I just want to add my plus one to the keep it up camp! I only started playing VGC in Sword and Shield, and I feel like there's a huge amount of historical meta experiences that I am missing. The sheer scope of how much time I've missed, as well as some inconsistent quality of content, makes it feel very daunting for me to try to learn on my own about past metagames and what made pokemon work well in them. This series is so much more approachable! You're doing a great job of explaining the context for each match to us sword/shield natives. And it's super cool that you can provide both contemporary and modern analysis as well as personal insights for a lot of them! Anyway, keep it up! Thanks heaps.

I think they nerfed confusion too much. 66% chance to break through confusion is nuts. Swagger should’ve just had its accuracy cut to 75% and/or lowered the attack buff from two stages to one stage. Confusion can already be removed by switching out, or by randomly snapping out of confusion. As for paralysis, lowering Thunder Wave’s accuracy from 100% to 90% and making electric types immune was smart. Ground types should also be immune to paralysis in my opinion.

Several months later, Will-O-Wisp’s accuracy increased to 85 and electric type were immune from thunder wave. One more generation later, dark type were immune to Prankster, para’s speed drop became 50 percent, swagger’s accuracy became 85, the odd of hitting itself in confusion dropped to 1/3, Tapu Lele and Fini appeared to counter Prankster status spam. Prankster Thundurus finally disappeared from competitive Pokémon battle. All of theses changes probably originated from this game This game single handily shows how nasty competitive Pokémon could be and alarmed GF how should they change this game.
