Ignoring the political and societal implications, though, this felt more or less just a dlc for the previous game. $60 for 55gbs with less than 20 hours of content? I think I'll pass.

The "gunplay" is literally the same. There's slightly different sounds, slightly different guns, and 120% more camera bob, but the fucking thing plays EXACTLY the same way as the two previous titles, including LoTR length cut-scenes.

I think he just likes games where he can find upgrades and perks etc. Both games have pretty similar combat. Difference is stealth is a much less viable option in New Colossus and now you can mix and match weapons, which makes selecting the weapons you want even more cumbersome...so that's awesome.

I think when New Order first came out Mack was very disappointed that it was Call of Dutyfied, like the first Black Ops where there's so many interactive cutscenes and linear levels. This game has more open levels with more enemies to kill.

Elex is a pretty fun game. The combat will annoy you at the start, but once you get use to it and upgrade your weapons, it gets better. The feeling of being scared of every thing, every noise at night can make your heart race. You have to role play it, or you just get annoyed. If you want to know what it feels like to be underpowered and alone, the first 5 hours in Elex pretty much sum it up.

I'm surprised you thumbed this up Mac. I personally find Wolf 2 just more of the same.. Judging by your complaints, Old BLood had almost no cutscenes the whole game. There are 5 if I'm not wrong, and all short. Way shorter than RTCW. Gunplay was similar. I guess in this you decided to explore levels and find its secrets while in TNO you just rushed to the exit. That could've been remedied if you picked a higher difficulty coz you'd need that extra max health and armor.

They kinda did, I mean, they sort of join your group in fighting against the nazis. But it is not internally consistent really, because the leader of the communists is a religious person, and as such would be the first up against he wall in a communist regime, since religion is opiate of the masses and bla bla. But in the final scene, there is this speech being given on a hijacked broadcast where the protagonist says that line, while standing next to this supposedly communist. The game is really hamfisted in the political grandstanding, and I think it would be fair to call it antifa simulator, because it has about the same level of nuance and knowledge about politics.

This game managed to more or less lose me with its marketing before I even considered the actual game. It was lazy, boring and disturbing plugging into the current climate like that, I commend them for it though any bad publicity is good and all that. The characters and cheesy pandering story are awful as well like some reject from a Quentin Tarantino film, infinitely prefer the dark occult story of RTCW and Wolf09 over this. Whatever doesn't matter what I or anyone says it will sell well criticism will be dismissed as triggered, alt right blabla, I'll just skip through a play through on here and give my money to things like Shadow Warrior 2.

I don't wish to be combative (there's enough of that in the comments already), rather I think your comment highlights the difference between "FPS" and "Action/Adventure". In Action/Adventure, the story is as important as the gameplay. Hence, the extensive use of cutscenes and over-controlled action segments. Machine Games have actually described this game as an Action/Adventure rather than a FPS. In this context 14 hours to tell the story is good by modern standards. However, in a FPS, the only thing that matters is the gameplay. Some kind of background story is fine but secondary to the action. The replay value is in the challenge of playing better and/or on harder difficulties. Looking at the pure FPSs I've played (e.g. Doom 1, DN3D, Quake 1, Serious Sam games, Painkiller, FEAR 1 and, more recently, Shadow Warrior 2 to name a few) these offered tens if not hundreds of hours of gameplay as you replayed the game, usually on harder difficulties, just for the joy of playing. I think Mack uses pure FPSs as reference points when he judges games like this. Perhaps it's time to seperate the genres more rigorously.

Isn't this the problem with the new Wolfenstein's though? I mean, they are neither one thing nor another or rather they are trying to be all things to all men in a bid to increase market share. I am assuming here that Colossus and New Order are similar in construction (just the gameplay is better in Colossus according to Mack). RTCW was a primarily an FPS, agreed? Yes there was a decent story but we were all there for the atmosphere and the gun play, which is still very solid today. But fast forward to today and Colossus (and New Order and Old Blood), supposedly a re-boot of the Wolfenstein concept is now an Action Adventure?? When did that happen and why?? Why so many cut-scenes? Why isn't the FPS side of it the focus like it was in the original game? It's almost like we are getting a fake Wolfenstein, yest it looks like Wolfenstein .. but it's not really is it? We all know that, which tbh is quite disappointing because most gamers are really wanting to have a REAL Wolfenstein not this fake one, which is actually like you said more of an action adventure. I guess the marketing guys decided that would sell better!!! And yet Mack believes Colussus is worth a buy. Well, maybe it has just enough decent gameplay in there to scrape over the line. Am I excited about Colossus? .. nah .. there are more interesting games out there for me to spend my money on. I'll get it on sale, if at all. (Disclaimer, played and finished both New Order and Old Blood .. I actually preferred Old Blood, it felt more like the old Wolfenstein, still not enough though).

In that stream he had it locked 60 aswell like 90% of the time but somepoint it dropped below 30 and he had to restart the game. Not being fps fuckboy just think that this game does not have much to give at storywise you just shoot things up like in the review =D and smoothness plays a big part there if it does not have anything else to give.

It did and I only found out it was originaly a sx25 when I eventually upgraded. Happy days with 2 meg ram and and a 50 meg hard drive As for the gpu it was some Trident ISA bus with less than a meg of ram.

Anyone with a PC that has an SLI configuration are going to experience great hardship while attempting to run this game, the game barely runs in SLI, the constant fluctuation in frame rate is so erratic it may induce an epileptic fit, it is totally unplayable. Disabling SLI and playing the game using only one card will fix it, the frame rate will be much higher and it will run much more smoothly.

i will try the game in a few months, i still need some performance updated and drivers, hitting 144fps on 1440p with a 1070 is very difficult. and im not paying to be stuck in cutscenes all day ffs.
