Yes, more of the Wolf, Probably from the late 60's on his XERB station. He was DJ and station manager from 1966-1971. He started this gig after he left XERF 1570-AM, but not for long. In later years the Wolfman began broadcasting pre-recorded shows on three different Mexican stations at different times of the day, XERB, XERF, & XEG 1050-AM in Monterey, Mexico. By 1971 Wolfman was making a profit of almost $50,000 a month but it didn't last long, by April 1972 he was forced off the air by the greedy station owners & new Mexican laws that put an end to this prosperous venture.

I drove by Wolfman Jack's and his daughter's grave today. Sorry they are gone. Also, stopped at the store on the corner on which his daughter was killed. Found out that my sisters' daughter lives in the same area of his son. I grew up with the Wolfman. I listened to him on the radio, both in the US and on AFR in Europe. I also watched the Midnight Special in which he hosted many times. A little bit of music died the day he passed away.

But they were really pushin close to a million watts 😂 Birds would fall from the sky as they flew past the antenna array. The headlights on the cars in the lot of the stations would glow from the powerful signal

The transmitter was across the border in Mexico and they were licensed as a Mexican Radio Station because they used a higher level of wattage than permitted in the USA. I could hear him at night when I was a teenager in the mid-60's in Reno NV. "The Mighty 1090 XERB Over Los Angeles" Now and the you would hear the "Wolf Man Howl" over the music. Played pretty much oldies before they were too old but not current "Top 40" stuff, at least not that I remember. BTW he was a local L.A. DJ back then and later the World was his...

Sorry folks but the studios were in Chula Vista Ca. In fact there is a scene in American Graffiti where he actually mentions Chula Vista ... The building still exist on 3rd Ave.

Never mind that American Graffiti is set in 1962 during which Wolfman Jack was working at KCIJ/1050 in Shreveport La., the following year he signed on at XERF in Cuidad Acuna, across the border from Del Rio, Tx. The studio shown in the movie was KRE in Berkeley, Ca. a long way from Chula Vista...

Thanks for posting -- love the old Wolfman Jack clips. This must be from 1969-70 -- the first two songs were both released in 1969.

Brother! you are wrong... Wolfman Jack actually taped his early XERB shows from Minneapolis Minnesota where he was working at KUXL, he did so through a special arrangement with a U.S. broker in Baja California. Mexican radio stations cannot broadcast from the U.S.... get real man. At one point Wolfman was pre-recording his show in the U.S. for broadcast on three different Mexican stations XERB, XERF, XEG. Wolfman never went near whatever studio you're referring to, unless it was a paid promotional appearance.
