It would be hilarious-in a perverse sort of way-if TTS was right and Dorn faked his own death so that he could atone for the greatest of all failures-failing to defend his father while on the Vengeful Spirit. And, that atonement would be guarding his father's broken body until he returned-one way or another. You could even posit that he purposely left his “arm” lying around somewhere so that his sons wouldn’t look for him, or would at least have to look throughout the galaxy and not on terra? Maybe?

I think the whole premise that Russ/Dorn might be annoyed about Imperium Secundus assumes that Sanguinius didn't mention it at all between getting back to Terra and the Vengeful Spirit and the Guilliman never mentioned afterwards. Like, I can't imagine Sanguinius didn't give a bit of a debrief when he made it back like 'huge warp storm, couldn't see Astronomican, no messages from Terra, so we feared you'd been overrun and tried to set up something stable with what we had before fighting back. Also, we had the Night Lords and Word Bearers all over us. When we found that wasn't the case, we tried to get through but only one legion could make it, so here we are. I hope the others make it through in a bit." Hell, even if they didn't say so back in 30k, that whole thing took like a minute to explain, so I think Guilliman could get it through to Russ or Dorn with only a small brawl or none at all. If anything, I can see Dorn being more pissed off at Guilliman's Unnumberd Sons and rewrites to the codex that was apparently grounds for war ten thousand years ago......

Dorn has been fantastic in Siege of Terra (so far); especially when he helped spring the trap at the Saturnine. Fulgrim was there, in full demon prince form, squashing the few remaining Imperial Fists on the port, slapping around Sigismund, and then Dorn steps out. Standing there, leaning on his sword hilt just like the FW model, Fulgrim attacked him with speed and supernatural ability. Dorn absolutely whooped Fulgrim's ass. Fully empowered Fulgrim got wrecked by Dorn; then remarked about being bored of the war and having other interests beyond the throne world, he smoke-bombed and slithered away. But there was no doubt - Dorn completely shut him out.

The problem with all returning primarchs is that Guilliman will have 100+ years advantage in advancing towards godhood. And not just from the point of view of the story, but for themselves in in-universe. They will be, for the fore-seable future, always second best - assuming that the worship of the Imperial population won't give them a boost... So, what role could they have? A loyal tool in the hand of their brother? Or a troublemaker?
@ryansauchuk72903 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what worship you're talking about. People worship the Emperor not the Primarchs. They do respect and admire them but any Primarch cults would be exterminated faster than your Commissar can say "fix bayonets". I mean it took the greatest psyker in the history of the galaxy hooked up to a Psychic boosting Throne being fed thousands of souls a day and the fanatical worship of Trillions for 10 thousand years to get where he is, a century of being respected ain't gonna do much in the God department. Now if you're talking about bringing the military and political structures under his control then yes he would have an advantage if he had to go head to head with a brother.
@RaimoKangasniemi3 жыл бұрын
@@ryansauchuk7290 The population's worship - or adulation, if we want to remove the implication of an actual, organized cult which there isn't - of Guilliman is boosting his powers, just like humanity's faith in and worship of the Emperor is turning him into an actual god.

Kinda like the D&D difference between a sorcerer and a wizard. Wizards can learn it but with a sorcerer it is built in as well, it is part of them. That is how it is for the Lion. He can "feel" the tactical situation and act.
@nogodsnomasters76693 жыл бұрын
Even though I’m a huge Imperial Fists fan, I’m not sure he would mesh well with Guilliman, unless that split the duties between admin and military or maybe each takes a side ( of the galaxy ). How would the emperor react, on one hand he would have his Praetorian back and the other a son who created his own empire, a tough spot for Guilliman. A more dynamic story would be the Lion or Russ.
@jaghatai_bulut3 жыл бұрын
Lion and Guilliman makes sense, Guilliman would rule, Lion would lead the armies. But Lion has a tendency to trust noone with power but himself. I can see serious drama between primarchs. Russ on the other hand has a tendency to act stupid. Things would be much easier if he stayed in Terra instead of chasing Horus and not trying to actually kill Magnus. Jaghatai is a good option but again, he does his own thing instead of actually doing what he is told to do. it usually turns out well but not reliable enough. My best hope would be Russ, returning as a matured man. Some Odin kind of trope would be awesome. I would love to see him changed into someone who is much wiser and much less impulsive. The main thing about Dorn is two things, a wicked temper and a mind that is ALL practical. He would have his blow up, then he would get down to business, he would want to know Everything, who, what, where, when, everything. If it had not happened yet, get with Guilliman. If the second empire comes up, the temper would kick in, then the practical. I don't think Dorn would remain to build defenses again, not this time, most likely "make" Robute be the defender to make up for the last time. He would cross the rift and find the Blood Angels and Dante and the practical would take over, practical vengeance.

