Jerry u and Ms. Kagan are truly amazing. Y’all are truly the testament of how animals are meant to be treated when they’re in the care of humans. Here outside Houston the temps are hot but mornings have been kinda cool. We’re in the same boat weather wise. We think it’s cool outside and the yanks think we’re crazy for wearing hoodies. Thanks for another banger sir. Keep up the great work y’all and keep that smile on ur sidekick.

Alexander was the smartest one of the lot as he brought his food bac out of his hide box (even though he took it into there to begin wit) to eat it as he didn’t wanna make a mess in his bed unlike everyone else… especially as u could see some feathers drop out of the quail as he grabbed it in the beginning… everyone else was just taking it in wit them b obviously couldn’t care less if they had a few dropped feathers hanging around there bed or there lay box after they had finished lol… xxxxx

It definitely gets hot enough for them to digest. My animals actually eat more and process more during the winter than they do almost the entire summer during the rainy months.

Hey Jerry and Kagan, Jerry, I'm here in Toronto, Canada. I can't smell ya. And I'm not hearing Kagan complaining, so maybe the smell is all in your head man??? Hahahaha I have an idea for upgrades in the monitors enclosures next year once it's warm again: What about building one large cement box in each enclosure with a cement wall dividing the box in 1/2 on the inside. That making one side directly open to the air from the main entrance which you could flap the door of, and the other side more of a thermal box, that would also double as a laybox during laying season but during the colder season could be where both monitors, M/F could stay, a WinterBox so to say. The first room the HideBox would have the heater on the floor, the same way you do now. The "Laybox/ Hybrid Winter Box, the heater mounted on the side wall in the same way you have it in the lay boxes now, and if you wanted to have another one on the floor just to be safe. Use Plastic Electrical Conduit inbedded in the cement walls for the electrical chords from the heaters through the cement walls up to the plug box, which will stop any cold air from creeping in, that also makes it so the monitors couldn't get tangled up in electrical wire. For Box Tops see if Universal Rock would supply insulated lids (A Sponsor for the channel), that have a core of Styrofoam Board, and you would just push them down into the tops so there is a tight thermal seal not letting water in and keeping the cold out. The dry soil in the box would control the humidity inside the box along with the heater, keeping it from getting too wet inside the box. In the first box, (The Hidebox), make it spacious but put a few inches of soil ontop of the heater that is laying on the floor, the sand/ soil helping to retain the heat but giving a bit more comfort to the monitors and space to move around better. In the second box, (The Laybox/WinterBox), Mount the heater on the back wall as you do now for egglaying, but also put a heater on the floor, and have them on a flip switch so you can choose laybox heat or winterbox heat. Then load the Laybox/ Winterbox side with soil. The monitors could choose if they want to dig in for the winter or if they want to have more space and going to the HideBox, either way they are adequately warm and can choose on their own where to go to self acclimate. You could install the SensorBox's in each HideBox The doorway in between the HideBox and LayBox/ WinterBox, could be built to be adjustable with a slide in door big enough for the female to fit through, but not the male, keeping him from getting into the LayBox when there are eggs laid, and digging them up. That way the females feel more secure about laying in the LayBox with the males in the enclosure. The outer cement walls act as more of a thermal barrier keeping the spaces cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and would also help your electrical bill by not having to keep the heating pads on continuously, which also helps to extend the life of the heaters to. I hope that makes sense. Does it? Cheers, Matt - Toronto. Canada

Hey Jerry, you guys are awesome. I do have a suggestion for you. Instead of taking the lid off and screwing the flaps to the front, why not screw down from the top. That way you never have to take the tops off. You might have to use a thicker piece of wood but would makes things a lot easier. Keep up the great work!

What are the thresholds you look for to turn on mats, one vs two etc. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say?
@WolfesWorld
@WolfesWorld Ай бұрын
Right now, I have them on at night to teach them to use the boxes. A normal threshold, I wouldn’t need the bottom heat mat on unless it was in the mid to low 60s and I wouldn’t turn the upper one on until we get into the 40s

Jerry would you consider making a concrete form to fill the spaces on the two sides of the water totes? It would fill the area under the lip of the container so no creatures can hide back there.

I wonder if you could use river rock in at least the part of the enclosure to help with drainage like when u are flipping water tubs.
@AXPorto

This would be best, alle enclosures in primarily white sand. Only dirt around the plants? And river rock around the water tray

I know money is tighter right now, maybe for next year try to have small camera which have temp reading in all hide boxes. Most of them you can set alarms if temp is too low. This would make checking at night soo much easier

Hi Jerry and Kagan - I have been following your chanel since the begining and watched you on Kenan's chanel before. If you haven't already found a name for Drago - how about 'Rook' - they are black - it is easy to remember plus if you intend to marry him off to Raven - they sort of fit. Love from the UK - Barbara

Jerry Kagen can vouch for me with snakes on having a cool spot and hot spot so animal can regulate its temp. With big monitors and small enclosed boxes there's no real separation. If you have a temp gun take some readings of pad,box, animal,animal after it comes out and any other combo. Y'all call it vis queen i call it plastic tarp or drop cloth but if youdid roof n sides itd be like a green house and i think its Farm Tek has some stuff you might like Plus you shot down my water idea citing sickness passing from one to another but has that ever happened? Reason i bring this back up i have a new ideal to adapt to your already built enclosures which again has flowing circulating flow and you can add vales for water change n refill. 🤘😆🤘

If they can’t swallow it they will break it up in the smaller pieces and get it down. Ultimately, it was quail we had to call and had on hand and not something we ordered… Either way is OK for the animal

@ i understands. Just saying. Since you raising them now. You can control the sizes. Make it “easier” On them. But yea. I known they’ll figure out a way to eat it. And it’s nice to give them the “work” at times. ❤️

Jerry, I love your work, the concept behind, and appreciate to see all the animals. Don't get me wrong, I understand the value of the explanations you give; however, I think you would waste less time and energy when doing a video if you show what you are doing and give explanations at the same time (use a tripod) instead of roaming around telling what you will or have to do... the value of your work will be the same (explanations are there), and we would see more of the enclosures, of the animals. I think that way, your time creating content will not be added to the time spend working on your projects... just an idea. Glad the hurricanes didn't affect to much your property.
@WolfesWorld

I just don’t know how to compress a project that takes eight hours or more into a video. I do know that I need to start showing more of the work either in timelapse or certain clips of cutting or screwing things in
