I think jam requires that you sterilize the jars and lids before using, and then boil the jars when they are filled. This is to prevent things like bacteria and botulism. When you take the jars out of the steaming bath, you will hear the lids "pop", and that is the signal they are properly processed/sealed. That aside: Beautiful first birthday party for a lovely boy.

RIGHT?!? I highly suggest you do NOT skip sterilizing the jars - or boiling them after filling - otherwise people can get very, very sick. (Not trying to be a buzzkill, just a long time canner who was shocked that that step was ignored.)

Please anyone making the jam - do not skip the water bath canning step if you are making the jam to keep longer than a few days!

You have to seal the jam jars in boiling water otherwise the jam molds... it would need to be refrigerated . Not a step to skip if your party was like a week later or you didn't refrigerate.

For your jamjars you can put elastic around the jars neck and fasten your ribbon to that removable but pretty. Great set up. Love everything. Great job done

Kim.. I remember we you announced you were pregnant. I was so happy for you and your family. I found out about a month later I was pregnant too! With a boy due Nov 29th! I, too, have struggled with a clingy little boy who never sleeps. But knowing I wasn't alone in all this really has helped me get through those tough moments. @@thewadsquad actually just squeezing the juice from the apples and drinking it fresh, nothing added is the best. Lasts about 4 day's before it will start turning. But don't drink more that a glass or 2 a day, or else you and the porcelain throne will become best friends. 🤣😂 We live where there are apple tree's everywhere and wild apple's are the best. We press for cider every year and can applesauce. Best thing about apple's is you never have to add anything to them when pressing for juice or canning applesauce. It's the purest fruit to process. 😍🍎🍏