Would he though? Dorn was the Emperor's crusader, he took nothing for himself save recruits to field more expeditionary fleets. Roboute spent much of the Crusade consolidating his own pocket-domain of 500 worlds that were at least, in part, loyal to _him_ specifically. I think the Emperor might be more like "Do what you do, son" rather than bring him back to Terra *unless* he brings him back to Terra *specifically* to disabuse people of the idea that the Primarchs are Princes of the Throne as some people seem to be styling Roboute.

Dorn would be the single most stabilizing force with regards to a Primarch return that GW could employ. He is universally respected by the Custodes and has the unique capacity of having the most detailed understanding of the Palace of anyone outside of Valdor and Malcador. His mind is tactically on par with Guilliman and superiorly suited to warfare and defense which would put him squarely in the position of leading the next crusade, much like the Lion, however to Rogal's credit he is much more adept at fortifying and holding positions which would help a lot if he were to start reclaiming lost sections of Imperium Nihilus. I don't believe the Unremembered Empire would be much of a revelation to him as he was very close to Sanguinius at the end and he understood Roboute's mind, and probably had made similar contingencies himself if found in a position where he was cut off. The main thing to remember with Rogal from that perspective is that he as ordered back to Terra by the Emperor and subsequently assigned to build up the palace defenses. So while we know that Rogal is loyal to a fault and follows orders to the letter, he was also on the entirely opposite side of the coin from Gulliman with regards to the ruin storm and the situations that event created. Finally, I also think the setting of 40K supports an even closer relationship between the two than they had during the heresy and scouring. Guilliman is having to adjust to the ramifications of his own rules and subsequently adjust the use of them on the fly, and that being the case he is revisiting the discussions he's had with his brothers, probably most prominently those of him and Rogal, whom he wishes he could have back most. I could see Dorn not necessarily reforming the legion by name, but most definitely wielding the successor chapters as a legion. He would at minimum ensure that all of the chapters are in constant communication and logistically supportive of each other, and likely ensure that the basic battle doctrine of the legion was re-installed into their different regimens. All of that awesomeness being considered, I think it would just make the Imperium way too OP for Dorn to come back short of another end times scenario. GW can't afford to overload the Imperium or the story stagnates and dies, and right now all of the Chaos powers are in disunity so aside from the Tyrranids there isn't a threat so big that the Imperium has to truly unite and function on that level. The Lion returning makes sense because he is directly related to the story line of the amassing Fallen, and Dark Angels, and he has a dynamic and tenuous relationship with Guilliman so it makes for plenty of shifting stories in the future, but unless they are going to try and turn Guilliman into the new Horus by having him fall to Chaos somehow, Dorn would just be too much of an add

I feel like getting as many of the brothers back as possible would be beneficial. Guilliman would be able to handle the affairs of keeping the Imperium running, with Lion, Khan, and Russ handling the war effort. Corax would also be a part of it, but instead of being on the frontlines of the Indomitus Crusade like Russ, Khan, and Lion, he would be leading covert operations to weaken the enemy from within. And with each world reclaimed by the Imperium in the Indomitus Crusade, Dorn and Vulkan can rebuild those worlds and fortify them better than they have been for the last 10,000 years. Now if only we had a means to resurrect Primarchs like Sanguinius and Ferris Manus, then we'd really be cooking!

Honestly, the man seems like what he inherited from his father is his being anathema to Chaos. If he's just standing in the warp, I'm not sure the warp could actually do anything to him, no slow corruption or whatever from ambiance alone. Daemon might be able to do it, but I doubt the warp itself could.

@@inquisitorsneed2 it is true, the end of Penitent states the name of the King in Yellow is Constantin Valdor. "Bequin and her own entourage recovered a book whose entire contents were a single name which was apparently the identity of the King in Yellow. The first words in the book were Constantin Valdor." The entire book is a single name, Custodians of Valdor's standing have hundreds, if not thousands, of names for all their various accomplishments. Constantin Valdor is the beginning of his name, the first names granted by the Emperor

Rogal and Corax switched places! Corax laid seige to Lorgar's tower so he could make sure Lorgar never gets away, and Corax can crack it open eventually to get to Lorgar's gooey center. Rogal (knowing ALL the fortifications and hallways by heart) has been creeping around the Palace, staying in the shadows, and guarding the Emperor.

I think the chapter he'd relate with the most of his sons would be tee excoriators as they represent morev of his core values and reflect dorns own self loathing and repentance, if we go on the precident he came back broken, dour and changed he's like the templars less as they represent the exact inverse of his ideals methods and even when he was hurt mentally he only reluctantly acknowledged they were his sons while saying he personally hates the ideals they uphold, that being said he would understandably be a little more liked as he's more inclined to be more aggressive now, but he certainly will still hate the irrationality the templars display and constantly fail to rethink. Just some food for thought but the excoriators are the most true sons of dorn as the really represent the more somber nature of dorn and truly encapsulate his methods mindset and personal beliefs as well as his personal mindset after his push twards his extremeist caricature twards his end in the story.

Sebastus IV and the Iron Cage was about depriving the only intact traitor legion of a salient before the loyalist legions were broken apart into combat-ineffective chapters that wouldn't have been up to the task. The edict of the Second Founding already killed his legion, he was just going to make sure it didn't die with work left undone.

I would personally love Dorn returning to the Imperium along side a perfect clone of Perturabo with the two being at each other's throats, but needing the other to help escape Obliterator Perturabo. A few untouched Iron Warriors would also be fun to have them help the duo out of the warp and back to Terra. At that point, I have no idea of what would happen.

If I were the writers I would have to do a whole series on how the dark eldar captured Dorn and have him imprisoned. Only for Perturabo to find out about it and wage a costly and brutal all out war to rescue him decimating the iron warriors. Perturabo may be looking to ease some of his guilt and he and Dorn could find some sort of forgiveness for each other on the way back to the imperium. What would Guilleman say when not one brother but two return to the emperors light having a new found understanding of each other?

I think RD will probably be one of the last, if not *the* last of the Loyalist Primarchs to return. Just because there would be a sort of a beautiful symmetry if that were the case. RD waited on Guilliman to come during the Siege of Terra, believing he would return. 10,000 years later Guilliman will wait for Dorn to return and save the Imperium.

I think Guilliman and Dorn would first move to restore their legions because it's obvious to both of them the numbers required to combat the threats in the current time is much greater than the chapters can possibly field. The Primaris project provides them with the opportunity to build numbers dramatically. I believe Dorn and Guilliman would campaign in tandem each directing parallel offenses. I think the next after Dorn would just about have to be the Lion

i think the unremembered empire is gonna come up at the end of the siege of terra, guilliman being outed during the codex astartes debate as a barb to cause discontent but i don't think any of the loyal primarchs will give a toss after calming down, since they all fought together. The ecclesiarchy finding out sanguinius was a second emperor and the high lords also finding out in the modern era though could be the issue
@jaffaholland40393 жыл бұрын
I think he would lead the black templar and head straight to the nearest fallen plant/system and regain it, then use the fists to make it secure. I also think that he would rebuild to full legion strength for both. Each system he freed would be then ruled by the fists. This is different than that of the G man, I think Dorn would also link in with the Wolves and send a search party for Russ, hoping that he had found something to enable the empirer to leave his golden thrown. However I am still if the impression that Russ has been told by the big E to kill him, that by doing so he will release him to be reborn, maybe there is already a body waiting for him on Mars to take over.

If dorn does return, then I bet he is going to link up with the Black Templars, tell Guilliman and the high lords that they can shove the codex into the eye of terror and go on massive crusade of his own, leaving a trail of fortress worlds as a he goes. I also bet that Perturabo is trying either reverse his apotheosis, or if Dorn IS his prisoner, perhaps to grant an apotheosis to Dorn due to him being in bad shape from 10000 years of torture, with Perturabo being extremely petty and thinking that being a demon prince sucks but makes you immortal so he could torture Dorn forever. Would be interesting to see giant imperial saint Dorn as some sort of enormous walking castle man, towering over tanks and walls. However dorn returns, I cant really see him being static when he gets back, rather I figure he'd be on an absolute warpath.
